This is a game that me and my friends called " Interactive movie". When you are playing this game, 70% of the time you don't even need the game pad. Although the graphic is great and the actions of every character is in detail, you can easily beat the game in 45minutes by skipping all the movies.

Good Movie, O.k. game

The Bouncer, Square's long awaited action/adventure/rpg-ish? brawler is, to say the least, a good game...for about 2 hours, then the redundancy kicks in and its time to go to another game. Squares entry into the Playstation 2 library is ground breaking in the fact that the FMV is ABSOULUTLY gorgous, I've seen the FMV's that square can produce, and this was amazing, telling an age old story in a new way The play control, similar to DreamFactory's( a susidary of Square I believe) early Tobal No.1 on the PSX, has a somewhat high learning curve due to the true analog control, meaning that if you tap the button lightly, a weak attack will be executed, if you mash on the button, a hard attack will ensue, meaning you have to learn to differentiate (sp) between hard and light taps on the button, then the style gets a new twist with the L1 button which switches your attacks to "special" attacks, which can make for a variety of attacks which are purchased using Bouncer Points earned for every enemy defeated and spent at the end of the fight sequence All in all i was impressed with the over all quality of this game but the quantityis what sufered most, with arund 45 minutes of gameplay, its like watching an interactive movie if story is what your after, this is the game for you, but if gameplay and a lot of intense action are your thing try it then look else where

Rent it, beat it, take it back!

This game has some of the most beautiful graphics out there and I was very impressed. The Dreamcast doesn't have anything like this. This still however, is a horrible game that only lasts for a little over half an hour. When I first heard this I thought my friend meant short like Metal Gear Solid. In actuality he meant short like demo of MGS. The chance to play through as another character reveals nothing that is significant and you'll be glad that Blockbuster bought it instead of you. This game is another example of why I still spend more time playing my Dreamcast.

This game is hands down, one of the best games ever!

I just got this game ,and I can't stop playing it. Everywhere I look fo this games rating like Gamepro, here at Amazon, and all over online they all say this game is 5 stars! I'll have to put my review on that list of 5 stars because that might be my favorite game ever! I mean, when I got my first game for PS2(Tekken Tag Tournament which I give 4.5 stars) the guy at Toys R Us told me to buy this game instead of that! If you ever get lucky enough to find a PS2 you gotta get this game!

Square has done it again!

Squaresoft is definitely one of the best when it comes to PSone. The Bouncer is their first PS2 game. The Bouncer is a adventure game / movie / fighting game combination with the best graphics and FMV I have seen in any PS2 game until now. It might be a bit short and it might be a bit lacking in gameplay, but if you want to see what the PS2 is up to you might want to get a copy of this game. It is not comparable to other Squaresoft games like the Final Fantasy series, Chrono Cross, Xenogears or Vagrant Story. Still buy this one, if you enjoy great graphics, music, movies and fighting games.

There is no restart level in the ... game!

While the FMV and the graphics look gorgeous, the game has a giant flaw that really detracts it from being a real top-shelf game: the load function ... If you fail a fight, then you have to restart..from the title screen. Then you need to reload your data, then if your scene is buried after a few cinematic cuts, you need to skip the scenes. This could have been avoided by having some sort of restart you could simply replay the fight scene. Oh no, instead I waste about 30seconds to cue myself back up to where I was before. The animation looks great, but the aggrevation from having to reload, made me glad that I rented, not bought this game. The gameplay got extremely tedious after awhile. Beat up guys, watch a cut scene, beat up more guys, more cut scenes....I suppose that part and parcel of the genre, but this game makes it seem so monotonous after a while. The cut scenes also break up the fluidity of the game play.

A must have for the PS2

I have been playing the game for over 5 hours of actually game time (according to the save data) There are multiple paths throughout the game and different endings. (I have counted five so far). This game is a must get. It really takes advantage of all the PS2 capabilities; the analog controlers (different moves based on how hard you press a button) dvd drive (it is a dvd-rom disk so even though there is over an hour or so of video on it it is still one disk. Great graphics.. Defeintly worth the buy

Supercool

Yeah, it's really easy. Yeah, it's really short. Yeah, there are a lot of cinemas. That doesn't make this game any less cool than it is. For someone like me, who isn't very good at action games, the very nice learning curve and low level of difficulty helped me to enjoy the game and the story more than I would have if it had been too hard, and the story and the graphics are, of course, since this is a Square game, awesome. Nomura's character designs are supercool, not just the hero but all of them--just wait until you see Dauragon (play Story through three times for the coolest Dauragon) and Kaldea. For some good, mindless fun and gorgeous graphics, this game is the best. The strangest thing about the game is that some of the characters are pretty much carbon copies of certain FF VII and VIII characters--but that's not a bad thing by any means.

First of all, i think The Bouncer was Overhyped. Reading all the bad and good reviews of this game i went ahead and bought it. It was very fun for the first week. Then the game just grew old. Sure it has exellent graphics and decent voice acting but the replay value and the gameplay was WAAAY off. Give it a ren't and make yourself a favor, don't buy it.
