6 Year Old Can't Put it Down

4 Rating: 4, Useful: 0 / 0

I bought this for my son's 6th birthday. He has not been able to put it down. It is a very basic play concept which made it easy for him to pick it up and run with it. I do think an adult would be bored quickly.
We have not been able to find out how to unlock the later levels but hopefully, he will as much fun when we do.

Nice game, but not for very long

The game has nice graphics and good user controls. The biggest bummer is that you cannot save your progress. So every time you start the game you always start on the same starting level. This gets old. Only if you finish an episode (multiple levels - which can take over and hour) can you then "skip" forward to the next level upon start.

If you're like me and your favorite parts of these Star Wars movies are the space fighting scenes, then this game is for you.My only dissapointment was the streaming star effect when you use the lightspeed feature.I went to the movies 5 times as a kid to see that back then.Oh well, but this is still awesome!!!!

Fun game, but a little hard.

Over all, this was a fun game. But as my title says it was hard. I think that most people will get stuck on leval 2 as I did. (Hint: if you get far enough before time runs out you beat the leval.)With 14 fun levals it's a good game.

THIS GAME SUX

I got this game because I usually liked flying star wars games, such as rogue squadron. I turns out that this isn't nearly as good. It's boring getting past the first level, and there are about 4 levels to get through if you want to get the password. I say save your money and you'll be happy.

Cool Pocket Star Wars Shoot-em-up

I bought it because it was Star Wars. I had to. Any chance to shoot TIE Fighters with the Millenium Falcon is okay with me.

The graphics and sound are remarkable considering this is on a hand-held system. The detail is excellent and I especially like hearing Chewbacca roar when you make menu selections.

The 3D rendering can get a little confusing and this is where it takes lots of patience and practice. There are a few levels you have to do while dodging structures (e.g. Mos Eisley, the trench run) and it does get difficult. Sorry, but you're not going to beat this game the first dozen times you play it. To me, that makes it a challenging game, not a bad game.

The one I'm not too crazy about is that you don't get a password until you pass quite a few levels. Basically, you have to go through the whole plot line of "A New Hope" before you can get a password and save your game. Otherwise, if you die and go through all your continues, it's back to the beginning, buddy.

In conclusion: buy it if you're a Star Wars fan--you'll have fun no matter how far you get in the game. Not a fan--save your money because you'll likely get frustrated.

Thanks for reading.

Do you have what it takes to best the empire?

Jump into the cockpit of the most popular ship in the Star Wars univers to outrun, outblast, and outsmarte the Empire(all with graphics that you thought were impossible on a GBA) in this all-new, classic starwars game. Pilot the Falcon, as well as other spacecraft, to relive the battles of Yavin and Endor as TIE Fighters and bombers attempt to take you out. Can you outrun the Empire with a GBA?

Note: The game seemes to vaguely follow Return of the Jedi...

Run don't walk away from this lemon of a game.

I bought this game because most Star Wars games are decent. It looked decent on the back, sort of like an updated version of the old vector arcade Star Wars, except using the Falcon instead of an X-Wing.
The first level was not bad, the 2nd is almost impossible. The worst part of he game is there is no battery save and on top of that if you dont complete the entire "movie" sequence of levels, you have to start at the very beginning. One of the worst titles I've ever picked up on GBA, definitely a rent, i'll be trading mine in for sure. Reeks up there with "Disney Party"

Good for Old Schoolers

4 Rating: 4, Useful: 2 / 3

I think I speak for a growing number of old school game players who, like me, got the new Gameboy ASP after years of just messing around with emulators and other ways of playing games from the '80s, maybe playing a few games at friends' houses.

With the new sleek look of the new Gameboy, we were drawn to the idea of having great games in our pocket. We've tried a lot of the new titles, but always seem to end up playing the old games on cartidges like "Namco Museum," "Atari Anniversary" and "Activision Anthology." While we really enjoy these games, we wish for a little more of a modern experience while holding on to the old shcool ethos.

Well, I say that this is the best game I have now and it's just great for old schoolers who don't want to spend a lot of time pressing combinations of buttons to change weapons, find things, and "use" things. A straight-ahead shooter, FOTF reminds me a lot of a 3-D Galaga. Shoot your A** off and groove to the theme music.

I've read complaints that the 3-D graphics aren't great, but you know what? It's a Gameboy, get over it, this isn't an X-box. The graphics are amazing for a Gameboy and really draw you into the game.

I've read complaints that the targeting is difficult. I see the targeting as being a lot more like older video games: you actually have to put the target on the the thing you want to shoot in order to destroy it ... sorry newbie game players, you just can't float across something and expect to get it.

The game does get pretty hard and I haven't travelled too far. But, if you have the pass word to unlock all the levels, you basically have a few different games to fool around with -- including the Bonus round that's like an old Atari Defender-style side-shooter.

Overall, I found this game really satisfying. It's got an old school feel with new school graphics and sounds. Some may find it repetitive and boring, but they're the ones who are into reading "plot lines" with their games. Shoot away.
