A evil monster and a pair of giant siccors =Total terror fun

First off this really is a true classic to all horror
games. But it's the first game to really un-load on pure fear as clock tower is one of the scariest games ever.It even adds up top be a scary as Silent Hill 2 and Fatal Frame. It's even very clever as in how to escape.But the buthcy controls almost sort of kill u on purpose but after the first scenario it's really gets simple a true great game. A classic story and the killer bad guy.

I love survival horror games, and well,I wouldnt say that Clock tower is like resident evil, or whatever else,because its just original in its own way.This game is something quest-action horror game,close to reality, the character doesnt run around the house with a big bunch of shotguns/rocket launchers, but just acts as any of you would act- hide from the follower, or use what comes to your mind to stop him.The follower in this game is a bad guy?creature(not gonna spoil that for you) with a giant pair of scissors;)A must try for a horror fan.The only bad thing in it Id say- the long conversations between parts of the game, which you cant skip and they really bore me when I play it again and again=)))
There are 2 main characters (sometimes being replaced by another char) multiple endings,all of that depends on your actions and your walkthrough.So it makes more fun (scare:) to play it over and over again.The saving system is also good for that- you can save anytime and anywhere,trying out different things and watching the results.
Despite the graphics (come on ,this game didnt come out yesterday;) Clock tower is pretty challenging and innovative in the horror games department.

Clock Tower is an interesting horror strategy game that requires you to complete many tasks in order to figure out the bad guy who is after you. It's a really good game because you have to really use your head to avoid being caught. While the graphics and music aren't anything incredibly memorable, the gameplay makes up for it. I wouldn't say it's anywhere as good as the Resident Evil series, but what you have here is an above average game that you will be coming back to for sure.

I really loved Clock Tower. I'm sick of people saying it's a crappy game. You know what's crappy. Silent Hill 3, GTA series and all sports games. Now that's what I call a load of garbage.Sorry, didn't mean that. Just got pissed off by some bad reviews I read about Clock Tower in amazon. And man do they have some stupid reasons...

I really thought the graphics were really good. Everything is very detailed, but they could have made the characters look
better. Otherwise from that,it's very good.

The voice acting is pretty good, and so is everything else. You can hear everything nice and clear. Also the attack music is good.
Gameplay 5/5
Very easy. You just click on an object you want your character to interact with. That's it. On Chase mode you just click on something to attack with or hide in.

The story is very well-done, the graphics are good and the gameplay is very easy. It's very scary and full of suspense.
I liked the Resident Evil series, but they were never scary, at all. But Clock Tower is. BUY IT NOW!

Clock Tower Pt.1 was one of the greatest classic horror game that I would put with Resident Evil.Buy it!

more funny than scary

I rented this game instead of buying it, and I'm glad I did. It was probably worth my two bucks just because I laughed so much. The thing that's supposed to make the game scary is this: a killer nicknamed the Scissorman (now *that's* original!) appears every now and then and takes tiny steps toward you while opening and closing a giant pair of scissors to the accompaniment of cheesy scary music. I didn't read the instructions carefully, so I didn't figure out how to run until about an hour into the game. During that time, I ran into the Scissorman several times and had no trouble getting away from him. If you just turn and walk calmly away, you're putting distance between you and him. The graphics were all right, but the point and click interface was clumsy and made gameplay dull. Also, the character's don't actually talk; the words are just printed on the screen. All in all, it's like I said: maybe worth renting it just to laugh at Scissorman. If you're looking for a good game, don't bother.

There are a few "Dead Ends" in this game. (That's funny if you've played it.) What I mean is that you find yourself cornered by the madman Scissorman and killed. However, the point of the game is to evade the killer while picking up clues that will reveal his identity. Is he just a sick human being? Or is Scissorman some supernatural evil?

Sometimes the game will have you begging for a save point where you must successfully run from Scissorman several times before you can escape or find help.

Overall, the game will probably satisfy people who enjoy thrillers and games like Resident Evil or Fatal Frame. It is a race to find the critical clues. However, it is a cursor-moving game. You do not have free three-D movement as I thought you would. Rather, you use a cursor for movement.

It's not that bad a game.

i freaking love this game to death, it is my fave. of all time on the psx, and the best in the series, it includes a total of 10 endings, 5 characters, and of course scissorman, which he is completly random through out the whole game, which is a great thing, the controls are also really easy to get used to, thinks to it being a point-and-click game, which makes it slow paced, but i can stand that, i love these type of games!

Turn back the clock and try Clock Tower!

If you can find a copy of this game going cheap, by all means get it, as it's a great little shocker - but be prepared for some seriously lame graphics. And I do mean primitive. This was one of the earliest PS1 games, and it shows, which is a shame because the actual idea and concept are great. A crazed killer is on the loose with giant scissors and it's up to you to unravel the mystery and find out who he is and what he's up to.
There are plenty of good points to this game. One of them being that is really does present you with a mystery, and if you don't follow the clues provided, your investigation goes straight to a dead end and all your hard work ends up in a Game Over scene complete with credits that tells you that you have failed to solve the case. Quite brutal in a way, and daring, even, to treat the player so harshly. It happened to me, and I had no choice but to begin again and this time try and make some more well informed choices when given the chance. Once you get it right, the game takes you on the full journey to the climax of the story, which is well worth the effort.
So how is this story brought to life?...well, with the dreaded words "point and click". Yes, it's sad but true, the action in "Clock Tower" is completely mouse click operated, which means that you will be moving a cursor arrow around on screen with your D pad and clicking the X button when it's on hotspots to start action and make choices. For the WHOLE game. Be warned that if this sounds like something you have moved on from, you might want to think twice. However, then think a third time, because...hey, whaddya know, it works! The exploration, the combat, in fact all character movements and interactions are done by clicking somewhere on the screen, and once you get the hang of it, you're away.
So let's get onto the gameplay. This is a game of fear and surprises. The villain of the piece, "Scissorman" can leap out at you at random points in the game and pursue you relentlessly until you either hide, run far enough away, or find something to stop him with. (Or get killed). Combat such as you may be used to does not exist in "Clock Tower", but it really doesn't matter. If you make it through to the last level, set in a sprawling castle, you'll have the gameplay mechanics well and truly in hand. It's by no means easy, though, and towards the end you'll still be in danger of blowing it all and getting one of the several endings other than the one "good" one, if you're not super observant and quick witted.
But castles, shock tactics and gruesome deaths alone do not make a game, and as I mentioned, you're going to have to work with truly dated graphics to play this baby. I'm not complaining, after all, we're talking about the earliest days of the Playstation here, but I really must make it clear how primitive it looks - especially now that we have moved up to the sophistication of it's PS2 third incarnation which allows full directional movement and 3 dimensional areas to run about in.
But hey, "Clock Tower" is the father of them all, and it deserves it's dues. Checkout screen shots on the internet first (if you can still find any), so you know what you're in for, and then brace yourself for an exciting dip into retro territory. And yes, it will STILL make you jump!

I first bought this game at the swapmeet about 8 years ago and my ex boyfriend stole it from me. With a passion, I actually thought about murder when I found out he stole it. After having bought it again, I am totally happy that I get to play it again. This game is awesome in an old nineties sort of way. If you like your horror gaming, you'll love this game! Scissor Man Lives!
