Better than the other Fun Packs, but...

This is yet another overpriced "Fun" pack. I liked it better than the previous fun packs, but that's not necessarily saying much. If you already have Sims 2 Pets, this will feel like a letdown. I only bought it because I'm one of these Sims 2 fans who has to have everything. I did not get last year's Holiday Edition because I already had the base game and I couldn't get the separate download to work, so I don't really know if this "Fun" pack is the same, similar or otherwise to that edition. From the description of the Holiday Edition, it doesn't look like a huge difference, though. Now for some detail:

PROS:
* Nice Holiday decorations! Christmas is definitely the better represented holiday, but others, including the Oriental New Year are represented as well. Christmas trees, christmas lights, etc.
* Some of the new clothing is nice. I particularly like the Japanese Kimonos. The santa and elf suits look cool too.
* Some nice, new floor tiles and wall coverings that I'm actually using.
* Firecrackers!

CONS:
* As with the other "Fun" packs, this is way overpriced. Waiting for it to hit the bargain bin might be the better way to go.
* The non-Christmas holidays aren't nearly as well represented as Christmas. Some Halloween costumes would have been nice for one thing. I can also think of alot more that could have been done with Thanksgiving as well as the other holidays.
* No bug fixes.
* As mentioned above, it doesn't appear to be much different than last year's Holiday Edition (emphasis on the word appear since I don't own the Holiday Edition). If they are indeed identical then the price really is a rip off!

In summary, this pack gives us a few fun new things, but not worth the price. The price was the main thing that cost it two stars. If I had owned last year's Holiday Edition and then found this to be basically the same, as it might be, then I'd have given it 1 star! If you're a Sims 2 fan who has to have everything, then you might consider this pack. Otherwise, wait for the bargain bin! This is worth $5.00 at most!

Only worth it if on sale

Like others said, this stuff pack is the Holiday pack from last year plus 20 more items. There are some lovely items but EA still doesn't seem to realize that they are shooting themselves in the foot by offering the stuff packs at $19.99. Lowering the price here to $14.99 is a bit better but not by much.

The only reason why I bought this stuff pack was because Circuit City had it on sale for $9.99 between November 19-22. If I'd been paying attention over the summer I would have bought Family Fun & Glamour at Circuit City at those prices but I missed the sales. $10-12 I think is a fair price for the amount of stuff in the pack. If EA set the price to that I believe the stuff packs would literally fly off the shelves. Every time one of these new packs come out I will be keeping my eyes on the Circuit City sales flier in the paper and buy from them.

I think it's worth the money spent

I had the Holiday edition base game originally and bought this for the extra stuff. I think it was worth it for not only the extra items, but also for the improvements Maxis made to some of the existing ones in the Holiday base game.

I also think that there is more than 20 extra items over the 40 the holiday base game had. I haven't actually counted them all, but with all of the new clothing, new decorating items (plants, wall hangings, knick-knacks, etc), and outdoor stuff both in buy and build mode, I'm pretty sure it exceeds 60. Maybe I'm wrong but it seems like a lot of new stuff!! All in all, I'm well pleased with what I got for the amount I spent. I didn't pre-order this one though, I waited until the price dropped a few dollars since it is a 'stuff pack' and not an expansion.

And for those of you who didn't have the Holiday edition base game and aren't already aware of this, don't forget to put out your new cornucopia in your kitchen, light your tree, make a holiday roast, and serve up some Santa cookies...you never know, Santa might just show up and leave your Sim some gifts :)

It was ....ok.

I purchased this game on Christmas Eve for $20 at the EA Online game store. (i digitally downloaded it) I do not have the Holiday base game, just the regular Sims 2.

I was really confused, things on the cover of this game such as the stockings + reindeer, I can't find them! Their are also very many items in witch I have not seen during my gameplay. Just a note to yall: this is NOT an expansion pack, it is merely a 'stuff' pack. don't expect this to renew your gameplay for another year or so.

PROS:
*some cute clothes (i havnt found the elf costume yet, but the santa clause one was cute)
*snowmen were a nice touch
*cute christmas trees
*items are practical, dosn't mess up original decor.
*cute windows w/ snow on them
*party favors: firecrackers, sparklers!
CONS:
*no snow! snow isn't a choice for terrain! whats a snowman without snow?!?
*lights: you can't hang lights inside or outside if its on the same piece of wall that a window is at.

thanks~

Its fun but lacking in a few things.

First off let me say its alot of fun. Its very pretty to have all these Christmas Decorations,Whats not so cool bout it, Like one reviewer said there was no snow terrain that came with it. Thats not biggie. However Why I gave it 4 stars all though I am going to get seasons .I would of If I was Ea/Maxis of put this IN with that pack as well. For us who are loyal sims players who also got last years pack. However, for what its worth this is a good price on here none the less. if they could get it and packs like this around 14 that be a better price . Btw you can put the lights on the same area as a window just turn the move objects thing on. I really like this pack regardless. They just should of made it a bit cheaper for us who already got the pack last year seeing it had that and a few more objects in it. I got this for my xmas present from my mom so I wasn't to concerned with the price but If I had bought it myself I would of had a bit of a complaint, still my mom is on limited income and it was kinda pricy for her to get it for what you get with it. Again I love this and when seasons comes out its gonna be the perfect compliment to that. My fave object was that giant tree for the front yard. Hey maxis/Ea if your reading this in the future could ya give us some of those hehe goofy looking balloon things you see out on people's front lawns in real life ya now what I mean those GIANT monsterous would cause nightmares to small kids airblown snowmen , reindeer, grinches etc. :). I'd definitly myself give this as a gift to my younger cousins who would like a game like this.

Sims 2 Happy Holiday Stuff

If you purchased the Sims 2 Holiday Party Pack last Christmas in 2005 (or the Sims 2 Holiday Edition in 2005 which is the same thing except it also contains the base game), then you likely already have the content in this CD. The Sims 2 Happy Holiday Stuff (2006), seems to be a collection of the same items from the 2005 release. Check into it yourself first just to make sure you're not buying the same things twice.

EA gets money hungry

This pack is only worth it if you did not purchase the holiday items from 2005. This pack hardly has any new content at all and is not worth it. EA failed to produce a cd version with only the new content so I was forced to buy this and I regret even doing that. Definately not worth it for me, and a waste of my money.

More cool stuff

Great for the holidays. Would have liked more cool stuff. I have been a Sims fan since the first one. I have all the PC games, but have noticed that there are not as many additions with the last few extensions. This one was OK. I hope the next one will have a little more for your $$$$ IMHO

It disappointed to me after installing it

I did not like that only she brought objects to celebrate the celebrations. I disappointed much when finishing installing and that demanded the expansion of The 2 Sims Pets. On the other hand, as the CD cannot be registered, within my page Web in EA Games The Sims 2, it does not appear that I have this new CD
