It's like playing iSpy.

This game is a good way to kill some time, and the graphics are very good, but overall I found the game to be redundant and not something I could really get into.

What you do is go on 14 dive missions to various parts of the Titanic. Your mission is to collect missing "artifacts". Some artifacts might include lizards, pears, and warheads. Other artifacts might include old coins, candlesticks, and antique radios. Each mission gets progressively harder as you search through the picture looking for the hidden items.

After collecting the artifacts you are often then given a puzzle (literally) to solve, or you might have to find some artifacts using just the silhouette.

My daughter and I found it to be mindless fun, but dive after dive it does start to get boring.

Since it's a timed game, the ultimate goal is to collect all of the artifacts and complete all 14 dives. I have finished the first 12, so I can't say how it ends, but it's a good time waster and might be considered good entertainment for children 7-10 years old. Adults may enjoy it as well, but the challenges are far too easy to make this more than a 1-2 day game. On the other hand, younger children might spend weeks on this game.

Finally, the games has no voice and is devoid of characters, and plays eerie music the entire time. Luckily you can turn off the music and play your itunes.

Atmospheric!

You dive and you dive searching the beautifully created Titanic wreck for hidden objects. And it's not all that easy! Some of the objects are very tiny and the clues are deliberately misleading: for instance is "bass" a fish or a string instrument? Is a "bat" a flying creature or a baseball bat? A "sand clock" fooled me for a long time, but it shouldn't have. That was an hour glass. The graphics are really marvelous, and will more or less suck you in. The Grand Staircase scene certainly is based on the actual Grand Staircase, as it is easily recognizable. You'll marvel at the intricacy of the library, deck and staterooms all in huge disarray with beautiful tropical fish floating by to distract you.

One reviewer complained that if you use the hints option and click too often on the wrong thing, you are penalized by losing valuable time and all the operations are timed. But that's part of the fun! You have to look sharp and work quickly or you run out of time and are obliged to repeat that particular dive. Each repeat brings up a different stable of objects to find and there are literally hundreds.

The mini-games aren't all that easy, either. You have to piece together old photographs with big tears and water stains and again you have to be quick! The final mini-game requires you to find the long combination of a safe containing a king's crown.. this took me three tries but I finally did it and I was pleased with myself!

If you like hidden object puzzles and enjoy a bit of history (lots of facts about the Titanic are dished out to you as you go along) and love beautiful graphics, this is the game for you. It's perfect for older kids, too, and believe me, you're all going to learn something one way or another! I hope you enjoy it as much as I did!

fun, but short and repetitive

Hidden object games are entertaining and this one is no exception but it was too short and used many of the same backgrounds. I had more fun with the Atlantis edition that I think this company makes.

Looks good, but has a few drawbacks.

I play a lot of hidden object games. I had exhausted all the MCF games and thought I'd give this a try as it was highly rated. It looks really good and it was over-all ok to pass some time. It does have a little humor and some nice facts about the Titanic. My issues with it are these:

1) You are penalized for wrong clicks and for hints. Clicks chew up a little time and hints chew up A LOT of time. I prefer games that just give you a certain number of hints, instead of penalizing you for hints.

2) It sometimes has more than one object in the picture that might fit the search term, but only one is correct. I had this problem most with clocks. Combine this with the fact that wrong clicks are penalized and you get a recipe for frustration. This problem only occurred a few times though.

3) The background music can get annoying. The music loops are short and the theme is kind of intense in some places. Also, if you turn down the music, it doesn't stay that way next time you load the game.

4) Finally the game is kind of short. It is not the same value as games like Mystery Case Files: Madame Fate.

5) You have to wait for each item to float away and for its name to disappear from the item list before you can click the next item. This animation takes too long.

Overall, it's certainly not the worst hidden object game I've tried, but I won't be buying "Hidden Expedition: Everest."

Addictive but not as recyclable as expected

At first blush, I wondered how much fun the game could be...find a list of items. Big deal. Wow! I really underestimated this game! And addictive?! Oh, yea! My only critism is that I made it through the whole game in just 2 sittings. Yes, each time you play the game it changes what items need to be found within each puzzle. However, after playing a few puzzles, you learn what each item looks like so you begin to understand where it can hide and where it couldn't. It loses it's challenge at that point. I think the game either needs more puzzles or a larger variety of items to look for.

Fun, but ... anticlimactic?

As an adult who has purchased this game, I'm thinking one shouldn't have high expectations for things that give them hours of mindless fun. That's why I'm giving it 4 stars, instead of 3 or less. If you're looking for something that will hold your attention while you kill some time, or give your mind a bit of a rest, then this game is perfect. In fact, it can be rather addictive in that respect. I'm not one for complicated games, so personally, I love it.

I don't think a synopsis of the game is necessary (it's a game of "find the hidden object" - not too many ways to elaborate on that), so I'll just say that the graphics are nice, and I like how the lists of items to be found change each time. Some objects are easy to find, others take a minute to locate. I'd prefer it if the extra "challenges" (they're really not all that challenging, especially after you've completed the game once) in between the levels changed as well, but sadly, they don't.

My biggest peeve with the game, if I can really even call it a peeve, is how it ends. While cracking that particular challenge is fun (again, in the mindless way), not only is it vague about how you actually accomplish it, it's rather anticlimactic. I won't ruin it with details, but suffice it to say that if you're playing the game for the most appropriate reasons (see above), the fact that the ending is kind of ho-hum shouldn't be a problem.

I'd definitely recommend it for anyone who'd like something that will keep them amused as they kill some time, but if you're looking for something more exciting - or something that requires more a complex thought process - this isn't it.

That said, my nephews (who are 4 and 9) love it! So, if you're looking for something that just about anyone in the family will enjoy, regardless of age, then my recommendation increases tenfold. I'm not an expert in childhood development, but I'm sure it doesn't do any harm to kids when developing their hunting skills on an intellectual/visual level, and it would probably do their attention spans a bit of good, too.

Enjoyed It!

I bought this as a Christmas gift for my father, who played it online and liked it. I was happy I was able to buy a CD to give him instead of buying the game as a download so he had a gift to open. If you enjoy the I Spy CDs you'll enjoy this game too. The only thing is you have to find everything before you run out of time or oxygen. We've been enjoying it.
