I ussed to play monkey island when i was young and just a while ago i saw the new one on amazon. I felt like a challange and ordered it strait away. I think that this episode is the best so far and with the better efeects and the movie sequences it gets a 10/10. The jokes are hilarious and the scenes extreamly imagenative. if you have half a brain you will have fun. BUY it.

It's even good animated!

As a long time fan of the monkey island games, I was at first a little skeptical as to whether this game would live up to the previouse two, which, though the graphics were lacking, contained great story lines that made you want to play and laugh all over again. However it took about 5 minutes into the game before I realized that this one was exactly like the other two.

With it's interesting, and quite humoruse story line, it's cool tropical music, and it's blatant parodies to the various works of Gorge Lucas, Everyone is sure to love this swashbuckling tale of adventure. And if you don't, we'll lock you in a room with Murry.

One of the best games in this genre

My wife and I sat down and played this game over a few months, and we had a lot of fun! My wife is not the kind of person who would ever play a video game, but we enjoyed it anyway. You do not need to have played the first two games in this series, this game can stand alone. We found the game humourous and quirky and just plain entertaining.

I have played all four monkey island games and this one by far is the BEST. The background art is one of the most amazing aspects of this game, also the storyline is great. The graphics of this game are uncomparably superior to the first two. I had been waiting for the arrival of this game for so long and when I finally got it, it was better than I had ever imagined it would be.

Rather Timeless

The graphics are so unique and they make no attempt to be realistic so even amidst newer games, curse of monkey island holds its own. The voices are good and the jokes are great. I took one star off because unless you like to be boggled this game isn't for you. I must admit, I had to resort to online walkthroughs while playing this game because some of the puzzles are solved in the oddest ways -- most of them are far from logical. At this price, however, if you want a fun game -- curse of monkey island is for you. :)

Monkey Island! A review for the obsessed...

I own all four of the Monkey Island games. Of course, they are all very good, but this remains my favorite. Unless you hate funny, puzzling games with good graphics, pirates and ex-cannibals, this is a game you must play. I have to admit that some problems are hard to solve without the cheat sheets (which you can get at cheatcc.com) but if you use them, use them as a guide the first time. After one or two plays you should be able to go through the whole game with no problems. And it is one of those games you play more than once, you have to. I don't know exactly what it is, but this game is the best , I couldn't reccomend better. Gubrush, LeChuck, Lemonhead, and of course the demonic skull Murray keep you in your seat until your done, and then you want to start all over again. It has a good plot, good graphics, and it's not a hard game to understand just one you have to figure out. For those of you that aren't beginners, but obsessed fans, you should know all this, so my message to you is buy them all if you haven't already and keep being a Monkey Island fan!

A very good game

this game should be put down as one of the best games ever. i own all of the monkey island games (not counting Escape) and this is the best installment yet. the only cons are the "swordfighting" and 1-2 puzzles are vague at first.

an addictive game

This game was truly one of the best rpgs i have ever played. It is perfect for those who enjoyed the kings quest series or the kryandia series. This game has teriffic graphics and lotsa comedy, plus, it has two settings, hard and easy, so you can play it over and over again. I highly reccomend this game.

Some Big Shoes To Fill

Curse of Monkey Island has some big shoes to fill. Coming on the heels the award winning Secret of Monkey Island and LeChucks Revenge of was not an easy task. This game has the monkey island humor, the charcters and the style, so whats missing? The truth is, a point and click adventure can only be fun for so long. At the end of the day, this comes off as feeling like the same adventure, with new graphics and more dialoge. The game, once again, puts you in the shoes of Guybrush Threepwood. This time, Guybrush's wife, Elaine, has been cast into gold, and he must find away to free her from the spell. Fans of the series will notice the quirks from the first 2 games, remain in this one, as well as some of the charcters. The problem is, the game feels to straightforward. Like all Lucas adventures, it is impossible to die, so you feel no sense of freedom, just very limited. Another problem is Guybrush now comes off as very annyoing. A common scenario is you've been spending 2 hours trying to figure out a puzzle, and you are looking for an item in your inventory to use, and Guybrush says "I cant use that!" in an irrated tone. It can get VERY annoying. Plus the puzzels are near impossible without use of a guide. Overall, the game has its funny moments, but the moments of anger and annoyness far outweight those of fun.

It's like reading a funny comic strip with brain teasers!

This is a game that any true adventure lover MUST add to their collection. It keeps things alive with witty jokes, puns, and overall silliness but doesn't get too annoying. The puzzles you must solve are at about a medium difficulty throughout the game and don't really get any harder or easier. Once you solve the first few you can expect the rest to be about the same. I never play adventure games more than once because I already know the solutions, but I must admit I've played this a couple of times already and I'll probably play it some more. It's like reading a funny comic strip with brain teasers! This game supplies HOURS of enjoyment. I consider it a must have. Also check out Grim Fandango. It's the only adventure game I like more than this one!
