Acclaim earned these 5 stars ...

I had this on the Sega Dreamcast but couldn't quite get into it. Call it the "dreaded" DC controller meets "subpar" visuals. But Acclaim and Bizzare Creations have really done it on PS2. This game is unusually stunning but at the same time unnervingly difficult. The game with its cartoon "cel-shaded" looks may give the wrong impression, this game is tough. Not one for real little kids; unless they stay in the BEAUTIFUL Fur Fighters Village where all is safe. Fur Fighters on the PS2 also has a delicious sense of humor (read the various signs and billboards posted around the city, FUNNY!) I took time away from the game (hehe, partly because I'm stuck!) to check the reviews and to my surprise this game had 2 additional reviews with 5 stars! In a world being swept away by the seriousness of Gran Turismo 3 and Metal Gear Solid 2, it's nice to know there are others who can appreciate the slender of cartoon escapism. Buy this.

A solid gaming experience

All things considered, this is probably my favorite PS2 game so far. It's a fantastic 3rd person, 3D shooter with game play that might remind you of the N64 game "Jet Force Gemini". The graphics are a quantum leap over the Dreamcast prequel. The PS2 has a new, "cartoon" look that really is quite amazing. The still screen shots can't do it justice. You need to see it in action. It really feels like you are walking around in the stark, minimalist world of an old-time cartoon. The control is just great. It takes a while to get used to, but once you do, it really clicks. Both analog sticks are usied for walking and looking, respectively. The D-pad switches guns and the shoulder buttons fire and jump. That's it. Brilliant in its simplicity. It felt a little odd at first, but it has "look-spring", meaning that your looking-direction returns to normal when you release the "look" stick. This is exactly the sort of thing that would have made games like "Unreal" and "Red Faction" more playable. I also find it a lot easier to get you bearings in the 3rd person POV. The music and sound effects are a nice touch, really imerssing the gamer in the cartoon world. The characters are genuinely funny, becuase despite the fact that they are plush animals, they take themselves very seriously. It really is one of the funnier games I've played. In a sense, this game has it all. Some of the best graphics on the system, great control, cool weapons, a pretty long quest (you won't beat this in a weekend)and TONS of secrets and cheats. But, you might be turned off by the silly style and look. I'd imagine it's going to be love or hate. Despite the game's merits, some gamers will not be able to get into the childish style of the game and will wind up missing out on an original, wonderful take on the shooter/adventure genres.

OK, I've put in more hours than I will admit to on GT3, and I found myself needing a change of pace. I picked up Fur Fighters because it was cheap. I haven't touched any of my other games since. FF is a completely original take on PS2 gaming. I never played it on another console, so I can't compare it to its previous editions. The graphics are fun, the action is intense, and there are so many different types of challenges to the game, you just can't get tired of it. It's a shooter, a platform, and adventure, and a puzzler. The only thing it isn't is an attempt at virtual reality, and that is what makes it an excellent change of pace for the system. Definitely worth $20-$30...I'd have gladly spent the normal $50 on it.

Nothing better than this

Ok. First of all , the other reviews you read, FOGET em. The controls are great, well thought up, and easy to use. as far as variety goes, this is one of the biggest games on the PS2. There are so many places to explore and a very wide selection of weapons.

This game also gives gamers such as myself, tons of challenging levels. Its also fun to see youre enimies roar at you like they are the best, not expecting you to fire a seeking rocket at their face. The game has O.k MutiPlayer battles, nothing special but still fun to play. If yure looking for a good multi-Tap game, I suggest you skip this one.

If you had to choose one game of the whole selection of PS2 games, NO QUESTION, this would be Your absolute best choice.

Great Game

Although the graphics are dodgy and the controls are hard to master, this is a great game. There are a whole load of massive levels, a huge armory of amazing weaponry, six different characters all with unique skills and attacks, mini-games as a reward for defeating each boss and hilarious cheats(for example; time slice camera, tiny and big heads). This game is not only really fun to play, but it will keep you occupied for longer than most of games.Ive had this game for over a year and I havent even finished it yet. YOU HAVE TO OWN THIS GAME. BUY IT NOW!

This game is so much fun! It's funny, kinda' quirky, and cute with a 'tude! The cel-shaded graphics are a bit hard to like at first, but they'll grow on you. The control is also of a different construction, you use the shape buttons to move and the left analog stick to look around. The d-pad is used for changing weapons. It can get a little confusing when you get into the thick of a battle, but after a while pushing the right button will become second nature. The levels are gargantuan, there's this one spot in one of the city levels, where you have to prance along a ledge, morph into Tweek (see more below) and then glide from building to ledge to building, then morph into Chang, and tip-toe your way along a very narrow ledge and into a room, where you get laid into by some bad guys. Sweet!!! That may sound hard, but at its basics the game is very simple (there is a training level where you get the whole nine yards, so when you get out there into the real game, you can do just about everything). The part that I find frustrating is to save babies (so that you can get to Viggo) you have to have their type of animal. There are six animals in all, a cat (Juliette), a dog ( Roofus), a penguin (Rico), a dragon (Tweek), a kangaroo (Bungalow), and a firefox (Chang, who is the ultimate in cool). Anyway, you have to morph between these to get babies and preform certain feats. It gets very frustrating trying to keep track of where you morph into whom. The bosses are tough, but not unbeatable. The hidden world is totally and radically awesome (I'll give you a teaser, it's a land where everything is scaled up to be the right size for a family of....... hee-hee, play the game you cheapskate). The fluff matches are amazingly entertaining (My brother and I go head to head, and really tick each other off). If you are looking for one of those games that is original, has a dang funny plot, will not be over in five days, and has big guns (yes!), ... THIS IS THE GAME!!!!!!

Now i have red some rewiews abouts this games control scheme being hard to work. But i found that while it may be a little confusing at first after awhile you will begin to love it. Also i love the cartoon graphics and witty humor. An overall must buy for gamers of all ages.

Unbelievable!!!!!

This is a port of the Dreamcast game, not a sequel

For an overview of this game, the review by Rob Damm is a very good. I just want to clear up one point: this game is a port of the Dreamcast version, not a sequel.

I was told by someone when I bought this game that it is a sequel; however, that is incorrect. While there are a number of substantial improvements over the DC version, many parts are the same. For example, all of the babies are in the exact same location in the World Quack Tower (first level) in the PS2 game as the DC game.

There are a number of fun new levels and sub-games, but the core of the game is the same. It is really fun, and I recommend buying it, but you should know what you are buying.
