Completely inane

I am so glad we rented this instead of purchasing it. Over 90% of the time spent on this game is used to follow a soap-opera like storyline. This is beyond annoying. Very little time is spent actually operating. Except for one of the first few scenes, you don't really operate on a person with a real disease. Everyone seems to come down with this mysterious affliction of GUILT. Then you chase little bee- or fish-looking things around inside the patient with the hopes of eradicating their GUILT-induced disease. How STUPID! Save your money folks.

Great Concept, Poor Execution

I loved this game for the Nintendo DS(tm), and I'm disappointed that this version for the Nintendo Wii(tm) is such a stinker. The controls are PERFECT and much, much better than those on the DS, but the mission goals aren't explained well, and you'll frequently find your patients dying because the game doesn't explain what you're supposed to do next.

I don't mind losing a game because I need to be more skilled, but losing because the game is confusing and poorly written is annoying as heck. I hope they eventually release a follow-up to this that's been properly tested.

Lame

I have a medical background, so I was excited when I saw the game. However, after 5 minutes of reading dialog about the history of the hospital and 5 minutes of reading what the nurse thought, the actual first surgery was a let down. It was difficult to use the remotes for this game and the forceps did not work well to remove glass from the wound. The style was Japanese anime with lots of reading dialog (no talking). The surgeries were lame. There are much better medical games for the PC.

I just got it and I like it a lot

I skimmed through instructions a few minutes and then I did surgery on 3 people this morning LOL. It's the closest I will ever get to being a real surgeon so I think it's fun. Anyone that likes to watch medical shows or when they were a child they liked to play operation would love this.

I just did heart surgery

I found this game surprisingly enjoyable, despite my first impressions based on the title, the missions are fun, and not nearly as gore filled as one might expect. There is an interesting story line and the game is just plain fun.

addicting

this game is so fun i never want to stop playing it.

keeps you interested with the many challenges and the unique characteristics of the game. Would recomend this to anyone who enjoys quick thinking games.

only problem i have is that there is a lot of subtitle conversations that you cannot skip and are very cheesy and boring but it doesnt take away from the game.

This game is awesome!

I got the Wii sometime in late January and this was one of the first games I bought. What my two cents? One word. INCREDIBLE!

Okay, so most of the operations are not realistic, but who cares? In this game, you play Dr. Derek Stiles and Dr. Nozomi Weaver(Naomi Kimishima). The story takes place in the year 2018. Dr. Stiles is an inexperienced surgeon who starts at Hope Hospital that you can make the best surgeon in the world if you complete all the missions. He has an assistant name Angie Thompson. Dr. Weaver is a surgeon who works at St. Francis Hospital. She originally was a surgeon in Japan, but she was stripped of her license. In this game, you have to mostly operate on a fictional disease called Guilt.
There are 7 types.

Kyriaki- Little bats(the animal) that create lacerations internally. Comes in mature and immature versions.
Deftera- Mobile tumors that look a lot like fantail goldfish.
Triti- Multiple membranes with thorns holding them down.
Tetari-Little creatures that make poisonous abcesses.
Pempti- a gelantinous fluid that affects the lungs.
Paraskevi- a fibrous worm that can burrow into organs.
Savato- a spider that makes webs around the heart to steal its energy.

Well, this is the end of my review. Basically, this is probably the best game ever. Buy this game!

AN AWESOME GAME -- HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

I just got a Wii for christmas and received this game- it is a blast! It is so much fun, the controls are easy to learn and use, overall it is a wonderful game. But then again, so are almost all Wii games.....!

Not quite appropriate for young ones, plot is "so-so"

I have to disagree with the first review of this game. I have a 6 year old and a 4 year old, and even an 11 year old cousin and I would not recommend this for children. You literally cut people open, dissect their legions and repair wounds, take out glass shards-and if you slip, you wind up stabbing your "patient" making them worse. I would leave it very much up to the discretion of the parent before purchasing this game for a young child. It is NOTHING like the game OPERATION. RENT IT FIRST.
Next, I have to say that unless you are a HUGE fan of anime, and I am not, you will not like the graphics at all. There is no movement, its just anime frames, and it looks like Speed Racer put on some scrubs and decided to play doctor.
HOWEVER, for teenagers and adults, I have to say the actual "surgeries" that you perform are A LOT of fun, but get much, much harder as you go along with the game. Its challenging and entertaining. Everything you would want in a game.

What do you people like about this game?!

The story line is stupid and even when you skip through it, it takes FOREVER.

I thought you'd be doing open heart surgeries and such but it quickly becomes you shooting alien viruses with a laser. You even have to disarm a bomb in one episode.

Don't waste your time.
