What a let down...

I'm sorry, but those that gave Genji anything above 2 stars are either the game's developer, or haven't played many games. The story and graphics are the only salvagable piece of this disaster scene, and you don't get to enjoy either very much. Imagine with a stuck, fixed-camera and only having 3 moves per character, and you get this poorly designed arcade style game. It isn't exactly a side-scroller, but it might as well be with the confined spaces and blind spots.

There is a reason this game is ALWAYS on sale from Amazon for $20, and you will be sad you even paid that much.

suprised! in a good way.

having heard the negative feedback from it's show at e3 (large crab) I was very cautious to try this game, but I am glad I did. I would say this game is a mix of ninja gaiden and a simple action rpg, but it makes for some very fun gameplay. It was pure enjoyment for me the whole way through. Though The game seems rather easy at times, it can be pretty challenging at others. If I knew I would like this game so much I would have bought it sooner. Mostly, I was very suprised at how good this game was.

It's exciting game!!!

Its a really nice battle layout and system. Although fairly easy, it can get just a little challenging but not much. A very good first time game for a beginner to the PS3.

Great game but not complete

If you have played Genji-1 on PS2, then you will be a bit disappointed in the way G2's gameplay was detailed. G1 had a unique reference to counterattacking and timing as G2 did not. If youre interested in playing the history, try it. If youre interested in samurais, try it. Its a great game with great concepts but left out a lot of specs from the first game

How could they have gone so wrong

Well the fact is this is a game you shouldn't buy... unless you see it in a $5 bargain Bin, and only if your curious, but I'm tellin ya it's a waste of time. It looks good. Actually it looks great. I just can't for the life of me figure out how they could have screwed the camera up so bad. The fact is you have no control of the camera it zooms in and out on it's own, and moves to akward angles. This can be really frustrating ecpesially when your getting shot at by archers and the camera zooms in so you can't dodge. I got to the second level and never touched the game again. In fact I traded it for Resistance. It could easly have been a good launch title if they didn't ignore years of what other 3d action games could have taught them.

Nuthin But Graphics

When I saw this game I thought it was going to be good, but I was wrong. There are so many things arong with this game ist not even funny. For everything it does right, it doubles what it does wrong. When I bought my PS3 this game came with it so it couldn't be helped.

PROS.
-The graphics this game shows the power of the playstation 3, the graphics are amazing from the lushes grass outdoors, from the sprinkaly sparkaly waters, to the detailed buildings.
-Loading for the games isn't bad
-Satisfying combo's and playing with 4 different characters.

CONS.
-The story makes almost no sense, I actually wished sometimes I could have skipped the cutscenes.
-The acents these characters have are horrible, they speak to damn fast just to sound authentic to the original japanese, they just try to keep up with the characters mouth.
-Controls aren't that bad but the fact that there is no way to control the camera it frustrates the hell out of you when you have to attack enemies you can't even see. ITS HORRIBLE especially against bosses
-Repetativeness should be the name if this game, this is a HACK-N-SLACH like dynasty warriors, with occasional easy simple puzzles whcih makes 'God of Wars Puzzles seem like a masterpeice, The levels may change but it barely matters especially when all you do is slash enemies, jump around sometimes, run and run on walls. Its trying to be like Shinobi but fails horribly.
-Plus right after you beat the game, there is no reason to play through it again cuz theres nothing after that, no new weapons, no new costumes, no alternate endings, nothing to unlock or do, its the same game no matter how you play it.

Genji Rocks

Great game; awesome graphics.

If you are having trouble with bad guys sneaking up behind you, try holding down 'focus' [R2] which automatically faces you to the nearest enemy, or better still block&focus [R1]&[R2] which will face you towards the nearest enemy and take a defensive stance until you choose to attack.
Of course, there is also the map in the top right of the screen showing all the enemies around you so you can strategically isolate and defeat large numbers of enemies without them getting you from behind.

As far as the big crabs go, try powering up Benkei's strong attack (triangle) using Benkei's club (his default weapon); you will spin numerous times and can do serious damage to the giant crabs and just about anything else with 'strong defenses' (read, big armored guys). Even better, use your Kamui, which is great against any 'boss' including giant crabs. (For larger crowds and 90% of gameplay you probably want Yusitsune with his default swords as he is the fastest and most agile against numerous enemies.)

Good luck to those who choose to play the game past the hard parts and learn to use the power ups, they are pivotal to making it to the end. I found the game to be a blast. Two people in my household have independently played the entire game from beginning to end so I can honesly say I am not the only one who thinks Genji in high def is quite cool.

If you like fighting games like Onimushu, God of War, this game is for you. After finishing the game, you can do it again with new costumes and more difficulty. This game will keep you busy for days.
