great, but what a hassle with Vista

I have always been a Simphile and had to upgrade this when I bought a new computer. But running this with Vista is a pain! Here are some tips if you do: open through start menu, select sims, choose size and right click and run as Administrator. And save often....it still likes to crash.

A bit overwhelming

I love playing The Sims, but there's a reason that they release the expansion packs slowly -- it's too overwhelming to start off with all of them at once. This program would be perfect if you were able to install the expansion packs as you wished. It is a lot cheaper than buying everything individually, but the game is too overwhelming at first with 7 expansions right off the back.

My suggestion, start off slow. Just get your sims jobs and start making friends. After that, experiment with buying new stuff, then having parties, then checking out the date scene, etc... Keep the odd stuff for later like the superstar and vacation stuff.

Great Deal!

I got this game a few weeks ago. I was actually going to buy the deluxe edition to save money but this was the only one in stock so I bought it instead and I am so glad I didn't buy the deluxe edition because livin large is booooring and all the other expansion packs are a lot of fun!

Hot Date- All-new downtown where you can take your sims on dates or just go there for a stroll and meet new peopl!
Livin Large- The first expansion pack probably inspired by players' ideas, put in all new things you never had in the original sims, sex and aliens. A fortune telling ball, and a voodoo doll!
Unleashed- All new lots with the ability to buy pets from and train or just keep for social entertainment.
Vacation- Your sims stressed out? Your sims going crazy? Then take them on a vacation to the all-new vacation island. Will it be a beach? A lodge? Or the great pines?
House Party- A all-new option to have a party. Choose from various themes for your party, will it be a wild toga party? A room rave? That's all up to you!
Superstar- Ever wanted to be a superstar? YOUR sims ever want to be a superstar? Well, now they can! Use the all-new town-insider mag to find an agent and then when you find one, call up the cab and go to studio town! Sing or model or act or even maybe shoot a music video! Or record a music video?
Makin Magic- Ever want to have powers? YOUR sims ever want to be a witch or a wizard? Well now they can be one! All-new items to help your sims become magical sims! Want to cast a bad spell on a rude neighbor who refused to be nice to you? Your child sims want to grow up? Want to turn a boyfriend into a toad? Now you can! With this all-new expansion pack!

I have bought several of the Sims games for my daughter and sometimes had trouble playing them and would have to uninstall and reinstall anytime she wanted to play a different one. I bought this set for her birthday and she has played it for HOURS!!! She hasn't had ANY trouble installing or playing the different games. I would recommend it for the avid Sims fan!!!!

The classic virtual doll-house

Originally released in 2000, The Sims succeeded Myst (1993) as the best-selling video game ever produced. It was followed by seven expansion packs over the course of the next three years, which were eventually compiled into a single package and released as "The Sims: Complete Collection" in 2005.

Lacking any notable strategy, role-playing, action, or puzzle elements, The Sims instead offers a virtual doll-house inhabited by animated, semi-autonomous dolls known as the Sims. Gameplay consists of leading one's Sims through their day-to-day lives as they make food, use the toilet, go to work, sleep, socialize, and learn new skills. The game also features a mode in which the players can redesign and redecorate their Sims' homes.

Money cheats are popular, giving the player the ability to create their Sims' dream homes without waiting for the Sims to earn the needed money through work.

The game's artificial intelligence is a common source of frustration, particularly in the Sims' inability to resolve race conditions in using bathrooms, frequently leading to messy situations and unhappy Sims.

I got it all seperatly

I wish that I had known that they were going to do this. I loved the first disc so much that I bought all the expansions at full price as they came out. Thats about $40-$50 a piece. OH-WELL, I don't think I could have waited this long to play anyway. This complete collection is a steal and I would recommend The Sims to everyone. Stay up late and enjoy the game.

One of the most addictive games you will ever play!

These games really bring back memories. I never was really into video games until I found these games and got absolutely obsessed with them. I think that this set would be a good start if you've never played the sims games before at all.You can't beat a game and it's seven expansions on four discs for only $40. I also recommend The Sims 2,and the expansion packs The Sims 2 University,The Sims 2 Nightlife, and The Sims 2 Open for Business.

couldn't wait

I'm 9 and I LOVE the game! It was difficult at first. In Magic Town there are fun duels, but if your guy is angry he/she won't do the duel. Also, you can build your own house. When you put wallpaper on, click on the wall and hit the shift button and unclick. BYE!!

Worth It!

I bought Sims 2, then the Original Sims Pack. I absoltley have been spoiled by Sims 2. The orginal Sims offers next to no character customization. You have to go with all the pre fabricated bodies and heads, and it will be jarring if you're used to having options! (That's what brought my review down to 4)Some of them are weird (think Xena). That said, you can still find normal Sims.

If you've ever fantazised about having a roller coaster in your backyard, this game is for you. Sims Makin' Magic puts a black hole in your yard so all you have to do is jump. The roller coaster is a lifesaver for the fun need. Your Sims social, and fun needs are also met by watching a show.

I haven't used the vacation mode yet becuase it costs 500.00. My Sim likes to buy stuff for her house instead. I love Superstar. You can get money by being a Model, Actress or Musician or try all three(trying all three ups your star level). I much prefer Superstar to having a regular job. The Obseesed fan is kind of creepy though. He'll actually walk into your Sims house, and leaves before your Sim has a chance to call the cops who do nothing. You can turn him into a toad though, thanks to the Magic expansion. Also love the stray pets running around. It gives you the benefits of having a pet without the responsibility.I wish they would stop falling asleep in the middle of the road. What pet stays asleep - in the road of a car! - when the car is honking it's horn?!

The only other real drawback is if you've never played any of these games before, getting them all at once is overwhelming.

A graphics dinasour

After having only known, played, and become a die-hard fan of The Sims 2, I bought this TS1 collection out of sheer curiosity. Boy oh boy was I surprised when I installed it. I never would have guessed the huge difference in graphics quality (or lack thereof) in this game in comparison with The Sims 2. I've never seen such a giant leap in game and graphics quality between game versions until now. I'm SO glad I already have The Sims 2, along with all of the expansion packs and add-ons, to keep me entertained, but this was at least worth the cost to check it out and to collect. It also comes with all of the expansion packs already included, too so that's a big time/money saver. I may fiddle around with this version a bit more in the future, but I'm quite thoroughly satisfied with The Sims 2 and it's hard to take such a big step backward graphics-wise and quality-wise and still have as much fun. So I'm only giving this 3 stars.
