This game is SO fun! I bought it for my neices and nephews to play when they come to visit and they had a ball. My youngest nephew had a hard time working the controls, so I took over for him and played with my 8 year old niece. We laughed so hard at this game- and had so much fun playing it! The graphics are fine, and the story line is very entertaining. We love this game!

A GREAT multiplayer game!

When I first played this game, I found it a little boring. That is until I played with my sister. This is probably one of the most fun multiplayer PS2 games that I own.

Basically you have 4 characters at a time playing and you can switch between characters. Each character does something different. For example, the Gingerbread Man has the ability to use his candy cane to hit high targets. Donkey can kick trees that are in the way. You travel together through different areas killing slugs and other creatures and collecting coins while working together to get through the level. It's fun to play with two people because it's sort of difficult during certain parts of the game to get two characters to work together to get through a particular part of the game so having two people play helps a lot.

Our favorite part of the game is "hero time". This is when a certain character has to use their skills by themselves to do a certain activity. For example, Fiona's hero time has her singing, Shrek has him fighting, etc. The hero times break up the adventure/exploring part of the game very nicely.

If you have children that like Shrek, this is the game for you. Also, if you have children that don't like playing together, this is the game for you. In this game, they're forced to work together in order to get through the level. And some things the characters say are quite amusing so adults will love it too. LOVE this game!

My first game

We got this game as an after Christmas present and we are really enjoying it. My husband and I started playing it together after the kids went to bed. We found ourselves laughing out loud and getting very competitive w/eachother. We started playing it when the kids were doing homeowrk one night and it turned into a family event. Those w/certian "control" abilities were handed the game controller to take on the task at hand. When it was a single challenge each person got their chance to clear that part of the game.

Family game night now has another option in our house. No longer is it just board games.

We also enjoy the new Kim Possible What's the Switch game.

Almost as good as the movie

This game is one of best games I've ever played. And it could be alittle disgusting because in the game you have to collect eyeballs. I felt like throwing up when I collect one. Anyway, you can also play as a team of four like Shrek, Donkey, Fiona, Puss'N Boots , Gingi, and a new player called Lil'Red. And help them battle various enemies like villagers, pumpkins, knights. Don't rent it it'll be better if you buy it.

Great game!!

this games is just great, i found funny to play everything in it almost like in the game, the controls are very easy, the graphics are quite nice, and the music too. great choice.

Fun, but you have to be mean to animals.

This is a fun little game, but it should be longer.
Oh, and parents, the player has to be mean to animals.
Like one review said, you have to throw chickens in a pot of
hot water,(They are still alive)kill turtles, but you also
have to sing to knock black birds out of a tree so they can be made into pie, (I like black birds :( but it is just a game)
kill rats in the woods and the farm, (In the farm just to find a neddle and protect a growing bean stalk)and in the town, (They come out of a manhole)In the cave and the prison you need to kill spiders.(If you have a kid that will cry because of this, get Over The Hedge)Well, on to the grafics, they are all right. Nothing special. The Charectors are good. Overall, 4 stars.
Thanks for reading.

not bad at all. get it now before it's gone

I wasn't sure if I wanted to purchase this game because it got so many bad reviews (From Magazines, Amazon reviewers, and G4TV).

However, because I love Puss N Boots and because of the recent price drop, I decided to give it a go. Well, it's not like final fantasy (as many have compared it to). It's more like Gauntlet: Dark Legacy. The graphics are really good. To address another criticism, the game is not a cheap movie novelty created from left over scraps.

My only complaint is that you can't choose the characters you want for each level; They are choosen for you. However, you can switch from the 4 characters given and most of them are cool.

Fun Factor=3.5
Replayability=3
Graphics= 4.5
Controls=5
Camera Angles=3.5

Mostly young teens and under will enjoy this game. Even if you dont like shrek, this game will appeal to Grims fairy tale fans (like me). I got mine "new" from EBGAMES for only 9.99

hurry, before they are gone!

If I close my eyes, maybe it will be gone

This game stinks. In fact, it stinks so much, that it's the most stinking kind of stinkiness crammed into a stinky game. In 2 words: IT STINKS!!! This game is one of the many in the magical RPG-land. This unfortunatley is NOT magical. However, there is one "magical" thing about it: IT STINKS SOOOOOOOOOO MUCH!!! However... it IS an RPG and RPGs are enjoyable. but this isn't. The stat point "system" is shallow and completely and entirely useless, swithcing between characters soon gets dull, every character is practically the same and all of the missions are repetitive and basically are about roaming around a non-free-roaming world and brainlessly bashing around enemies and completing rubbish minigames (Throwing chickens in a pot anyone? No?) with turd controls, or should I say "controlls?", eh? Let's just be happy it isn't turn-based. That would have totally screwed it over, though it already IS!

The graphics are somewhat of a disappointment would somebody else say but not me! I am about to deliver a critical hit to the game in every element of it (Critical hit. Critic? Dangerous... dangerous critic. Geddit?). Graphic-wise, this game sucks. It sucks so much that when you thought it couldn't suck anymore it does. Shrek is fat, ugly and looks reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaaaaally sharp. It looks like they took a shot from Shrek 2 (THE MOVIE, that also sucks but not as much as this steaming pile of cack), put it into PhotoShop, decreased the cuality a LOT and sharpened Shrek so much he was barely visible. The locaitions look dull and boring, effects are anything but shiny (Buy Sonic Heroes for uber shiny effects) and the characters look crappy and lifeless. The graphics look more like a GameBoy game rendered in 3D (Reeeeeeeeaaaaaaally bad. I've seen one. I still have nightmares about it) than true PS2 graphics. Lifeless, dull and boring then? Also it is colorless (Is that a word?) and almost a grayscale game. Much like GameBoy (The ORIGINAL one) then.

Sound? I don't hear sound... I hear the devil laughing in the bowels of hell, yealling "GOTCHA!!!" at the victims of this monstousity. Not a SINGLE of the movie's cast even bothered to cast for the game. They probably saw a clip from it and passed out, while the makers (CURSE YOU ALL!!!) hired a bunch of nobodys to cast their voices for the lifeless characters.

The gamplay is in a word and four letters: C-R-A-P!!! The boss battles are a bunch of wannabes that want to stand a chance against the other boss battles (Sonic Heroes anyone?). For example, take Puss in Boots for example. More than a button bashing test than a battle. He is EASY to defeat. This is what you do:
X, X, X, X, X, O, O, O, O, ,O ,O, O, XO, XO, XO, XOO,
YOU WIN! Congratulation. You know the basic forms on you DualShock II Controller for The Sony PlayStation2 Console Entertainment System. Erm, yay? Also, the game is pretty shallow. You can make it through the whole game without a single upgrade. Also, tje game is so easy that it isn't believable. But the last boss was a shock. It is really hard. Perhaps, your brain is overcooled by the easiness of previous levels that you can't even defeat the second boss of Sonic Heroes (Took me 8 seconds. Really). But your brain must already be dead because YOU are the one stupid enough to buy this thing. It doesn't even qualify for a game.

Final verdict: 1/10
Horrible, crappy, lifeless, dull and boring nonsense that NOBODY should EVER play. Listen to my words: Do-not-by-this-game! NONONONONONONONONONONONOOOOOOOOOOO!!! Never ever. If this review has made you curious, then rent the game. Or just trust me and don't buy it. A big NONO!!! Everyone that gave it a good review is stupid. It should be rated "M" for Morons. Not suitable for anyone with an IQ above 5. No buy, no die, goodbye. Hey, that rymed.

From 4 to 15 and beyond

This game has been enjoyed by the family from my 4 year old (who likes to play Fiona) on up to in clude friends of the family. The game loosely follows the movie with the additions of other characters and does not require high skill levels to play. The contols are simple and you can pick it up and put it down without losing any of the momentum of knowledged gained while playing. It is good simple fun.
