Bloodwake has great graphics and the gameplay is pretty cool. I found myself thinking the game was a little easy, but come about the 7th mission it started becoming a little more difficult. I guess they are trying to ease you into the game. I have enjoyed playing the game so far the only thing I don't like about the game is that it's not as fast paced as I would like it to be. The boats don't move that fast it's almost like controling an ocean liner instead of a lean mean fighting machine. Besides that the game seems fun for what I have played so far. It's worth a look see.

I rented this game to play with my girlfriend. After watching the uninspiring cut scenes, which could have been done on a Super NES, we were ready for the boating action. Unfortunately the deathmatch and storyline games are both so bleak and repetitive this game would qualify as the first shareware Xbox game, except it costs as much as a quality game like Halo. After a few games, I returned it straight to Blockbuster, even though there were still three days left on the rental. I'm really glad I bought SSX Tricky just after I rented Blood Wake.

Blood Wake is good but could've been better

Stormfront Studios' Blood Wake for the Xbox video game console was one of the first generation games for that system. Released in early 2002, Blood Wake combined the fast-paced gameplay and mayhem similar to the Twisted Metal series of games but with boats and water being the vehicle and environment of choice.

The game itself was pretty much, when boiled down to its basic core, an excuse to blow-up and destroy as many targets on the screen as possible during any given stage mission. All this is wrapped in a simple, yet good storyline which unfolds whenever a stage is completed thus unlocking the next one. Just like Twisted Metal, the player can choose from a variety of boats and weapons configuration to play through the game. From the early going the choice are pretty limited, but none of the choices are so bad and basic that one couldn't achieve their stage objectives and unlock better boats and equipment. Most stages just require the player to destroys targets deemed important to finishing the stage with optional ships and coastal defenses as targets of oppurtunity to help pad the score.

The game at the beginning is pretty fun in that the water environment adds a new factor in controlling the vehicles and aiming the weapons. But as the game progresses to later stages of the story it just seemed to rehash earlier levels but with stronger enemies and more side onjectives. From start to finish Blood Wake became an action-shooter which stayed the coure instead of improving with each successive level.

The graphics on Blood Wake was pretty good for a first generation game on the Xbox. The detail on the different boats and their weapons were pretty well done. The water effect and movement were also pretty to look at though if more time was set aside to designing and developing this aspect of the game it could've turned out great.

Overall, Blood Wake became just such a game. It was a good game to try out and rent, but never came close to being a great one to justify having to buy it.

All good BUT the controls are very frustrating!

Like my title says, this game has it all, mass destruction, flying objects, and my favorite unlockables! Although the game is rated very low and it had poor controls, the water graphics and the game itself is most impressive. Don't judge this game by just reviews, don't even judge it by MINE! Go out and rent this game first. Beileve me, i think you'll enjoy it quite well.

I was really looking forward to Blood Wake, as it was one of my most anticipated post launch games. What I got, was a letdown.

The game has unbelievable water effects and gameplay is quite fun to play, yet frustrating at times. There are over 25 different type of missions, some incredibly easy others mind boggling difficult. My biggest complaint though, is the lack of story. The game is told through drawings and is poorly done. The voice acting while mediocre becomes annoying and silly at times. The sound is also poor. The battle mode is fun but lacks the maps, boats, and modes to make it replayble. This game could have been much more.

All in all, I feel this was a botched effort by Stormfront Studios. It is a decent game but could have been wonderfully done if given the time and effort. My take, give it a rent before you fork over the [PRICE] for this game.

Do NOT BUY this game!

This game is very fun. There is only one problem. There is only maximum of 6 different weapons for each boat which stinks. In all though this game is very fun.

Well it doesn't totally suck, but.....

I found the graphics in this game quite impressive, however the storyline leaves quite a bit to be desired.

You have to complete the storyline mode in order to unlock boats for multiplayer head to head combat, but the missions simply alternate between multiple fairly easy missions followed by one or two that take many attempts.

When you can finish the story mode in under a week, the only thing left is head to head play, so don't count on this being one that gets played much after your initial voyage through the storymode.
