Tony has not gone downhill

This is a great Wii game that actually takes advantage of the motion sensing functionality of the Wii.
In this game you control a racer with the Wii-mote in the Steering style. You can race or try to get a high score on the trick mode (like in SSX (PlayStation 2)). You can attack your opponents and if you hit jumps you can do all sorts of moves (also like SSX Tricky). In trick mode there are multipliers that increase your score (like in SSX 3..., ok so this isn't the most original game). Some people may have some issues since this game is quite unlike any other TH game, but it is actually quite similar to a particular boarding game.
Let me spell it out: Tony Hawk + SSX = one of the most fun Wii titles.

In the game you have the choice of several characters with slightly differing stats, as well as the ability to create your own character. As you play the single player game you can unlock new boards, people, and racing venues. All of the racing locations are based (somewhat liberally) on real world locations, like Glastonbury, Rio, Maccu Piccu, Rome, San Francisco...
This game is also a great multiplayer game and I guarantee you'll have lots of fun (or lots of cursing depending on how you finish your race).

This game is easy to learn, the controls are simple to understand, and anyone can pick up and play. Mastering the game however is a difficult process.
To be honest, I didn't expect much from this game, but it really has a lot to offer. I doubt that this game would be at the top of anyone's Wii list but it is definitely a quality title that you should try out, especially with some friends.

NOTE: The description for this game says: "online gameplay." To the best of my knowledge this is NOT an online enabled game.

Tony Hawk goes SSX, and its awesome

As a review said earlier, this game is not very original. I'm a huge fan of the ssx series, and while playing this I realized how similar it was, but still incredibly fun. I play multiplayer with 4 people, its so fun. Our favorite is doing big air (trick), makes my arms kinda sore, shake the remote backwards to do backflips and other cool moves. Other cool game modes are steal the head and elimination. A lot of cool courses, I believe its 12 in total. I highly recommend this game for those who want a fun multiplayer game, extremely similar to ssx, like on tour, but oh well, still awesome.

First game for the Wii that I've regretted buying

I decided to buy the game based on the very positive reviews I read here, and now I'm starting to wonder if Activision is seeding reviews. I can understand how it's possible for folks to have different opinions about some titles, but really, this game is just horrible on every level.

The graphics are poor, and that's in comparison to other initial Wii-released games. The use of the Wii controller is unimaginative. And the gameplay just stinks. To top off a lousy game, the cut scene quips between races are so insipid that I can't help but feel a little offended that any game developer would think that I--or anyone else--would actually be amused by the junk.

It's OK, I Guess :-(

Well I have been a fan
of the Tony Hawk series
pro skater 1 came out.
Downhill jam isn't as great
as I thought it would be.
It get's boring after the first 15 races and
it seems like you're just playing
the same race every time just on a new course.
This game was a BIG dissapointment

1st review is a lie dont listen!

It doesnt have that great graphics....Because you need a component cable to make the graphics good retarts of america! Oh yeah if you imagined hard enough the controls are as if you are leaning on a skateboard. AND it is fun! DONT listen to the first review

Lacking in many things except simplicity

I bought this game as one of my first Wii experiences. I knew not to expect any experiences that were similar to other Tony Hawk games. That was fine with me. It has been the over complexity of other Hawk games that has kept me from getting to engrossed in them. When I first started playing this game I realized the title made a lot of sense. The general intent of this game is to race downhill. You have the ability to do some simple skating moves like grinding and making trick jumps. This game began to remind me of a downgraded SSX and not of a skating title. It was hard to really get into the game since the controls are so simple and the courses seem very short. I began to realize this game is mainly intended for children. Not eleven or twelve year old children but children who are probably between five and eight. The simple moves and easy play make this a good title for younger children. The soundtrack in this game is decent but that is about the only excellent thing I can say. The graphics are lackluster and some of the animations are silly. I would have to say if you like simple games or have younger children this should be a good title.

Not a typical Tony Hawk

In my excitement for the Wii, I was less careful than I should have been. This is NOT a typical Tony Hawk game. It's a street race with an extremely limited selection of tricks and moves. I was expecting something much more akin to THPS/THUG. So I was very disappointed and it took me awhile to warm up to the game.

That said, it's not a bad racer. The controls take a bit of getting used to... especially if you're a THPS veteran. The levels have some decent variety and there are some very good ones, but many of them are quite bland. In racing games of this type, you get used to neat little short-cuts or even longer routes that are off the normal path, and you'll find those here, but they're very sparse (either that or extremely well hidden).

The graphics also lag behind other Wii titles like Excite Truck (a far better fantasy racing game). If you just HAVE to have a Tony Hawk game, then you probably already got this, but normal fans of either the Tony Hawk series or the Racing genre will find better options elsewhere.

Awesome game

Awesome game though the levels could have been a bit more difficult. But overall, very exciting, very enjoyable.

The kids love it!

I haven't got to play this game yet. The kids have hogged it since we got it in early January. Great game for the Wii. Except that when my wife watches the kids play, she gets motion sickness from watching the screen. That's how realistic it is.
