Bring on the next animal!

I love reading all of the poor reviews by the nose up in the air activists and new century gamers who don't have a clue as to what a hunting game should be. First off this game succeeded where the other Big Game Hunter games failed. It brought adventure back into hunting without being to ridiculous like the over zealous Dangerous Hunts 2 which was almost impossible to finish due to it's extremely hard game play. It also avoided the whole (animals charging out of the wilderness aspect) such as the case was with Cabela's Alaskan Adventure. This game was first and foremost a beautiful game to look at. The graphics were more than acceptable and even an improvement over many of Cabela's previous titles. People sometimes forget that this is an older system and one that was a dramatic improvement over PS1. They may not be (PS3 Graphics) but they're not bad at all for PS2. The CAREER HUNT game play was really a whole lot of fun with doing such things as sneaking up on animals and taking that long distance shot, to fighting the (main character) animals which are waiting for you at the end of each region. You meet guides and various people along the way who actually have personalities and provide you with information and/or ask favors. There are also MINI-GAMES along the way in which you get a chance to shoot birds and small animals for prizes. You also get to interact with your environment a little such as using buttons to climb walls and cross logs while unlocking various weapons and items along the way. Some of the main animals are easy to kill while others are extremely hard to kill and although the amount of bullets some of these animals can take may be unrealistic, it certainly does make for a much more interesting and adventurous game. The instant hunts are a welcome change as far as I'm concerned do to the fact that they provide you with all the equipment you need right off the bat and the objectives actually vary from hunt to hunt. The coolest thing in the world is when you take that first shot and actually see the bullet penetrating the air around it nailing the target form various camera angles. The Hunter-Sense is a much better way to view the animals rather than the red dots from the previous installments of this game. Overall if you are actually in the mood for a fun game that isn't to hard or to easy and gives you a chance to hunt several different kinds of animals including Wild Boars, African Kudus, Cougars, Jackals, and even deadly cats such as Panthers and Lions as well as traveling to various locations around the globe, than this game should become part of your collection. I own every one of the Cabela's games and this is by far one of my favorites. P.S. to the Animal Activists.....it's a f__king computer program!! It's not real!! Save a tree, hug a seal, but please above all else: Shut the ____ up!

Good hunting game, but not a hard title to get

Yes, this was the best hunting game made for PS2 until Dangerous Hunts came out. However, there wasn't really anything to compete with in hunting games business, so it wasn't hard to achieve that milestone. Given that you can hunt on this, and hunt not just for deer but for many things, it is fun to play for a while. But the graphics are just terrible, and the best part about them is probably the detail of the guns. The controls are lacking control, and you are limited as to what you can do. There's a lot of things I can do holding a gun that this hunter can't. Also, the realism as far as hunting tags/licenses and laws go are somwhere off in fantasy land. I live in Texas, and I damn well know that if I shot a deer I didn't have a tag for, I wouldn't get a little $200 fine. I'm gonna get my butt thrown in jail. I do like that you can switch between first and third person views, and you can use a lot of accessories like calls and tree stands. There's a lot of great locations on it to hunt, too, that really are known for their hunting. A decent game it is, but a great it is not. I prefer real hunting over it.

So when i got this game and played i used the easy level. On your first hunts this is a very good idea. the controls are alittle bit hard to get used to but it is still a great game overall. everything is very realistic. when an animal is faraway and it it dosent know about you put the crosshairs on the dot an fire. i got it for 10 bucks at best buy. This is a must have game

i got this game and i started a career the controls arnt the easyest but once u get them down your set i was imeadiatly hooked and couldnt stop playing till i won. there are three modes of hnting easy- gives u dots to find game and follows bullets.
medium-dosnt folow bullets still have red dots
hard-is like real hunting u have to lure them in
two things I liked about this game were the trophy cabin were the best of eachspecices you killed is displayed and i liked was how it teaches real saftey rules of hunting so if kids after playing this game go hunting there safe.
One draw back is the loading times.
all in all this game is a must have

Great Hunting Game

This is a really great hunting game. I got it to practice my skills for action shooters and fell in love with it. It takes some time to get used to the game controls but once you do it is a blast. If you use the .300 magnum in one of the canadian provinces you get X-ray vision. It is awsome. I could see the skeleton of the Grizzly before I bagged my trophy. Even the easy level is kind of difficult. The quick hunt is a great feature for testing out the gear. You really only need a good scoped rifle and some traking and you can bag any of the animals.

Cabelas' "Big Game Hunter" is a great hunting game even for only moderately fans of tha genre (Hunting, of course). It is a great hunting game and if tha controls were better than it would've gotten 5 *'s.

An alright game

In this game you can hunt polar bears, deer, moose etc. there are many weapons to choose from and alot of gear. you can ride atvs sonwmobiles and drive a truck. it is kinda easy because you can see where all of the animals are located because they all have red dots youcan see from miles away.Get it if u like to hunt but other wise get Cabelas 2004 it is better

Sping the extra $10 and buy Deer Hunter

Bad controls, bad driving, bad graphics, and bad loading. Don't waste your money. Deer Hunter goes right where this game failed.
