Warning - Not suitable for children!

For an adult, Luxor can be an addictive game and a lot of fun. However, it should not be played by children less then 13 or 14 unless they are not easily frustrated. The designers have included two levels, 5-4 and 8-4, which are extreamly difficult in relation to the other levels in the game. For an avid gamer these are very difficult, for children they are next to impossible. It is unclear why the designers included these two poorly designed levels as they are completely out of step with the rest of the game. It's a shame really, beause their inclusion makes what could be a very enjoyable game into one that is often frustrating and simply no fun. If you want to get it, just play the lower levels and keep reseting your game play when you hit these poorly designed levels.

Very disappointed!

I made it to the 9th stage and enjoyed it along the way BUT it is virtually impossible to get past the second segment of the 9th stage. If you enjoy stress and anxiety then you will love this game. Personally, I consider it to be worth maybe half of what I paid for it.

Don't waste your money!

I'd like to give this game five stars. It's fun, fast, and and entertaining and I really enjoy playing it. Unfortunately they designed a couple of the levels too hard. Level 5-4, for example. It's nearly impossible to get through this level. If you do, they have an even harder version of it later in the game. Do a search for Luxor 5-4 or 8-4 and you'll see tons of comments about people stuck on these levels.

I feel like it wasted my money, because I can't play the whole game. And these troublesome levels do not show up in the one hour trial version.

Click. Click. Repeat.

Luxor is a game where it is very much set in a egyptian time period. The game plays very much like Space Invaders or Centipede with the exception of the enemies attacking you. There is NO story what so ever. The controls are rather simple and easy. All you have to do is click the left click button. That's it. The sound is almost annoying. Pretty much you hear the same sound effects for hours and hours. The main difficulty is always different for each level, so, each level has its own personality. You can't really rapidly press the left click button like a machine gun because it wouldn't be playing the game right. The reason why of that is because, the goal of the game is to match colors by launching marbles at the designated marble with the same color. For example, if you have a yellow marble and you see two yellow marbles coming through a slope (like a maze), then you would try to launch that marble at those marbles. If you get three or more of a kind, they would go away very much like Tetris or KLAX except without any shapes. The gameplay can be kind of boring, because you're repeating the techinique of gameplay which is looking at the screen while clicking the left click button. Luxor is very much like an arcade game. There is really cool special effects and quick gameplay. The bad things about Luxor is the lack of replay value. Believe it or not, but there is only ONE game mode. It would've been cool if there are mini-games or co-operative multiplayer gameplay. Luxor is a game that is addicting, but some gamers won't find it appealing. I'm not saying Luxor is a bad game. It is a good game, but it doesn't have the broad pace of appeal that the other games do.

addictive but too hard

This game starts out to be a lot of fun and very addictive, but as you get to the higher levels (7 - 9 plus) it gets WAY too hard and therefore just frustrating and not fun. I wish there was a way to slow down the harder levels so that I can get further along in the game. It seems unfair to make it so hard and not let buyers of the game get through the whole thing.

Addictive but Difficult

I love playing Zuma, so I was sure I would like Luxor too. It is just as addictive as Zuma but a lot harder to get through. Not only are there many more levels but the degree of difficulty naturally increases. There are a few levels where it's almost impossible to accumulate enough lives to get through and this is the biggest fault I find with the game. It's very frustrating to keep getting killed off on, say, level 11-4 and then having to return to 11-1 to start all over again with only two lives. I have heard that people have succeeded in completing the game, so I guess practice makes perfect.

Another problem is that if you move your mouse too close to the perimeter of the screen in order to get the best shot at the balls, the game pauses and you have to press the space bar to start it again (and usually have to click your mouse back inside the screen). This interruption is usually enough to interrupt the flow of the game and it's very easy to lose at that point. I hope it's not a deliberate ploy by the people who designed the game.

I get very frustrated when I play Luxor but it's so addictive that I do it over and over again.

Both my wife & myself like the game but it's almost impossible to get past level 8-4. She get more practice time than I do. It's definitely worth the money for hours of enjoyment.

Great game overall but difficult on certain levels

I've been playing both Luxor and Luxor Amun Rising for some time now and I enjoy both games. I think Luxor is more difficult than Amun Rising though. I really hate level 8-4 (anyone who has played this knows what I'm talking about!). I was only able to complete the entire game by using "cheats". I know that's a little drastic but there are websites where you can download cheats to have unlimited lives, change the coins to lightening or bombs, etc. I tried to play with the unlimited lives, that way I was at least able to play the really hard levels over and over until I finished them. Just search under google or something for "Luxor cheats" or "computer game cheats" and you'll find a way to download them. Also get Luxor Amun Rising because I think it's much better than this first Luxor.

I was a little worried about ordering this game. I had a bad experience purchasing from Amazon before. Even though Amazon made it right, it still made me a little gun shy.

I took a chance and was pleasantly surprised. My game arrived earlier than I expected, it was new (as stated) and still sealed, and it works perfectly. I really did get my money's worth on this one. I would say I would order again from Amazon.
