This game is the greatest.Sure graphics are a bit edgy you could even call them crap but I personally looked beyond all that. You play the son of the greatest ever monster tamer in Monsaibya but he has past away and left the family poor.(limey barsted!)So the son wants to forfill his wish and take over his dads reputation. So when he turns 15(which is an adult)you are finally allowed in the monster tower. This quirky game is quite difficult as there are over 25 levels and heaps of monsters you and your familiars must defeat. But its still the best. When your back in your home town you can flirt with girls and fight with your 'enemy' Ghosh. You can also help out other people in the town by doing them favours. And gain respect by paying to put up various buildings.I LOVE IT AND SO WILL YOU.8.1/2 out of 10.

Azure Dreams is a great game that provides a great many hours of fun. You play the part of a monster trainer that has just reached the age requirement to enter the legendary Monster Tower. Find monster eggs, hatch them, and raise an army of monsters you can use in battle and combine to create even more powerful breeds. Find your way through the mysterious 40 floor Monster Tower; no trip through there is ever quite the same. Explore and improve your hometown with the wealth you get in the tower. There is so much to do in this game that you'll be entertained for a very long time.

An old-school RPG which forces old-school RPG patience.

When Konami first came out with this game, the main selling point was its monster breeding system. While I admit that this and the 'relationships' part of the game interested me, I found that the main course of the game, the dungeon, too tiring for me.
While I won't explain the whole game, the one crucial difference with this RPG and others is the character level resets to 1 every time you enmter the tower... and you must start from the 1st floor EVERY TIME. Now it's fine when you're just starting out, but when you've reached the point in the game where you have to go past the 15th floor to even start building experience for your monsters, it quickly becomes a tiring expereince. There's nothing like taking 4 hours to reach the 18th floor and then dying because you end up in the middle of a monster trap.
In addition to this, one can only take 5 items (including the maximum of 2 monsters) into the dungeon, so you simply can't carry a lot of HP or MP (points which your monsters expend by simply EXISTING) replenishers to help you on your quest. It assumes that you will find what you need along the way. This also tries one's patience, becaouse you can never be sure when you will find an item you need: for instance, there is one type of fruit that allows you to leave the dungeon w/o losing all your items; this would be fine if you had more items to take into the dungeon, or if the dungeon didn't randomly change every time you played, but because of the conditions, if you want to be effective, you have to take the chance that you will find that type of fruit along the way so you can stuff one more MP berry into your pack. Folks, this requires patience. At least FF gives you pages of spots to put your items in.
All in all though, if you're looking for a game that allows you to create some interesting monsters, or have some funny situations with female NPCs, this game is good. However, if you are looking for something to entertain or dazzle you for 60+ hours, I would hold off getting this 'monster game.' Although I don't expect FF7 or 8 RPG's from every company, I do expect RPG's to not bore an average RPG fan. If I want tedious, I can always pull out the old 8-bit systems from the closet.

Azure Dreams is a game of many paths. At the age of 15, your life gets much more interesting. You are now able to enter the tower near your town and fight the evil you find inside. But, now you can also find monsters in this tower and train them for battle to help you. Also, using the wealth you acquire from your adventures you can build onto your hometown and open up minigames and new buildings. One unusual option is the ability to start a "love life" and get a girlfriend from one of the 7 girls in it. You have to work to get them though. : )

You get to develop your character and the monster tower is never the same. The music gets a little annoying after awhile, but the game is hard to master.

When I first picked up this game, I didn't think much of it, because it was extremly frustrating. Once I got to playing it more often the more adicting it became. I like the factors of building up your city, dating people, and the roll play. Your man may start at level one every time, but your familar dosn't. And tell you the truth people, you arn't realy supose to do the fighting, your familar is. It takes alot of time to level up, but that is half the battle, and lots of fun. What is even better is the supense of getting to a new floor, and there being a speical item. It you are looking for something new, different, and a twist from rollplay and simulation - This is it!

I was told to play Azure Dreams by someone. I am glad that I did. It teaches kids the gift of antisipation because you need to wait until in the Monster Hut to hatch eggs or they won't follow you. It also teaches that chances aren't always good to take.

This game was very frusterating to begin with, because the system of building up levels made it feel like you were accomplishing nothing. Not to mention, with all the RPG's out there, that having only the tower and the town to explore, it felt limited. Each trip into the tower becomes exciting, seeing what new items or monsters you might find, and even more anticipation to see what you can influence in the town. There is quite a bit of drama and amusing things going on all around you, constantly changing so it doesn't go stale. Just don't get frustrated it if appears like you aren't getting anywhere! Everyone dies at least 20 times in the Tower, you're not playing it poorly, it's just part of the game. Don't be afraid to bail out using a wind crystal when you get the chance.

This is a great game if your looking for a game that is tough to beat if you beat all your games quite fast. I have been playing this game for about 126 hours 56 minutes 37 seconds of playing time and i havent beat it yet. I have only made it to the thirtieth floor and I die really fast. This game is very intriguing and challenging if you dont use the cheats like infinate life and money. It is fun because you have to build up your city and train you monsters. Sometimes this gets annoying because I have a creature called a Picket and he is really stupid because he always runs off and kills himself. but once you get to the 20th floor, you want to run away or you Kewne or whatever will die. This game is a big struggle at first because you get clobbered on the 3 floor so you should escape from the tower or you will lose all your items that you worked so hard for. I had to restart the game 5 times just to get a good start. Sometimes I died on the second floor when I just started the game so I tried to do the first floor and Kewne died in a couple of hits. so I restarted again and tried the same thing over again, but I died on the second floor again and i did that 5 times then i got the game started so i could slowly advance the floors in the tower. The graphics are bad but when you play the game a lot, you will get used to them. The music I thought was OK but sometimes it got annoying. I like expanding Koh's house so you can put lots of stuff in it like a TV, lights, washing machines, a weird glob and it is fun to find where the safe is hidden, and to put all your stuff in it. I like to take in lots of familiars or else you might lose on the 15 floor. I like it since it takes me 2 hours to do 15 floors. I like the random floor changings because you might have a floor that is one gigantic room or a pee-wee floor with 2 rooms and a small hallway. I like to fuse creatures because you can have a worthless pulunpa that can turn into a good pulunpa that can heal you.

Azure Dreams isn't really like other RPGs. It's actually more of a random dungeon game. Like Chocobo Dungeon and Diablo. These games really seem to fit into there own category these days. Also it has a monster training part to it where you brought you monster in the dungeon to fight for you. Also within the game is a very weird part of plot. You get to sees the faces of the women you have gotten to become your loyal women while you save. If you run the story correctly on all of them in the end your basically the town pimp.
As far as game play goes when entering the dungeon you are always brought down to level 1 and only able to take 5 items inside. This is an annoying thing. Your monsters do not loose levels but as they survive they loose magic and leave way to fast. Also to keep your weapons in poor shape early you well have problems with rust traps, which lower their quality. Also there are items they raise the quality of the weapon and shield (only equipment you wear) threw the game called sands. A good thing to remember is gold swords do not rust, neither do diamond or mirror shields. Without knowing that the game can get pretty boring faster. The game is very repetitive. You end up doing the same thing over and over again while you get to the deeper levels of the dungeon again and again. Even though they change every time it does get old to meet the same monsters hoping for a sand so you can get to the next floor again and again and again. I fell asleep while playing this game at least six times.
As far as plot goes the plot within 27 hours of playing you well forget the game had a plot and you well only be reminded in the very end.
The graphics to this game are sprits. They are not poorly done sprites but I have seen higher quality. There are many different looking monsters and every couple floors the dungeon's floor takes a new appearance. But eventually it does some repeating and none of the pictures are that beautiful.
And finally as far as length of time it can stay interesting it depends on how patient you are. This game involves a lot of patience. Even though I fell asleep while playing it many times I enjoyed it all the way until I beat it, but if you are going to play it its defiantly a buy game and not a rent game.
Overall this game is not for everyone, but if your very patient and you have a lot of free time to see a weird game that combines monster raising, dungeon exploring, and... RPG style control to dating. Get Azure dreams.
