Impressive AI

This is a very intense shooter. Loved the whole ambiance feel and sound (play in the dark with your surround sound up). The AI is great in this game. Overall nothing too ground breaking but a good solid shooter.

Good game, could've been better..

Pros:
Spooky and scary
Story Line is good.

Cons:
Framerate is horrible
Load time is horrible
maps could've been detailed and they could've used more imagination.
Online play is boring, nothing creative.

I probably wont be playing this game after i finish it. Though it is a good game, i was somewhat disappointed. I'm having fun playing it... but i dont think the fun factor is going to last long. i'd love to lie to everyone about my rating because i'm a diehard PS3 fan... but you might just want to rent this game 1st.

F.E.A.R. not really next-gen but fun to play.

I have to agree with the general concensus. The graphics overall are 'eh' ok. I thought the graphics did get better further on in the game and they are enhanced when in 'focus or slomo' mode. It's not what I hoped it would be but once you master the techniques it is very fun to play. I would recommend renting it first but give it a chance. I'd say 3-5 hours of gameplay should tell you if it is a game for you. I've beaten it once and am playing through a second time on a harder setting. The story is interesting and there are a few creepy spots in the game. Play it in the dark late at night.:)

Considerations!

F.E.A.R. is a good game and I don't know why people are fussing so much. Now I have to agree with everybody that, yes the graphics were shocking and lacked the proper fruit of what the PS3 can dish out. The story line is not too enticing either. But the gameplay is astounding. I think that people can look past the polish and glitter aspects of a game and appreciate this one for its action-shooting thrills. The blood effects were very well developed. The art of every weapon is very well detailed. It may not be creepy, but can drive the imagination. All in all I think if you like action and shooting games F.E.A.R. will serve you plenty of fun.

A cross between The Suffering & Black

I bought this game last week & so far my opinion of it is, well its ok...
The graphics are not that spectacular although the A.I. on the enemies is awesome. I have played many games like this & you can just about predict what the enemy is going to do in each spot if you repeat the game in an area. Not this one. The enemy is unpredictable & you don't know where they will appear from as they flank you. They will flush you out with grenades if they feel you are trying to lure them. This combined with the creepy aspect of the game is this game's only stellar features I feel. It has many of the same qualities as The Suffering which is in my opinion one of the most scary games as of yet. The character in F.E.A.R. has panic attacks & hallucinations the same as Torque from The Suffering. To me any game attempting the same genre gimmicks as The Suffering has big shoes to fill. The gunplay & effects is very similar to Black. The bullet casings flying about & the damage done to the environment is very similar. As other reviewers stated the load times are very slow. At 1st I thought the system locked up & I almost rebooted the system because it took so long.
I am sure the further I get into the game it will get more interesting but it hasn't grabbed me & sucked me giving me sore fingers like Resistance Fall of Man, God Of War, God Of War 2, Manhunt, The Suffering. I hope PS3 makes more games like those. It has the capability to do so.

I find it hard to believe someone could give this game less than 4 stars.I have a large screen high def tv and a great surround system so my gaming experience might be a little different but i was playing black ps2 and then started on fear and the graphics are way better than ps2. this game is action packed, lots of suspense and definatly rocks. Even the ps2 games look grainy after you play ps3 games. kinda like vhs compared to dvd but blu ray smokes dvd's. throw in a game like area 51 or splinter cell and then play this game and you will see a huge difference. If you like shooter games i would suggest you pick this one up. If you dont want to pay full price just wait a little after its released and buy it used. I guess i never expect video games to become virtual reality but compared to atari or nintendo i dont think i will ever find a nex generation game thats bad because if it was bad enough for me to give it 1 star they would never release it. Hear there already working on f.e.a.r. 2!!!!!!!

Im starting to get aggravated with all this money Im wasting on games that are supposed to be good. But Fear is addicting.! The frame rate makes it hard to play when its crowded. We need a good one! Resistance, now thats a game!

Not Worth It

Alright I just rented this game and all I have to say is the graphics suck! It looks like Perfect Dark on N64...The framerate isn't too hot either and the load times are pretty lengthy as well...I'm playing it on a widescreen HDTV with a HDMI cable running in 720p and if it's not looking good on that you could only expect worse on anything less...Rent It First!

First of all, this game is not scary or even creepy. Play Doom 3 if you want that. Same kind of battles against the same enemy, level after level. No surprises anywhere. The slow motion action ruins the graphics. Enemy kills are nice though. I played the game once through and did not have the desire to play it again. This game is ranked considerably higher for the Xbox 360 version.
