If your tired of the plain old, go around the track game, this is the one you've been looking for. You race on dirt asphalt, bridges, etc. It also puts a new spin on "winning". Smack into another car- get points. Land on top of another car form an awsome jump (there are plenty of them)- get points. Start another car on fire- get points. Finish first in the race- lose the race because you didn't do enough crashing into other cars. Great idea. A definite must buy.

This is the coolest game that ever came out on Playstation. You can pick from 8 different cars. You can even drive a deadly hurse! And even a van! You can either crash in a demolition derby bowl matches or you can race in 10 heavy metel contact tracks. The bult in rumble pack is cool, because when you crash in to other cars, walls or any other object that is just sit'in there in the road,it vibrates. There is also a "death from above" way to kill one of your oponents. It is when you drive off a jump and land on one of your oponents. You will get 500 points for that. There is up to two players, anolog compatiable, and memory card is 1 block. This is the coolest game I have ever played!

This game is SO good, for SO many reasons, it's hard to know where to start...Let's start with 1)The Car: pretty much reacts like you'd expect, no surprises. 2)The tracks: While the layout of each track is easy to memorize, there are plenty of things to stop you from lapping the field. Given these two things, you can really get lost in the actual gameplay...It's a race, so winning is good, the higher you finish the more points. Hitting cars gives you points-how you hit them, how hard, what happens after you hit them all play a role. There are "power-ups"like a quest game that include (of course) points as well as repair for your car. Oh yeah, hitting hurts and it's hard to win if you don't finish. Crashing & power-up points X finishing place points = Total. Since place points are small and crash points can be very high, there's a nice balance between wanting to win & wanting to crash...Crash all you want, but if only multiplied by 5 not so good-Or you could win by avoiding all crashes, and multiply 100 by squat...In closing, if have even one precision based, contact-discouraging, stopwatch driven game, you GOTTA get this one to stay sane

My husband and I bought this game because we had rented it and loved it. It's a VERY fun game, but hard to find anywhere as it's for the original playstation. I recommend it to anyone.

Other racing games want you to just try and come in first; Demolition Racer wants you to drive like a nut!
This game is certainly unique. The more cars you run into, the more points you get, which effects your total score. This is very interesting, and makes for some fun gameplay, because even if you don't come in 1st place during the races, you could still win when your damage points are added and factored into the score! Of course this works both ways, so if you come in 1st with few damage points, don't expect to be declared the winner and move on to the next track.
GRAPHICS: Really good! It shows damage as it happens, so you can expect to see your hood pop up, and eventually fly off (if you take a hit there), tires wobble, fenders dent, body frames mangled, even your engine on fire as you drive. The black smoke it produces is a very nice effect.
SOUND: Very detailed. You'll hear wonderful burning rubber effects when turning corners or peeling out, and of course the sound of twisted metal every time you hit someone, or vice versa plus a lot more. If you're a fan of hard music, this game contains tunes by Fear Factory, Cirrus, and Junkie XL! A nice mix of heavy metal and techno rock.
MODES AND EXTRAS: The tracks and cars you unlock when you win the various Demolition Leagues are sweet. As expected, the choice of cars get a lot better, and the tracks get harder as you go along. The tracks have good detail and scenery. Cars can be customized with colors and a nice selection of logos and numbers. You also unlock various game modes as you go along, which should also keep you interested.
GLITCHES: The point system can be wacky at times. Sometimes you risk life and limb (since you car gets damaged too) when smashing into someone, only to see that you get no points for it! Maybe it's the game's way of making you mad and in turn, driving like a total maniac. All in all, Demolition Racer is a blast to play. The Playstation Dual Shock controller enhances the fun.

Demolition Racer is quite similar to the Destruction Derby games previously released for the Playstation. Its different modes of play makes this game stand out from the previous DD games and gives Demolition Racer the ultimate replay value.
Each car handles differently but seems to control near perfectly when using Dual Shock Analog Controller. Your overall objectives in the league modes is to finish first and to score the most points. What can be better than slamming into the car in front of you and taking them out of the race? You will find yourself trying to score more and more points by wiping out the competion. This is a very fun aspect of this game.
There are a nice variety of tracks and cars to chose from and the different modes of play breaks up any repetition. The Arena mode in this game is nearly identical to the Bowl levels in Destruction Derby 1 and 2, however instead of getting to visit the Bowl at the end of each level, the entire levels of play have you moving from one bowl to the next (if you survive.) It is a really great mode of play, trying to survive and destroy the competition in a rounded bowl arena. Its basically kill or be killed.
Overall, Demolition Racer is a blast to play and the replay value will have you coming back for more. Its a fun game, and at 20 bucks, its a steal!

This is a great game! but be careful its addictive. The grafics are cool, but there's still some missed spots in the game when they made it, like somtime's when you hit a car real hard you could drive right through it? but the game is really worth the buy.

After buying and returning the "Dukes of Hazzard", i was a bit skeptical to remove "Driver" from my Playstation console, but DEMOLITION RACER is a very cool game! The steering, handling and visual effects are excellent! Being able to customize the paint on the car in this game is an awesome option too! Each track has its own characteristics, but my favorite is the "Parking Lot". There's nothing like the feel of concrete and rubber especially when you clock the leader of the pack in the side with a high-velocity, crunching hit!

Great game. Two player races are super fun. Sometimes we focus more on crushing each others cars than anyone else. The garage track is the best (to me). This is similar but better than Demolition Derby series. You gotta play two player in the garage to see it top-out on the fun meter.
