Great Game... I Get Lost In Time Playing It

It was a great game. I got lost in time playing it. Whereas, I thought, it was just 15 minutes into the game, it was more like 5 hours that I was playing it. There is no manual to help you, but you can look it up on the CD under Explore. I am 36 yo and I thought that I would be bored playing it. On the contrary, it was very entertaining. It is more of a strategy game and decision type game. What do you want to trade? Where do you want your resources going? What resources should you buy and sell to AI in the game? etc. You are creating YOUR TOWN and have to place different buildings to where your citizens can access them. Overall, it is very addicting.

Yes please, may I have another?

This game rocks. I bought it about a year-and-a-half ago, and have played it religiously ever since. My advice to everyone: save as much money as you can, and try to become as self sufficient as possible. Don't rely on trade from other players once you get deep into the game.

The key to winning comes in three: A large navy, a large money supply, and very happy aristocrats. Do not overspend on the army. My suggestion is large navy, small army for clean up.

I also suggest using the Edit control once you've beaten some of the computer scenarios and have become very aquanted with everything that comes with this game. The edit control is one of the best features of the game where you can build some serious scenarios of your own.

The fastest I've beaten the game is 1-1 1/2 hrs. a night for six nights.

GREAT GAME

I'm giving this game such a good rating because I have played 1503 A.D. This game is sooo much better. My favorite thing in the game was the map and mission creator. Don't buy 1503 A.D but buy 1602 A.D.

Good idea gone bad

At first play a thought this game was for me. But a short time playing I relieved I was wrong.

Being a fan of sim/build/war games and expecting that from 1602AD I was very disappointed. The game does incorporate building and war but room for expansion is limited (all you have to build on is small islands). Game play was difficult due to poor feed back during game play (being attacked and not even made aware).

I purchased this game because people who brought The Sims also brought 1602AD.

If you want a good game of building/war/sim I would recommend any of the Ages of Empires or Civilizations. Both good games.

Please don't waste your time or money on 1602AD.

It is a different colony simulation

I find this game to be interesting. The game can be slow when you have no pirates or wars breaking out. It has good graphics. If you are looking for a long running scenario game without the slash/gore that many pc games have today, this one can be entertaining.

for me 1602 is an awesome game of strategy.
granted it took awile to learn all the tools available
to the player(ie...automatic trade routes, etc.)but once
learned, it is an awesome strategy game that you can enjoy
for quite some time. i have played all scenarios, in about a year. but yet i can still enjoy the game, and all its nuances
as well as alot of other games out there and better than most. it is really a very good buy, just be patient, and have fun.

Very nice!

1602 is a game where you rule your own world in the year 1602. It is definitely an excellent strategy game! Sure, it may take a little getting used to, but once you have, it's excellent.

I like the variety in the game. The islands can have two different climates and may have gold and ore deposits. You may even have gold or ore deposits in volcanoes, but I would suggest steering clear of those; the volcanoes may be active, and if they are, they are deadly! I also like the variety in buildings and in gameplay.

I love the options. Just about everything is entirely up to you. YOU decide what you want to trade. YOU decide whom to trade it to. YOU decide what resources to get. Everything in this game is entirely up to YOU.

The detail taken to this game is extraordinary, and I'm not talking about just the graphics. Sure, the graphics are nice, but they aren't the main deal here. You can see your people wander around and go places. You can see people mug each other and take each other's goods. You can see jugglers in the market places and you can watch the hunters kill the deer and take it. Even though this may sound violent and bloody, it's not.

Custom scenarios are fun to build. You can decide the shape and size of islands (to a point). You can also decide what resources they have, whether they have mountains or rivers on them, whether they have gold or ore deposits (or none), and what the island can grow and how well the crops will grow. You can also choose to have no opponents, which is nice. Overall, custom scenarios give you a lot of options.

A few problems, however, are pirates. They are much too powerful. The game may be hard to understand at first as well. Also, you must be careful with the custom scenarios; you must be sure to have resources on your ship or you won't be able to build!

Awesome game

I think this game is great because it's so much fun! You get to build your own town, protect it, put out fires, have it dig for gold, wage war on neiboring kingdoms (i.e. the computer), settle new islands and start all over again! I definetly recommend you get this game!

Please don't purchase

This game lacks a lot of things, the first and most importantly being a manual that covers what the heck is going on with the game. I play the occasional strategy game, and within 30 minutes was bored with this endeavour, as well as thoroughly confused with the game play.

It looks like a nice idea, but the execution leaves quite a bit to be desired.

1 of the baest pc games!
