The game that won 1000 stars

5 Rating: 5, Useful: 3 / 3

This game is AWESOME. It has great design and music. The Claymation really works well with the computer animation. Some of the highlights are:
Universal enimeas (kills everything on screen)
Slappy the Hampster (not approved by the humane society)
Farting your clones
1970s Level, compleate with shag carpets and disco ball
Skull Monkey Brand Hot Dog Factory
Joe Head Joe
Claymation mini-movies
The silly things Clayman does when he thinks you aren't watching
Sound effects are great. I'd buy the cd of just the music, if i could!

Over all, I suggest if you liked 2D adventure games, you will love this game. It will keep you entertained for months, and well, years, if you are like the guys I know.

My favorite game since I was a smaller version of myself was Skullmonkeys. I missed it so much, I had to buy it. But, oh no, $$$ on Amazon? Well, I got it from a zshop anyway (very grateful) and I was very happy to see all the madness again. The music keeps our minds from laughing at the 2d side scroller game play, the claymation movies leave us begging for more, and the 70's come back to life in this once in lifetime (well, ok, there was the neverhood I guess, but I havn't played that yet) opportunity to get a little weird.

"A bad man fell from the sky.......AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH"
the words of a genius. This genius being whoever created this game.
Skullmonkeys is easily one of the best games I've ever played. Classic jump on your opponent action, with really good claymation effects.
Extremely funny, extremely well done.
If you buy one game for the rest of your life, buy skullmonkeys. If you buy two games. DON'T BUY TWO GAMES, YOU'LL BE TOO BUSY PLAYING SKULLMONKEYS.
Happy Gaming
Joey

The story is simple. Some guy falls from space onto planet of the Skull Monkeys and squishes one. He takes it's skull, puts it on, and tricks the monkeys. All of them, except for one smarter simian. He learns the villains plans and without hesitation sends a camera device to Clayman and his brother Willie, who were eating sandwiches at their home in the Neverhood which the villian plans to destroy. So Clayman must go and stop the Skull Monkeys. The humor stays constant through out the game with things such as:
Joe Head Joe, a monkey that belches fireballs and rolls his eyes; literally.
A mountain level with yodeling in the background music, and more!
A classic. The only thing is, some challenges are beat your head annoying!

GREAT GAME! Unique and a classic!

Skull Monkeys is so different than your average platform game as it is entirely done in claymation! As a fan of the Odd World series, we were eager to see how this game rated, since they were both made by the same people. Its just as funny and creative and has its own unique look...any true game fan should own this! Its also quite rare, so if you can find a copy of it, GRAB it!

One of my top 5 easily...

Skullmonkeys has always been one of those games that when I looked back at my old games, this would be the one game that I would remember distinctly. While a conventional platformer in terms of gameplay, it's so non-conventional in everything else. Everything is in claymation, which give the environments a fresh and really beautiful aspect to them. The character designs are crazy (in a good way), and it made always anxious to see what'd be coming next (one of the bosses is simply a large head with legs attached to it that spits fireballs, and it's actually just a picture of one of the game designers). The music is so great; I'd definitely buy a soundtrack, and sometimes when I'm playing the game I like to clear an area of enemies and just sit and listen to the game. It really defies rating systems in that I could recommend to ANYONE between the ages of 10 and 70. Oh, and the cutscenes in between levels are so wonderfully done (and hilarious) that you'll wish that the creators will make a full-length movie someday.
Overall, Skullmonkeys is a rare gem in the sea of old games that should be preserved, remembered, and cherished (as I know I'll do with my copy).

Far better than most newer games

There are just some games that are so far out there that they will always be remembered. This is one of them. The Graphics are fantastic. Who doesn't like Claymation?!?! The gameplay is simple, the music is quirky and fun. The storyline very original. The gags are funny!! Even the cut scenes and movie shorts are hilarious!!!! I would knock the game down one star for not being able to save your place on the memory card, but, no this game is so unique and different that all is forgiven.

I highly recommend this game to anyone seeking a fun, good, clean game. My son is just now getting into it, since when he was younger he used to be afraid of the monkeys!!!

This game is one of my top 10 favorite games of all time! As an adult (38 years old), I found this game to be challenging, entertaining, but relatively easy to learn how to play. My 11-year old daughter loves it as well, which is unusual, since we don't usually like the same types of games. The game primarily an arcade-style game, but that didn't stop me from enjoying it (I HATE most arcade type games). This game is well-worth the money (if you can still find a good copy out there).

great game!
