For any puzzle or RPG lover this game is addictive. I started just playing for free online and ended up buying the box set and subscribing online. My husband, and teenage daughter and niece love the game as well. Well worth the time and money!

No im not someone who complains using opinion's, i complain using facts. I have had alot of online experince with this game so incase you think i make it all up, check /who rosskennedy.

First of all, the story line is so/so.
The online mode is great, for the first few months, when you become more involved in E.G crews, Flag's, Kings, captains, you start to come over a whole lot of stress. This game is full of backstabbers which is why i was in a whole lot of heat. Look onto it... You raise money to buy ships and shops and swords and all, All these things just help raise more money, you buy houses to sort out your money, and the only thing you get out of that money is a few portraits you spend a life time saving up for...

Three Rings Designs is a dodgy complany who say if you say bad words USING filter Chat, it is ok, BUT i still got banned for it, After i was unbanned, i came back on to find my ultimate paragon Sea Battle was changed into... ABLE NOVICE BATTLE NAVIGATION. After i saw this big upset, just left.

IF YOU WANT TO BE HARTBROKEN/PUT UNDER STRESS/ANNOYED FROM THREE RINGS DESINGS/BETRAYED BY FRIENDS WHO STEAL ALL YOUR MONEY, SIMPLY DO NOT GET THIS !

For all people who disagree, keep playing it and you'll find out =D, Thanks for reading.

Yarrrrr is a victory cry in the land of puzzle pirates. I would say they have scored a victory with this game. It can be played online as well as off line. Online play is monitored very closely to keep the site family friendly and appropriate for children over 13. I give this game 5 stars.

OMG this game is awesome!!! well, i only play the internet version but whatever! i heard that you have a little more privleges with the box edition.

1. you can get an elusive hat or sword
2.you can play alone if you want

oh, btw here are some minuses with YPP.

1. it can suck 50 bucks out of you if your not carful!( you can buy dubloons. i bought mine with real money and sold them before i realized thats its kinda easy just plain saving with poe. :) guilty...)
2.it seems that more adults play then just tweens, teens, and preteens
3. ugh! so many 10 year olds play! i mean cant they leave the site alone?!? i mean its rated T!!! T!!!!

welll, other than that puzzle pirates is AWESOME! thanks for taking the time to read my review.

Puzzle your way across the sea!

5 Rating: 5, Useful: 1 / 1

Puzzle your way through pillages, brigand king attacks, and even trips to Atlantis where you fight your way to the citadel through a band of attacking sea monsters! Become part of a crew, grow your "hearties" list, Blockade other islands, join a Flotilla attack, or hang out at the inn and win some Poe (Pieces of Eight). Decorate your home or yourself with furniture and clothing, and upgrade your weapons! Own your own ship, and collect trinkets from all of the plundering you'll do! This is just a small part of what Puzzle Pirates has to offer.

From my experience, more adults play this game than kids or teens. This game is rated T for implied use of alcohol on ship voyages, and in one of the carousing games.

- On-ship Duty like Carpentry, Bilging, Sailing, and Navigating directly affect the success of your voyage.

- Carousing puzzles like Drinking and Treasure Drop earn you Poe and bragging rights. You can also find traditional Poker, Hearts and Spades at any inn.

- Crafting puzzles like Alchemistry, Distilling, Shipwrightery and Iron Mongering put in labor for items that have been ordered at the shops such as ships, cannon balls, or whisking potions and can also earn you fine wages.

- Swordfight or Rumble to defend your ship and your honor.

All puzzles have a stat system where you can climb the ranks and show off your talents.

Each Ocean has its own economy and politics are alive and well between crews and their flags. An extensive Wiki article is available at http://yppedia.puzzlepirates.com/.

This "box version" of the game comes with a 1 month free subscription, as well as the ability to redeem a code for an exclusive item.

You can also download and play this game for free at www.puzzlepirates.com, but you will be greatly limited on the items you can use and puzzles you can play.

Fun in its simplicity.

Okay, this game is rather amusing. There's lot to do in arcade style leveling which affects different parts of your pirate life, from swordfighting and drinking games, to shipbuilding. Crews go out on ships for more puzzling fun to collect one of the main sources of income for the game by battling other ships. There's crafting, and different ways to customize your character, and most everyone seems to get into the fun by roleplying pirate style. When I first popped on I couldn't stop laughing at all the people going "Arggg, billions of blue blistering barnacles, yar!!, etc." So it really can be all good fun and the ease of the game is charming.

On the down side, there are quite a few nagging elements. Puzzles can get Veerrrry tedious after a while, especially when you're on a ship puzzling for a captain who like to do long pillaging jaunts. You can leave at any time as long as theres no battle in progress and still get your due, but I do enjoy staying to the end. Thus, it's like how much more tetris style games can you take? I also realize that with a game called Puzzle Pirates that it probably attracts lots of the younger crowds, although theres still quite a bit of swearing to be found (Dont worry. There is a filter. And a cute option I might add to change swear words to humerous pirate phrases). Never in any other RPG have I ever seen so many adolescent players doing the regular idiotic things, begging for money, being little nimphos, going against game etiquette. So you end up with a lot of fun people to hang out with and unfortunately, an equally large amount of people who do only what the youngest of people playing mmorpg's do best.

Note, And the reason I didnt dock it too many stars: I'm currently playing the downloadable version that allows people a trial period for a few days and then a paid subcription. With the boxed version maybe this will improve, or maybe not.

Quickly and Deeply Addictive!

This game is highly addictive. In the category of MMORPG (Massive Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game), this game tops my list. You create a pirate, and then cruise the ocean (you can choose your ocean, although I prefer Midnight) with other pirates, pillaging, buying ships, running shops, making friends - you can play alone when you feel the need, or you can join a crew and sail the seas! I love this game... I'm so addicted.

Dated but Valuable

I was already playing Puzzle Pirates when I purchased this boxed set; I bought it primarily because I wanted the "Backsword", an object for use in the on line game that has the advantage of never wearing out. I got what I paid for, and a bit more.

The CD contains an out of date Puzzle Pirates client that is still useful in that it provides off line access to four of the games puzzles for those inevitable times when the internet is not available. The CD key also gives you a month of time on the on line game (currently worth more than the price of this box) and your choice of either of two imperishable game objects: the aforementioned Backsword (not a great sword, but tolerable), or the Savvy Hat.

IF you play Puzzle Pirates, this package is extremely worthwhile at the current price.
