Possibly the best Jurassic Park Game

As the title says this is, in my opinion, the best game based on the Jurassic Park films.One of the reasons is that this time you're not escaping from a T-Rex,Spinosaurus or hiding from Raptors, it's your turn to control things.You choose which dinos inhabit the park,where they live, with whom they fight and much more.The only bad points I see are the keyboard controls, why are they there when it could be a lot better with the use of the mouse alone?
well, in all it's a good game which entertains almost everyone.

Operation Genesis is a great park building that rivals Zoo Tycoon. The game play is practaclly the same, but you are on a tropical island and have to create, feed, and display dinos. You also have to make sure your tourists are entertained. You can build burger stands, restrooms, and gift shops. Security is also a major importance. You can build ranger stations and machine gun turrents. (Please don't kill visitors) One of the downsides in the game is the weather. Sometimes thunderstorms and heatwaves hit your park, making visitors unhappy. And sometimes, you park is mauled by tornados. This destroys buildings, kills dinosaurs and visitors, and just is terrible to the player. :-( So, expect for a few bugs, Operation Genesis is a game that every dino nerd should have.

I just can't wait!

Hi there!
I really enjoyed playing the demo of this game and i just cant wait till march 11. I lamented the failure of JP since I saw the movie and read the book! So this is a kind of childhood dream come true for me.
One of the aspects what I really liked of the game is how they try to make natural behaviour. For instance: Im in the Site B mode (which lets you make an island with only dinosaurs, so you can see their behaviour) and 2 T-rexes are facing each other. They have a territorial fight and the younger one loses. But when they meet again, the younger one will most likely run away in panic instead of confronting the older one again! Which is very cool I think. A thing which is also very fascinating is that, the plant-eaters will migrate in herds along the shores and that the t-rex develops a territory. But all these thing require time before you notice it! But think of what interesting behaviour you will see when u got 25 species of dinosaurs walking on an island!

Anyway, check the demo! Its really worth a try.

Runs very smooth with (what I have). Be aware the frequency will suck on VIA S3 Unichrome-based cards as well as older Intel IGP series running on Intel P.3. AMD processors will make a difference (same as Intel P.4) Be sure to download all updates for your drivers!
Graphics: 10/10
The graphics are so charming indeed. From dinosaurs to grass, everything has a colour and "pieces" of life to it. Although visitors' faces could be a little more clear it still works great. Blood effects were applied using 2D Alpha Blending, you can see it if you look too carefully and it's not too bad but could be a little better.
Sounds: 9.5/10
As for sounds part... Well the basic "effects" are okay except the annoying crickets/birds sounds in the background. Nothing special about sounds but the music, that's what gives it a real rate. John William's soundtrack was there including all major themes and even the ones composed just for the game. If you love JP music then this game will be splendid indeed for you. Go to Music directory in Game Folder, open the music tracks with Winamp (only), convert those to mp3s and burn them to CD if you desire. I know I did...
GamePlay: 6.5
Could be much, much better!... Just the "mail" alone will kill and annoy the heck out of you. Dinosaurs get sick every 25 minutes, and it is almost impossible to get them back to normal, sometimes even "Vacinize All Units" feature does not help. Visitors are very stupid... If you build a park with "long valleys" then put at least 3 park entrances in different places. You see, visitors are dumb enough - they will NEVER walk over entire park.
Dinosaurs just walk around the park and are very boring at times. Even if you delete or cause a fence to disappear the carnivores will still not attack visitors unless they are, what the game nicely calls, "stressed."
If you like adventure/action games then don't even bother with this one. The missions are very easy and there is no more action other than shooting at helpless dinosaurs.
Overall:
This game is cool for nerds and I am a nerd so it is cool. I love the graphics and the music and although the gameplay was a little sucky I still recommend it to friends. This one will be perfect for those who wish to kill time or relieve stress by opening the gates of hell on visitors in park.

I really had alot of fun playing this game! It has three sections to play in, 4 if you include the secret site b where you get to just create dinos instead of building a park. You get to take pictures on safaris and fly a helicopter saving the visitors on the main games. I really recomend this game if you enjoyed the movie and there isn't any blood that I can see so it is great for about 9 and up.

Just purchased this title. The graphics are awesome! The sound effects make it sould like you are really there. Good gameplay in the missions. If you have been waiting for the chance to actually build Jurassic Park (not just shoot dinosaurs and run around the whole game) then Operation Genesis is for you!

Well, this game is one of my personal favourites. It's great for Jurassic Park fans who love the merchandise. This game has the best dinosaurs from the trilogy - like Tyrannosaurus Rex, Velociraptor, Brachiosaurus... and a lot more from the movies. I love this game, because it's one of the only Jurassic Park games where you get to make a park the way you want it(besides "Jurassic Park 3: Park Builder")!

Yes, this game is good, but there are some things i can't stand, like non-reflective water, weird-looking and acting people, a strange and different park entrance, and when the people don't visit the whole of the park you build.

Okay, I mentioned some bad things, but they don't ruin the game! This game's still really fun for Juarssic Park fans, so I definitely recommend playing this game.

This game is perfect for those who really believe in Jurrasic Park or those who have alot of time on their hands. The graphics are as good as those in the movie and the music is great. There are downsides, though. You can only have a certain amount of dinosaurs (60, I think) and your limited on the diversity. After a while (after you've perfected your park and have 5 stars)there isn't much else to do. That isn't much if you consider the up's of the game. Their is some blood and gore, but it's hard to see. It's no worse than one of Steve Erwin's animal documentaries. The violence isn't bad, either. You see a carnivore attack a herbivore by knocking it over (except raptors, they jump onto thier prey). Basically, if you were able to see the movie, you could play this game. In my opinion, this game is one of the best.

I am a huge fan of dinosaurs and this game rocks! Not only you can bulid a big J-park you can also do these cool missions!

This game is the best. Although they limit your funds, they have some of the best dinos. I'd give it 5 1/2 stars if I could. 3 games in 1! very good graphics, and so life like (if you tun the volume up) I reccomend it for all other dino freaks. believe me, its worth the money, and you won't be dissapointed. Better than it looks. Only a bit of gore (unless you put the wrong dinosaurs together, or just enjoy blowing their heads of with the 50 calibur rifle in missions).
