buggy & stinks

I can not count how many times this game has called the wrong winner of a hand. It usually happens when you have 3 different pairs in your hand, it will tend to call you as having the lower 2 pairs instead of the higher two.

It is bug laden. I hope they come out with a bug fix because it is unplayable as released. it seems as if they were trying to beat a competing product to market and so released it before it worked right.

It is also really bad about getting the blinds and antes wrong in games other than hold'em.

the play is good, but the technical accuracy stinks...

I just got this game today(Oct. 19) and I have yet to be able to get it to run. I have a new Dell 8400 so memory, hard drive and anything else this game needs to run is up to date. I have un-installed and re-installed 5 time in the past three hours and have yet to be able to play a hand. I wish I had saved my $20.

'Best' part of the PC game.. you always go broke no matter how well you play!

The review by D. Ockenfels mentioned a lot of the bad things I'd noiced in the PC version.. and explained one or two things that had seemed fishy but I hadn't realized why it occurred. But the one thing he or she neglected to mention was that even when you finish "in the money" you never are awarded any money.

First time trying this game I was leading up to the final table at the openning tourny with over 8k in chips with tournament's second place having only a little over 4k. Presto chango the bright lights are set up around the feature table.. and instantly Chris Ferguson's avatar had 280k and another had 13k. I hadn't yet read that other review so I figurred something really crazy must have happened at the other table. So I play on.. and end up in 2nd (that huge chip lead was insurpassable). I don't really pay attention to my money because second place would've still been more than enough to bankroll me for a while. Five tournaments later even though I again placed'in the money' once (albeight not landing final table) and I was too poor to enter any other tournaments. I didn't realise it yet but the initial 10k is all the money you ever achieve in this 'wonderful game'.

So.. I restart and encounter all the bugs and hassles mentioned by other reviewers.. and every so often placein the money again but no matter what I do I can never seem to enter more than the same number of tournaments as the times when I don't place good at all.

Suspicious now I abuse the player profile creation to recreate over and over again without editting the details from default and just all-in over and over until I can receive a 'money' showing. Sure enough.. no new money from the tourny and missing the entry fee money. "Ok," I thought to myself, "maybe it's just that one tournament that is bugged." So I tested other tournaments. Every single tournament reacted the same way to me. No Limit Holdem, Limit, Pot Limit, Omaha Hi/Lo, Stud.. didn't matter the game or what position I ended in.. I always would wind up losing the entry fee and never gaining anything no matter how good I did.

Never ever waste money on this one folks. It's a real waste of money. :(

I just bought this game after having played it for a few hours at a friends house. I have been playing it for awhile now, have had no problems with it; it has been a blast! The only suggestion that I would say for next time is to add online play or multiplayer mode. Finally, I've seen people complain about installation problems... I had no problems installing it whatsoever and it runs very smoothly. Enjoy!

First of all, I think this game sucks. It sucks for pretty much all of the complaints already listed. Plus, has anyone else noticed that when someone goes all in and there is a side pot, if they win they win the side pot and the main pot? Am I the only one who has noticed that? It would also be nice if I knew where the bubble was. I mean, why would you risk going all in and finish out of the money if you could just hold out and let someone else burst the bubble? Some other people can get the AI to fold, but I can't seem to. It just isn't realistic for me to put someone all in only to see them call with 8-3. I also didn't like the full screen thing. I play on my laptop and sometimes I like to do multiple things at once. I couldn't minimize the game at all.

Have I gotten my money's worth? Yes, without a doubt. Because I have wasted several hours playing that game. Are there a lot of glitches? Yes. I had to reload it and it worked much better. Would I buy it again. Yes, if they revamped it by listening to some real player feedback and put those suggestions into the next version. It is a good game because it allows you to practice some games you might not be able to play otherwise like Razz. If they added HORSE or HOSE it would have just about every game offered at the real WSOP. I love pot-limit games and they have hold 'em and Omaha pot-limit games. I bought a different poker game that also cost $20. Was it worth it? Yes. It had better graphics, the players were all recognized pros, the betting calculator was ALWAYS right, and it was a good learning tool because the AI played they way you would expect people to play when you are trying to raise your game. The only problem was it offered limit hold 'em and NLHE.

So, WSOP by Activision sucks because it has flaws and it's not all that realistic (even live donkeys don't play that badly). But, it's pretty much worth the $20 because you can spend several hours playing it and you won't have to play the same game twice.

Even after reading all the horrible reviews here about this game, I purchased it anyway. I picked it up at a local "MegaMART". What a pile o crap this thing really is! It crashes EVERY single time after only about 5 minutes of play. SOMETHING is wrong with this game! Its not my brand new computer either, plenty of power, memory and all the latest updates. Went to the Avtivision website, and they dont even have it listed for any tech support or FAQ. Emailed them about the problem, and surprise, no answer. Cant return it to the MegaMART, as their policy is exchange for the same title ONLY! Is it time for a class action people? Or do I just kiss off the $20 spent and NEVER buy any Activision product again? DONT BUY IT!

This game gives you a perspective of sitting at a live table. You can play a season of tournaments or set up a table of 9 to play a private custom tournament. Many styles of poker to learn, which helps you become a better wager. Have fun and learn more about your style of play !!!!!

Pro's, the grafix are good, the tutorials are helpfull, and the game is easy to use and figure out.
Con's, there is no way to play online or with other computer users, unlike the playstation version of this game you cant customize your player, there are two "sports commentaters" that comment on every play but they have limited comments that get real old real fast(you can turn them off).
It's a fun game to play and it's one of my favorits. I only payed $10 for the game and I got what I paid for.
