This is the best Rainbow Six 3 lockdown game in the world! The graphics are really good! And the game play is good too! Using the sniper mode is pretty easy. And the weapons are cool too! This game is better than the last one! :)

This game is very fun, but it isn't quite Rainbow Six 3. I am five missions into it, and so far it seems a little easy. Not quite as challenging as Rainbow 3. Also, I want the RB6 Games to have one console versus multiplayer, as well as online. Terrorist Hunt isn't quite as fun as Tom Clancy and Ubisoft may think, and Co-Op gets a little old after a while. I'll give it a 4/5, but i think they need to think a little harder into making more improvements besides just the graphics, because that was pretty much the only improvement. I don't play online (yet) but that is one of the biggest reason to get a Tom Clancy game.
Online= Buy
Offline= Rent, then buy if interested(me)

Fun shooter but it's not the Rainbow we knew way back.

I have followed the Rainbow Six series from the very first version for the PC. Before, it was the most realistic shooter with great pre-mission planning. This was a "sim" on how counter-terror guys really operate.

Sadly, the Rainbow Six series deviated from it's roots and evolved (or should I say "devolved" if there's such a term) into a generic shooter with minimal squad commands.

Good points:
Nice graphics and enviromnental effects.
A lot of enemies to shoot at that shoot back.
More action packed levels instead of stealth based (infact, your guns don't sport silencers anymore).
Cinematic movies.

Bad points:
Goggle view is lame and unrealistic.
Your characters don't wear masks and helmets (Real counter-terror operatives use masks)
No more pre-mission planning (same comment with Rainbow Six 3)
No recognizable differences among firearms (just the difference in sighting mechanism).

Bottomline:
For people looking for realistic counter-terror ops, this is not the game for you. But for people looking for fun action shooters, this game is good enough.

I'm just playing this because of the fun factor. Too bad the realism that was present in the previous games was scrapped out.

I love Ghost Recon (all of them) and Rainbow 6 (orignal) but this game is just --- well it would be a C+ if i wasn't expecting a game comparable to previous titles but its not so its more like a C- The difference amoung guns are lame, some guns are so stupid (gernade luncher) they are just there to advertise how many guns are available. Number of orders to assign is weak, strategy is non exisiting making it a full run and gun game. The only thing 'cool' is the sniping aspect which made the game get 3 stars not 2. All that i'm going to say though is rent the game.

I am a huge fan of the Rainbow Six games! I had Rainbow Six 3 and Rainbox Six 3 Black Arrow for X Box but I got this one for PS2 because I didnt want to pay for XBox Live. Well anyway, the graphics are really horrible, good movies, horrible gameplay compared to the xbox. I hate the menu screens also, it seems like a super nintendo game! Also in this one there is a lock on thing that shows your enemies, there is no Captain giving you orders in your missions, you have to see your gun through your goggles which is retarded. Im going to personally rent this for Xbox and see if its better. If it is Im going to sell my PS2 version and buy a used Xbox one. If you loved Rainbow Six Black Arrow you'll hate this.

plagued by crappy enemy AND teammate AI, some terrorists dont go down even after littering their bodies with bullets. this rainbow six isnt nearly as realistic as the previous titles. even if you're a fan of the series like myself, you will be disapointed with this. a $30 pricetag isn't all that bad however so buy at your discretion. it is a fun action game however but too easy.

this is the first RB6 game i've bought since 'rogue spear' for PC a long time ago(yes i have lockdown for PS2).it's very different(granted RS is years old)
i caught lockdown on sale one weekend and snatched it up because i was addicted to SC chaos theory and wanted to check it out.i'm glad i got it on sale because it's not worth 50 dollars!
as people have said before- it's just a bit...i dunno-- simple.you just go through the levels-- and shoot the bad guys.it's not bad,it's just not great.
good graphics- good 'briefings and story line'(i think it's a little geeky the way they say 'briefing by john clark' at the start of every mission-- and i never imagined john clark{from the novels} to sound like such a tightwad with so deep a voice-LOL)

i have NOT had any problems with my team-mates aside from
them walking out in front of me when i'm shooting thus taking my bullets and sometimes dying.and you do not fail a mission from team-mates dying 'in mission'- the only time that happens is if they die on one the maps where you play weber-the sniper- at the start-- which i haven't had a problem with.it's actually kind of handy to sometimes order them to 'breach and clear' a big warehouse room full of bad guys,while you sit at the doorway and snipe.
there are alot of different weapons on this game- which is cool--but there's not really a big difference in them aside from what type they are(shotgun or rifle,ect..)-- the only thing i go by is where you can pull up the stats before the mission and it says 'damage=high/medium/low and accuracy=H/M/L'...and what kind of sights they have(scope or iron sights,or red dot)
i use the 90tr-- it has a scope--and you always kill the guys with just a few bullets. that's a good thing i guess-- the bullets do actuall damage- and i do die at least a few times every mission( i'm up to mission 9 now)
i dunno- all in all it's a good game,and i do keep playing it-- i have never played any of the other RB6 games for PS2,maybe i should check them out-- it just seems that it could be better.
a good thing about this game,though is that you can go back and play through any completed mission in one of several different game modes- which gives it good replayability value.
i wanted to give it 3 and a half stars.

not the same game

Ok..If you're looking for mindless, look around a corner and shoot bad guys, have fun with this.

There's no mapping. This means you have no idea what the terrain, size of the building etc is. So this makes the game pretty linear. There's one or 2 ways to get to the doorway to the next board.

Teammates:
Your teammates, even if you tell them to hold, will come running to where you are if you fire a round (this usually gets them killed). When I told them to hold, then threw a grenade, they ran to the grenade and died.

Weapons:
There's only one weapon with a silencer. Sniping on a console sucks. Give me back my PC and track ball sniping. Even on the normal level, one hit to my teammates was killing them and they just stood there. I'm on the last sniping board and enemies are firing on my team as the enter the screen which gives me zero time to snipe them before they kill my teammate. IF ONE DIES, YOU FAIL. No other boards fail you if a member dies!!!???

Enemies:
Pretty much look alike. Most are very similar. Although the AI is smart, bad guys spawned behind me after I secured a room. So they didn't have to be too smart to spawn and pick off my team.

Cheats:
Don't trust the cheats screen.
I got curious and used my points for invisibility. It doesn't make the whole team invisible. They get shot just as fast. The cheats screen says your whole team is invisible. nuh uh.
One shot kills works fine though.

GOOD: The cinematics were pretty good. You learn more about the team members.

Lockdown should be a word to describe the errors

Rainbow 6 Lockdown is a big upset from the previous, more realistic version 3. The errors will anger you greatly, especially your team mates shooting you in the back. Rainbow team is supposed to be the most skilled operators on the planet and yet the gameplay lacks the simplest qualities of controlling negligent fire. Also be sure to run quickly through areas to stop the bad guys from constantly engaging. Multiplayer is not as good as the previous 3 and again the game is rife with errors like bad guys shooting you through solid metal hulls and having to take ten rounds in the chest to drop. Your team mates will also fail to follow commands and fail to kill enemies two feet away! Overall a poor follow up in the Rainbow Six series. It's obvious the tech's at Ubisoft threw this one together to make a fast buck.



Dissapointing Flop

I am a long-time fan of the original series. This title is not a wonderful improvement, as all fans were expecting. There are some definite strengths, but they are severely overshadowed by this title's shortcomings. I'll make this as simple as possible.

Strengths:

* High detail map scenery. Graphics look awesome. Also, smoke grenades look much more dense, like the fire extinguisher explosions in RS3.
* Breach Order. Now you can finally order your team to breach a door and clear a room. Previously, it was ONLY the player's responsibility to breach. New options of breaching also. Shotgun is now capable of taking the door off its hinges. A standard shotgun blast breach also looks more realistic than in previous versions--the door swings open, then closed, then open, and flaps like so. Player can walk right in, no buttons to push to open the door once it has been breached in this fashion.
* Some enemies are much tougher, but not unrealistically. They still die, but sometimes fight ferociously, leading to interesting battles. Grenades thus become an essential tool in ending a firefight that drags on.
* New Secondaries: The Maul allows someone to breach a door mechanically, though this method is slow. Stun grenades complement the ordinary array of flashbangs. Finally, Willy Pete, or White Phosphorus grenades will light your foe like a candle, with fun visuals of "screaming alphas."

Weaknesses:

* By far, the single most aggravating thing about the game is the oversimplification of the weapons. Customizing a gun--adding a suppressor, hi-cap Beta C-Mag, or scope--was one of the greatest attributes of Rainbow Six 3. Not only has the weapon choice been reduced by more than half, but this ability to customize has been revoked. Don't worry about choosing ammo type either. Revoked. Picking your teammates? REVOKED! Oh, I almost forgot... one thing that made Raven Shield leaps and bounds better than any other tactical shooter, was its "combat loaded" round-in-the-chamber weapon realism. When swapping magazines, if a live round was present in the chamber, IT STAYED THERE, giving the possibility of a full magazine capacity + 1 round. In the new game, a change of magazines translates into the removal of this realistic extra round. Where did it go? Down to one round in your 30 round mag? No problem, change mags and you'll have a combat loaded 31 rounds, right? WRONG! Lame!
* There's still no such thing as a heart beat sensor.
* Game is made for arcade, not for a serious tactical shooter. Teammates don't follow orders. Oh sure, they'll try, but they will forget what you told them as soon as a firefight breaks out. And they won't remember after it's finished unless you "remind" them. Better to just shoot your teammates. More realistic. No planning anymore. As one comment noted, maps are LINEAR. There are about one or two ways of accomplishing a goal. No more DYNAMIC tactics. This is HIGHLY frustrating, as it leaves nothing to the imagination. The game plays like a script. After the game is played, there is no way to revive it by making different choices in the field, or trying new routes to an objective. It loses its playability instantly after it is completed. However, I STILL enjoy playing Rogue Spear, Urban Ops, and Raven Shield (3rd installment).

Don't expect a tactical shooter. Buy Raven Shield instead, there are still plenty of people playing it, and there are many map packs available online. If you pay more than $20-$25 for this game (after shipping), you're getting ripped off.
