80 Days to a travel adventure...

I really enjoyed this game. It had many places to visit and many things to do when you got there. There were several ways to travel on your journey. He traveled by cruise ship, train and helium balloon. There were also several modes of transportation when he was on land. You could drive a sports car, elephant, flying carpet or wheel vehicle. This made it very interesting. I did download the patch which makes it run smoother. He changed into different funny costumes also. At times I really laughed. Some of the puzzles were quite challeging but fun. At first it was hard to run the key board with the mouse. I learned to click twice on the up arrow to make him stay in running mode and then I could steer him with the mouse. It would have been nice if they had let you save more times. At one point, it was a very long time with challenging puzzles in between before I reached a save point so I had to go over and over but finally got it. The game has its own save points. I am used to making my own. All in all it was quite enjoyable and fun and well worth buying.

IF you like Tex Murphy games, Stupid Invaders, Syberia, Runaway, Myst, Liesure Suit Larry (Old Games), or the Broken Sword Series, then STOP.
This game is the classic Tomb Raider, Indiana Jones Epilogues.
I rest my Case .........

I really enjoyed playing this game despite the few bugs here and there ~ the graphics are superb and the storyline is very interesting...

I played as a tourist as I did not want to be timed...

A decent prototype for the new adventure game...

...Now if they could only get the fun factor factored in, this type of exploration based gameplay might appeal to a more broad crowd..While offereing a huge variety of places to explore in pretty beautiful 3d rendered locations, 80 days gameplay quickly devolves into uninspired fetch quests, which is a shame because this game had a lot of potential with it's fresh format.

WOW!!!

This game is nothing short of amazing! The graphics are incredible and the navigation within the game is a real hoot! (riding the camel, etc.) I'm not a great fan of keyboard navigation, I prefer a mouse or game pad, but I'll get used to it. The game is worth it. I did have a bit of a problem with the autorun feature when I installed it, but I got around it. This game makes great use of my new computer system (XPS Next Gen 5, duel core 464 Gig hard drive with 2 Gig memory) I doubt my old system would have handled the intense graphics.

This game did not live up to my expectations. Moving the main character around was very difficult. I played for a while and had to quit. My 80 days was going fast because I couldn't manuever. It would have been a great game. Don't waste your money. By the way, I will try to finish the game but I have to build up my tolerance and patience.

Follow the linear path to the next cutscene.

That's what this game boils down to. I played the entire game and I don't think that I would want to do it again. All you do is follow the direction of the arrows shown in the mini-map and trigger another cutscene. There are some puzzles along the way but some of them are so arbitrary that you will most likely be peaking at a walkthrough.

This game felt more like watching an animated movie that being totally immersed in a pc game. Most everything that you do is just go to the direction of the little arrows in your mini-map. You really can't explore anything. Everything besides the linear path is not accessible. You can't enter any other buildings and the people you run into outside the linear path just say the same thing over and over.

Now the bugs. There are bugs in this game. The most frequent are freezing lock ups. About every 30-40 minutes of gameplay, the game will just freeze and then resume after about 10-15 seconds. It happens all the time and will guarantee to frustrate you. There's also some clipping, invisible walls, crashing to the desktop, etc. You will experience these things no matter what system you have or if your are using the 1.1 patch or not. And, there are NO quick saves or any type of manual saves for that matter. The game saves at checkpoints. With these type of bugs, you're lucky if you make it sometimes until the next checkpoint.

I really wanted to like this game but, in the end, it just didn't immerse me into a game like I wanted it to. I kept a Bombay demo for it though, the full version is just not worth keeping.

This game would have been much more fun and easier to play if you could control everything with the mouse, versus having to use your keyboard.

Silly, but fun and beautiful

80 days creates a beautifully designed 3-D world with a strong Art Nouveau aesthetic. The game play is not too difficult and the humor is very silly--mainly involving anachronisms and jokes about Scotsmen and kilts. Although the game engine is not "state of the art," the production values--music, voice acting, and localization are all very good. Frogwares is a company to watch if you enjoy period adventure games set in 3-D environments.
