I am sorry, but in a world where this kind of violence is in the everday (I am from L.A.), I find this kind of game repulsive. The social negligence of the makers of this game is outrageous. I am not a conservative or a human rights tree-hugger type of person... just a concerned citizen in my mid 20's... This is NOT entertainment - this is a sickness.

Do you really call this a classic ?-i don`t

This game is good but...no its not great.
Some GTA Fanboys/fan girls call this "a classic" or the "Greatest PS1 game"-My opinion HELL NO!!

It was made for PS1 in 1999-`99 was one PS1`s final years yet they had a 2D game made!?-Its the same as GTA1 !!-GTA1 was acceptable back in 1997-i let that one off.

If this game were to be accepted it should have been made for The Super Nintendo back in 1992 !! at least there it would have been a true classic!-even though it would be killed with Controversy.

Driver 1 and Driver 2 KILL this game there is no need for Krap like this game.There are good GTA games on PS2/XB/PC called GTA III,Vice City and San Andreas along with GTA/Driver Clones..

I gave it a 2* for it radio and funniness..

But i don`t reccomend it if you stiil play PS1 get Driver 2,But most PS1 players are now PS2/XBox or GameCube gamers so get GTAIII,VC,SA or even DRIV3R.

I`m not bashing, it is not even an old game.

I would recommend GTA2 on GameBoy:Color though not PS1.!

Never before in my gaming experience have I been turned off from a game in the first minute of game play.

The biggest pro in this game is the fact that you can fart and burp and that, my friends, is a sad, sad thing indeed.

The programmers could have saved the gaming community the misery and not released this albatross at all. Heck, I probably would have paid them the 5 bucks I bought it for not to put it on the market and it would have been a win-win for everyone.

I love GTA. It's a great game, but why does the '88 NES Super Mario Bros. have superior graphics to a PS1 game from 1999. It defies rational explanation and this game defies all rationality itself.

I am ashamed to call this a GTA game or even a product from Rockstar.

I bought this game and I have to say that this is a game worth NOT buying because I have been a gamer all my life and I have never turned off a video game within a minute of playing time.

1. Controls are horrible.

2. Who cares that the charecter can burp and fart

3.The graphics are ridicuous for a playstion one system. These are the kind of graphics that you would find on the the first video game systems ex: Atari, NES or game boy pocket. If you want a game that you would like buy any of the GTA games on the playstion 2 system. Dont buy this game.

This game was one of the worst games that PlayStation extricated. The game sounds diabolical because you hear that you are a crook doing stuff for the mob. The graphics are worse than horrible, all you get is a birds-eye view and crooked dialogue, such as "Gimme that.........." What's even worse is that there is going to be a GTA3 that will come out eventually. What I really want to tell you is, stay away from this [game]!

I wrote a review of GTA3 (GTA3 = GTA2 + PS2 technical sophistication) where I explain my first reaction to that game.

Afterwards, I realized a fundamental difference between GTA2 and GTA3. GTA3 is realistic, from the 3-D aspects, to the mechanics of the cars, to the changes in the weather, to the spurts of blood from victims you have just trashed. GTA2 is a obviously a computer game through and through, from the graphics, to the overhead aspect to the gameplay.

I believe, then that the major difference between the two is the aspect of serious realism - vs - tongue-in-cheek gameplay. I'm not saying people will play GTA3 and then go off on a rampage. No. But, GTA2 is obviously more cartoonish and light, in a violent sort of spirit.

So, I will keep GTA2 in my game collection, to brighten the mood.

This game looks like it was made in 5 minutes. It has horrible graphics, and barley any improvments from the first Grand Theft Auto. If you like this type of free-for-all shootem up, pick up the amazing GTA 3, (my all-time favorite) for the PS2.

When I first heard of this game, I thought to myself, "Hey, this game [is not any good]. Don't buy it." Good GOD was I ever wrong. This game has provided many coutless hours of entertainment. the graphics are a little shoddy, but who cares? Buy it today.

After playing the first GTA for hours while in college, I was pleased to see an upgraded version finally released. Although I expected graphics similar to Driver (the graphics turned out to be like the first game)it was still very fun. I would not recommend this game for children, but for any adult seeking an outlet for stress this is undoubtedly the perfect choice. One thing about the game that I do not like though is the fact that it takes "forever" to proceed to the next level. All in all though I give this game one and a half thumbs up.
