Very mixed feelings

I bought "Emergency Room 2" to improve on my medical knowledge and came away with mixed feelings about this game. It does have a wide variety of medical knowledge contained within, ranging from a medical glossary on your "Palm Pilot" in the game to specific details about where and when to use a certain instrument. Therefore, I can't complain too much about my objective to increase my medical knowledge. I can say that the gameplay was average. There is a huge learning curve when you start out playing the game. It isn't clear how to move from one step to the next (ie - interact w/ patient, then bring them in to diagnose) and there aren't any gameplay instructions that come with the game. The patient cases are relatively interesting, anything ranging from a simple "I stepped on something" up to a gunshot wound. Some patients turn out to be plain boring. Others are very interesting and require detailed work, including complete diagnosis, imaging, treatment and "doctor's orders". However, the most important advice I can give regarding this game is that I can forsee most people getting tired and bored with the game very quickly. I believe this would happen by nature because as soon as your are done with one patient, it's back to the waiting room to start the entire process all over again. I gets monotonous. This is why I bring it down to three stars. I played mine for a solid five or six hours one weekend but doubt I'll ever pick it up again; I'll probably default to another game.

Pretty good...for the price...

I bought this program in a pack with 2 other games, "Life or Death" and "Disaster Strikes", two specialized versions of the game. All were similar. I came to know about this product after going on the TLC website and playing the online version, which was much slower. I, personally, loved this game at first...but that was over a year ago. We have trained our minds to think newer is better, and it may be, but our medical knowledge rarely changes on subjects presented in this program. Yes, it gets repetetive, and I have had the same patients dozens of times. I think it allows for to much leniancy, that you can choose what patient you want before you enter the waiting room...BUT overall, it is a fairly good game and will satiate your medical hunger!!

Very Different

A very different game, it's pretty entertaning but it can get quite boring when you've already treated the baby that hit her head on a sprinkler a million times. Dr. D. Boss seems like a normal boss, a little nicer than some.

I don't know what her name is, but there is this nurse that flirts with you every chance she gets...which is quite comical.
Don't order unessacary procedures and tests, or else it will come back to bite you in the end.
The graphics leave something to be desired, and it's kind of annoying when you treat this one brunette, 16 year old and once you get done treating her, you go back to the waiting room to select a new patient and she's there again!

The same use of charecters makes you feel like you never treated that person at all.

It can get a little boring and the patients can get rude, but if you play it in moderation, it will be okay.
Good luck to the new Dr. Carter's!
