I found it somewhat difficult to learn the directions quickly, myself being tech-challenged, but my 8 yr. old son figured it out in short order and really enjoys it. My 5 yr. old is too young but loves to watch his brother and will probably catch on as time goes on. The game has alot to it unlike some of the simpler games, so I think it will captivate them for a good while.

Addictive!!!

I can't stop playing this game! I bought it for my 12 year old and we fight over it! It is challenging and fun to create different kinds of zoos and learning what kind of foilage, etc. the animals need. It is also challening to keep all your customers happy while they are going through your zoo. This game is extremely addicting!!!

Good, but could've been better

A casual RPG gamer will love this game, but there aren't enough features for a hardcore RPG gamer.

A couple of annoyances about the game: You build an exhibit with lions. If one patch of the grass is missing, they are automatically unhappy with the exhibit. Sometimes it takes a long time to figure out what they want.

Another flaw is the fact that sometimes objects overlap and you can't see what's going on, unless you turn the map around.

Overall though, this is a good game and should be a hit with the kids.

THIS IS ADDICTING......FOR KIDS ALSO!!!!

This game has lost us many ours of sleep...I love the graphics, and how real everything sounds. My kids are just as addicted to is as I am.....plus it is a great learning tool. They know what all the animals need to make them happy, and they have learned so many things about different animals..things they never even would have known before...and that includes myself. I HIGHLY recommend this game for everyone!!

Love This Game!

My 11 year old can not get enough of this game. It is not only fun, because it is all about animals, but it helps you learn about the business side of the Zoo. With the added Marine Mania and Dinosaur Digs, you can play this game forever.
You have to decide which animals will attract customers and them make an exhibit that will keep the animals happy. You also have to hire and sometimes fire caretakers, vets, and maintenance people to help keep your zoo running smoothly.
I recommend this game.

I don't know any children that don't like this game. I must let you know that they've all been girls though. I would think boys at the same age or youger would like it also as a lot of animal/zoo keepers are male, like Steve Irwin. I even played it and let all the Tigers free. They bit off the heads of some zoo visitors. Oops. my bad. It's not too graphic though, so young kids can play it. Highly recommend complete collection because the kids will hound you for all the separate parts that can go to this game, so it's cheaper to just buy this one now.

Infinite Zoo Fun

We purchased the complete set with Dino Digs, Marine Mania, and Zoo Tycoon. The game plays without a glitch, no system crashes in months of play. My kids, 8 and 6, absolutely love this game. We are not big fans of computer games and are careful in selecting games that allow the kids to THINK while they play, not just react to the screen. This game sparks the imagination in new ways. Good for spatial reasoning, logic, creativity, the concept of research, cause and effect. You start with an environment (i.e. desert, ice, grass, city...) then create a zoo. You build animal enclosures - selecting the type of fence, the terrain, the grasses, trees, rocks, animals. Within the game you can research what habitat each animal likes. You hire employees to care for the animals and the zoo, add refreshment stands, make gardens and play areas, build paths around the zoo, add benches. Once you have some animals, guests start to visit. You can easily monitor guest and animal happiness visually, and a friendly zookeeper provides written advice regarding how to make each animal habitat more appropriate for the animals. My 8 yr old can understand all aspects of the zoo. My early 6 yr old can accomplish almost everything but needs help in reading the zookeeper advice. The game is highly intuitive. The interactive tutorials were sufficient for the 8 yr old to start playing. At a macro level, you can determine where you are on a reference map, change the angle of view, and zoom in or out. There are so many options within the game to keep it fun and interesting for a long time. Be aware that you may need to limit play time because you can play for hours. My husband and I love it too. This is a great investment, a good solid game for kids 6+. Older 5 yr olds may enjoy it with some help.

This is a great "game"-my 8 year old loves animals and this game is furthering her knowledge on animals and helping her broaden her horizons in habitate construction, caring for the sick, hiring, firing, taking care of her guest-and managing money--i couldn't ask for better quality time spent "playing" on the computer!!
