Play this with the Dual Shock contoller!!!

Rally Cross is quite possibly the best launch title for the Playstation. Awesome graphics, sound effects, control, and overall production make this game extremely fun, even for multiple players (without link cable!!)

To those of you who say it's to hard: Play this game with a Dual Shock controller!! Sony was thinking ahead when they made this game, and it is SO much easier to powerslide (and you will do it alot) your car around with the analog controls. If you are using a standard controller, pick up an analog one. Both the controller and the game are dirt cheap now, so pick them both up, then buckle up!! You may end up upside down!!

All racers that want a mindless speed game go look elswhere!

This game is not for the moronic unskilled speed freaks that want the computer to hold their hand while they mindlessly hold the gas pedal to drive forward. If you want a challenge and love to master a skill then this game is for you. If you are a code using, hand holdin, blow um up for hours, type of gamer then go get Need for Speed. This is the best racer to date bar none! I stand by my review.

Not a good game at all

This is not a good driving game at all. It's graphics are so bad. It's controls are hard to use. It's so hard to turn in every car even the one with best turning. It's not as good as Driver. That's a good driving game. Driver isn't a racing game, but it's so much better than Rally Cross. At least in Driver you have good graphics and easy to use controls. If you disagree than buy it. Keep your reciept so you can take it back. I also think Sony could have done a way better job considering their good reputation in electronics.

pretty tedious

Thanks to a certain gaming magazine that praised this game to the moon, I bought Rally Cross when it came out in the late 90's. After giving it 10 minutes of play I realized they overrated it, and soon, it was sitting at the bottom of my box of games. It was supposed to offer some kind of incredible real-life racing experience. It didn't.

The only thing that was good about it were the graphics. The music was just okay. The actual racing part is annoying because every time you try to make a turn, your vehicle flips over. That's really annoying. Your truck tips over too easily. I mean it: the *slightest* odd turn will flip your truck over. I like speed. It also doesn't help that your vehicle feels like it's floating on air while it's rolling around (like a napkin in the wind).

I can't remember how I got rid of this game (I may have just thrown it in the trash) but I've been celebrating ever since.

Looks like this game didn't become a classic like that magazine review predicted. Hardly anyone even KNOWS about this game, and let's keep it that way.

The best racing game ever made!!!! Bar None! This game got a bad name when it was released due to what I think was a poorly timed release date. This is one of the first if not the first games to take advantage of dual analog shock controller. Sony had to pull there dual analog shock controller because of a lawsuit meanwhile gamers were forced to evaluate Rally Cross based on gameplay with the regular digital controllers. Sony re-released a new and improved dual shock analog controller but it was a little too late. This game was meant to be played with the dual analog controller. The gameplay in Rally Cross is unrivaled in the racing genre. This is the only racing game I have ever played that totally allows you to control your destiny start to finish. This is the only racing game that I know of that allows to rock your vehicle back over when you land on your top and there is no magic hand to place you back on the track. The physics in this game are amazing and the programming accomplished in this game has never been equalled. The proof of this games merit can be proved by the amount of time this game stayed at the top of GameFan's Developers favorite games list. Dont take my word for it go back and look through old issues of Gamefan Magazine and you will see that the developers played this game for months. My standard for racing games will always be measured against Rally Cross. The Georgia Tech programmer who designed this game should be held in very high esteem for making the best racing game in history. This game is very challenging but once you spend some time with it you will appreciate the complexity of the physics engine that was designed for this game. I am thinking of buying Rallisport Challenge for the XBox but I still ask myself will it measure up to Rally Cross?
