This Game Isn't The Best Of The Year. It's The Best Ever!

Absolutely the best. Over 500 cars, 20 courses, 66 drivers' tests, and it is supposed to take over a year to beat. What a game. The original was thought to be the best racing game ever, and possibly the best game ever. Not any more. This game far surpasses the original. You won't get much better than this until GT2000 comes out on the PlayStation2. There's really no need to wait, because GT2000 is just a spiced up version of GT2. If I were you, I would just buy it.

This is truly one of the best games for Playstation. Although the licenses are slightly tough to accomplish, and the hairpin turns always appear out of now where, every other aspect of this game is truly the best. The cars look and act the very same. What is very nice about this game is that there is a very large variety of cars, and for about every person in the world, there is atleast one car for them. ranging from 22 hp to 918-1011 horsepower. Overall I'd have to say that this is the ultimate car stimulater.

Before purchasing this game, I read all of these reviews online and saw all of the commercials on TV. Being a person who had never even played the first Gran Turismo, I was a little nervous about buying it...but let me say that this game lives up to the hype, and is by far the best driving game I have played yet. It takes a little time getting used to the cars and their handling, but after a little practice you will learn why this game is so popular...the graphics are great, as well as the cars to pick from. The dual analog controller is a must to get the total feel of this game.

This game is addictive. I read all of the reviews but still wasn't that impressed because I didn't care for GT 1 that much. The choice of tracks and cars in this one is phenomenal. It may be tricky unlocking some of them, but that's half the fun. The real-life feel of each car is what sets this game apart from the rest. It's not just always a super sport race car to drive. This game will have you punching the accelerator in your own car no matter what type it is.

If you are a car/racing nut like myself, you are doing yourself an injustice by not getting this game. This game alone is reason enough to purchase a Playstation if you don't already have one. You can go as deep into this game as you want. It's up to you. Wanna squeeze off a few laps before dinner? Pop in the Arcade disc and have a ball. Wife and kids gone for the weekend? Fire up the Simulation disc and build your career. Simulation mode is the real meat of the game and it is here where you can immerse yourself in up to your ears in GT2. Get your licenses, buy a car, race a car, win money, win cars, sell cars, buy more cars, tune your cars, build your garage, build your earnings and build your career. There is so much to appreciate in this game. The accuracy in the physics, the cars and the tuning is amazing. I love the tuning part and this is what really draws me to the game everytime. Make a minor tweak to the suspension like an increase in negative camber and there will be a slight change in the cars cornering ability. Make a major change like adding super soft racing slicks and the cars grip is immediately noticable as you can now take corners faster. Slap on a stage 4 turbo and racing intercooler and hold on to your pants cuz the TV's gonna blur. With so many cars available (594 to be exact), my tuning joys have just started. Each car is unique in its performance traits and as accurate as you can get it in a game. Everything from little hatchbacks with lawnmower engines to full-on GT1 and GT-C racers are for sale or for prizes. All are tunable to varying degrees. As far as the actual gameplay, well, awesome graphics, superb sound, perfect control and terrific AI competition makes this game shine above all other racing games out there. The AI is worthy of note. They are aggresive to the point of bumping you off course to take their desired line yet they will flinch if you dive into a corner to "cut the apex" while they are attempting an inside line. The "I" in AI is non-linear in that they don't just follow a set line throughout the race. They are opportunistict and will try to pass you. They also make mistakes. Some will take a corner too wide, others will cut too sharp an clip a wall, while others will totally spin out. The AI makes the game truely more believable in its accuracy. One more thing. Get a wheel for this game and you will be racing till the wee hours. Enjoy.

I conquered the original GT, and was thirsty for more, GT2 is all that and More! Cars, Tracks, and Realism make this game a standout from EVERY other racing game ever made. The ONLY thing i didnt like is the limits on the races. Most will let you in with a cheater car, as long as it has the right HP rating. Hint: Win the GT40 race car in the third MR race. You can use it in almost all the other special events and kick all thier butts. It's not that hard to win either, I used a tuned Vector M12. GOD LOVE THIS GAME THOUGH! If you play, you WILL be addicted. period.

I have played all the racing games I could ever find. And to this day, the only playstation games I own are GT One and GT Two. If you like realistic games, the feel of real driving, this is the game to have. If you think you know alot about cars, buy this and test your knowledge.

Well you thought the first one was Mad wait until you get a load of this one. Tons of cars, tons of tracks absolutely brilliant. Well worth buying. Very addictive great learning curve. Very familiar to the first once in terms of lay out and navigation. The option to have the arcade has catered for all drivers and lets you get to grips with all the cars. and of course the simulation for the more career minded.
There no other way you have to get it. A weekend rental just will not do!
No other car game comes close at the moment until maybe Ridge Racer 5 on the PSX 2. Until then you'll be hooked on GT2

I had the original GT, and I had major doubts about this game. When I borrowed it from a friend, I was amazed! Everything has been improved from the graphics to the cars and the menus. The Rally mode is a very cool addition and fun 2 player mode. I also like the fact that you don't have to earn licenses, you just have to win races. It is even more realistic that the first one (!) so it does take some getting used to, But then it wouldnt be fun if you never had wrecks.

GT was such a satisfying game I expected more from GT2.
-ve points being. The graphics are no better, I expected HI-FI Res throughout. In GT Mode the menu doesn't show the specs of the other cars in the race, I like to race the same spec as the opposition. I hoped for linkable game play for 2 TVs and 2 player duels in a 6 car field. The data on the cars is deficient, cannot even see if the car is turbo or otherwise, appears a rush job.
For the +ve, the game drives better and the road speeds are a bit more real, though I expected some of the exotic MRs to drive better; Lotus Elise 190 is disappointing. Nice to see the variety of makes for comparison. I guess I liked the licence test the most, try to go for gold in each. Over all, I still enjoy it and play no other.
Let's hope GT 2000 provides the next big step.
