Fun for the whole family

I picked up this game a few months back. I figured it was only , so I'd sell it if I didn't like it. To be perfectly honest I was expecting it to be a clearance-rack quality game.

Boy was I in for a shock. Eternal Eyes is a *very* good game. More of a strategy game than a traditional RPG, it has you collecting these items called "magical puppets" that you have to then give jewels to for them to evolve. They then assist you in battle.

The battle system owes a lot to Final Fantasy Tactics. It is turn based, with each creature moving and attacking once per round. There are various types of terrain and obstacles to contend with as well, and that adds an additional element to the strategy.

The save system and non-combat menus take some getting used to if you're used to traditional RPGs. They cannot be accessed at will, which is annoying at first. Once you get used to them, however, they're very easy to use.

The 3D graphics are not the greatest, but are quite good for the PS1. And the opening animation/theme song is worth the purchase price alone!!

Other than that, there's no blood, no real language issues, and the only violence is in the cinema sequences. Saturday morning cartoons are worse. I heartily recommend this game for anyone who likes anime or strategy games, I bought it and couldn't put it down for two weeks.

Cheers...

This game is just adorable! It is similar to Rhapsody. You have cute monsters as your allies and depending on what crystalls you feed them - determines what cute monster it will become. Very interesting story, new enemies - and dungeon designs. It is very simple to play - so this is the game that you play when u want to relax and just have fun. I really really enjoyed it!! ^_~

This game is a very good game and even more so as cheap as it is. The characters are cute, the storyline is good, and there's no gore. You're led through the story which makes it pretty simple. Luke(the main character) and his sister Elena are descendants of the Eternal Eyes. They along with two friends find a box of jewels and learn that Luke can use the jewels to create magical puppets(pappets). The puppet you make depends on what jewels you give it. Later after raising the puppet a few levels, you can evolve it. Each puppet has its own powers & abilities but you can add to these abilities by continuing to use jewels on them. There are two stores you go to to buy things such as riceballs, star fragments, and dad's smack which will help you & your puppets during battles.
Even after you finish the game, there's still more incentive to play again because at the end it tells you congrats, you finished so we added some bonuses for you. Make sure you go back to look for them. You'll be quite surprised!!! Ok well I was. Also, if bad graphics drive you nuts, don't even waste your time. This is cartoonish, it doesn't look real, and a lot of the edges are sharp and block your view of a battle at some points. However this takes nothing away from the game.

Well let me just say that I am in agreement with all the other reviewers who said this game is well worth the [...] they've paid for it. I've only had the game for a brief time now and I can't stop playing it. It's very simple and easy but it keeps your attention if you are not into hardcore RPG's. I can't wait to see what my next evolved puppet with be. Eternal Eyes is a great game for younger kids who are not ready for a more gruesome game. I would recommend any parent geting this game for any child that likes adventure and can keep up with the story. Well worth the money, it's a steal go out and get it.

This game is suprisingly decent and is worth the money let me start with the negatives the graphics are horrible the controls on the battle field are bad and it not very stratigic basicly kill them before they kill you pretty simple. this game shines when you talk about story and plot development its very intresting and will keep you hooked for a couple weeks oh yeah i forgot about the load time t suck very bad it loads on everything the load time sucks on the ps2 set on load fast.to make a long story short if yoou like tactical games or love a great story this game is for you.

This game was okay. It was really short and didn't have enough open space to do whatever you want. The monster evolving got really annoying and they were so weak. The main character was really the only good person to use in battle. It had cool anime pictures and starting video though. If you have an extra 5 bucks lying around, buy this game. If not, don't bother. You should only buy it if you are desperate for a new game because you can't find anything else. Either that or you just plain wan't to spend your money. But if your looking for a deep, fun new RPG, don't get this game. Buy a Final Fantasy or Dragon Warrior game instead; they both are awesome.
