My daughter is 5 years old and loves Spyro. It was easy for her to learn but challenging for her. She hasn't got it all figured out yet, but she enjoys trying. It seems to be a great game for young gamers.

Spyro = the best game character since Sonic.

If it weren't for my fiance, I probably wouldn't have given this game a chance. When it was first released, it didn't look that good. All I got from commercials was a little dragon ran around and burned sheep. Well it's a good thing I got to play this- it's one of the better games I've played in the last 8 years. If you get past the bad camera angles and somewhat badly animated enemies, you get a game that really surpassed anyone's expectations of it. Spyro is an all-around fun game for all ages. I'm 19 and go through the whole thing from the beginning every once in a while.

This is a very easy game to get into, and surprisingly addictive. Even my idiot little brother, who is 7 and only plays bad wrestling games managed to go through the first world with no problem. What happened is all the dragons except Spyro have been crystalized by Gnasty Gnorc, and it's up to our star to save them and take out Gnorc's muppet-ass. Using fire breath, head-butts, and your trusty dragonfly: Sparx, this won't be a problem. Saving dragons, collecting gems and eggs, taking out the bosses, none of that gets boring. For once, I enjoyed going from each area instead of getting bored and going "when is this going to end?". The game doesn't keep track of how long you've been playing, but I think it took maybe 4-5 hours to beat, and depending on how you play, it could take another hour or two to get 100% (collecting everything).

A nice thing is that loading times are very short. When going from level to level, it only takes seconds, and we see Spyro flying through the sky to his destination. It makes transition a lot smoother than most games from the same generation. You really can't go wrong with Spyro. It has some of that early/mid-90's magic that we got from games like Donkey Kong Country, Rocket Knight Adventure, and a few others. It's an instant classic, and the sequels only get better. Well, except Enter of the Dragonfly. Ignore that.

One fine day I was given this game along with my sony playstation. I never played this game or the console either. I had no idea on what I was doing or how to even use the control. Fear not Spyro to the rescue! Unbeknown to me my control pad shook everytime I rescued on of those big Green dragons that look frozen in ice. The first few levels very easy until you get further on to get those jewels that are hiding. How do you break those steel boxes with steel wrapped around them.I figured it out finally and many other hidden passages. A very good game that will keep you well entained and wont make you give up either, just thankful there is no time limit to get to town. Go ahead grab a copy you wont be dissapointed and you wont put it down either.

This is a great game. The graphics are good. At first, this game might seem a liitle bit boring, but play on gamers. This game provides a fun, challenge for all ages. Beating the game can be mildly hard, but getting 100% completion takes very deep exploring and time. This game is a must get. I would definitely recommend getting this game that can be played step by step, for a short time, or for a long time!

Imaginative, challenging and fun game.

Graphics: 10/10 - All the Spyro games have amazing graphics and this one is no exception. Fabulous, beautiful, eye-catching! Check `em out!

Sound: 7/10 - Spyro's usual flapping wings, splashing water, swishing buck sound and great editing satisfy, even if the overall sound could've improved.

Value: 7/10 - Fun to play at the time but you won't go back to Spyro to go and play it again and again too many times. But it looks great and is still entertaining so it's worth the money.

Overall: 9/10 - This blew me away with its creativity and amazing graphics. The ultimate original 3D platform game! If you liked this I recommend the Crash Bandicoot games and the sequels to Spyro the Dragon which are even better than this tasty candy.

This is a great game. Fun action, good graphics, light-hearted plot! My son and all of his friends thoroughly enjoy this (and the new version) -- it's their most often played game. Violent -- but not graphic, it's all handled with a light, playful touch.

The Best Game Ever!

I fell in love with Spyro after renting it from Blockbuster with my friend. Although a little corny at times, this is one of the greatest games. Trust me, it's MUCH better than a lot of PSX games like Final Fantasy (boring). Go buy Spyro now

I really enjoyed playing Spyro even though I'm not very good at "platform" games. First of all, Spyro himself is animated so well, it's a hoot just watching him trot around frying small critters and head-butting hard objects (but it's so sad when he falls into water). I loved the hip, catchy music even before I found out that it had been written by my favorite "Police-man" Stewart Copeland. Video game music has come a long way since Mario Brothers and this game is a benchmark! The reason I didn't give this game a five star rating is that I've been unable to finish it because of the difficulty of the flying school levels. They have nothing to do with the "story" and yet they're incredibly hard (for me anyway) and must be done precisely right or it's a no-go. I'm about to call in an ambidexterous ten-year-old to finish these levels for me so I can see the true ending of the game. So, if you're not good at jumping/flying type games or if you're afraid of falling from high places, you might want to rent this one first...but I bet you'll buy it. It's alot of fun.

This game is great for people who just bought the PlayStation game console or are just not that great at video games because its not too challenging. Not to say its extremely easy, but it is only the second game I ever beat on the PlayStation console (the first being the extremely classic Crash Bandicoot). I enjoyed this game thouroughly and sometimes played it for hours on end. I like it more than the sequel overall becasue I didn't like having to collect orbs and this is a little funner. Plus I like freeing the dragons and I also like the worlds a little better. Spyro the Dragon, I feel, is one of the better games of its kind out there right now. I feel its better than Crash Bandicoot, especially if you like fantasy over reality. Those of you who think games like Final Fantasy 7 and Rogue Squadron are to hard, this game will help you become a better gamer.
