Great game, difficult at first

Asphalt is a great game with a ton of championships in different types of cars. You can repeat championships and sell the cars you win just like in all the GT games. The controls are horrible, so here is my suggestion - change them to XBOX style, R is gas, L is brake. this is way easier. Then you can customize the other buttons (turbo, horn, chng view, look back) to your liking. After changing this, the game is way easier, at least for me. Just remember that when you are constantly squeezing the R and L triggers, it may ache if you play for more than a few hour. Overall the game is really fun. The variety of cars and the customization is good. Graphics are great. After a long time of playing it is possible to get stuck (like when you reach the series where none of the 3 available cars can be customized) but that's not until after you are no longer 'hooked' on the concept of beating it.

P.S. Remember-this is a Nintendo, if you change the controls, you will have to change the controls every time you turn on the DS to play Asphalt.

Hope this helps those people complaining about controls.

BUY IT!!!

Despite the fact this game was reviewed rather ' bad ' by the pro's im a 14 year old pro at games and i know my games. Most reviews complained the steering was bad. Well, its a racing game.. to me, a REAL racing game. At first, this game was a little shaky and frustrating while trying to drive, but i got into it after 2 races or so.. i think this game is a hot one out for the DS right now, and is better over ridge racer.

I only rented this game; and that was awhile ago; but i played it long enough to recognize this games capabilities

GRAPHICS: 4.5/5
SOUND: 3/5/5
CONTROL: 4.5/5
FUN: 4
OVERALL: 4 or 4.5

Buy it for someone with a knack of playing racing games while they are on the road.. :)

I bought this game when i bought my ds and it suprised me how well Gameloft did. Gameloft is pretty new to the gaming industry. They produced Asphalt Urban Gt and a few other games for cellphones. I had played the game on a freind's phone and I thought it was okay. But then I got it for the DS. Crusing down the streets of NYC in a tricked out hummer was great. I have unlocked 2 of the 2 unlockable rides and i love them. You can get the first by finishing arcade mode and the second by finishing career. It has upgrades like body kits and tune ups but it lacks some Need For Speed Underground grace. There are only 2 body kits per car and some cars you can't put bodykits on. The body kits are one color. You can't change their color. I would like more upgrades. More body kits would make the game better. The Racing is so great. The AI ( artificial inteligence)is ajustable so you can race on Easy Medium or Hard. A must have for any DS owner that likes street racing. It is way better than Ridge Racer DS.

I have played Ridge Racer DS and I got bored of it in 15 min! In Asphalt Urban GT there are 10 awsome lvls, 60 fps, tons of cars, great graphics and an unlockable motorcycle.
You can do races, and do cop chases where you chase down the bad guys. In multiplayer, you can race or do a 2 player cop chase where one person is the bad guy and one is the cop. GET THIS GAME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

an almost perfect racing game for the ds`

If your reading this, you may be wondering if you should buy this game. If not then go do something else buddy.

well the good things about this game i'm gonna list below.

1. There are a good variety of tracks, and they have different difficulty for each one.(just not a listed difficulty)

2. There is a good variety of cars, and if you like to customize, Nintendo did a good job on this. You can change the color of the cars, but if you change the body... you can't change the color again unless you change the body again.

3. If your into games like burnout and need for speed etc. Then this is a good game for you. I wouldn't say that this game is as good as those, but come on, its on the ds, and the DS is a handheld not a stand alone console. They did do a good job with the boosts.

4. Multiplayer. There is a good multiplayer part to this game, its fastpaced and you can have more than one person to go against.

now i'll write the bad things about this game... there aren't that many as you may have guessed by my game rating.

1. the cars... for some reason, the wheels on every car don't spin. They don't spin at all, how do i know this you may ask... that is because you turn on racing games. You end up seeing the side of the cars. The wheels move to show what direction your going in, but they don't spin.

2. Multiplayer. There happens to only be multicard play for this game. Which if you own a ds and have played with others for sure know that. Another bad part about the multiplayer is, that you can only use the cars that you have earned in the arcade mode. Oh by the way to get the cars beat the first thing... i don't remember its name but there are more than one race in each. and a car class.

3. the speed. One problem if you actually look at how fast your going... is that the most expensive car lamborgini marcielgo something isn't even the fastest car. its some car thats like half the price when its fully upgraded...

well i just hope that you thought that this review was a good one.

Asphalt Urban GT......

Asphalt Urban GT takes the best parts of games like Burnout!, Need for Speed:Hot Pursuit 2, Test Drive, and Need for Speed Underground and mixes them together to make a fun and entertaining racing game. Certainly, one of the best in the DS launch lineup. One that I'd highly recommend to any racing fan with the handheld. Yet, even though it's an awesome racing game, it lacks its' own style. Sure, it has dream cars to race with(like the Hummer or the Jaguar)as well as a great sense of speed but it takes more than that to make a memorable racing game with racing fans. I will give Gameloft its' propers, though. It's a great starting game for the series. I'm really impressed with the graphics(it looks way better than Ridge Racer DS, that's for sure. That game looks horrendous(although Ridge Racer DS is still a good game, mind you).

If, and when, they decide to continue the series- they can always finetune it and make it into its' own game. Judging from the potential of this game, I think Gameloft can pull it off. Finer points of the game are tracks inspired by real life locations, options for engine performance-tuning- and bodywork, as well as racing 4 others opponents via the DS' wireless technolgy(which can be pretty intense, let me tell ya').

I hope we do see a second game in the series. I really like Asphal Urban GT. I'm sure you will, too.

This is a great starter game! 12 year old kid from what do you think?

This my first nintendo ds game and it is awesome! I got my DS and this game around April last year. I still play to this day. The driving, cars, and graphics are awesome. The only bad thing is that the cars are not real hard. Instead of racing with the hummer what I did was win the Saleen race "Begining race" and then sell my hummer and do it over and over tell I got enough money for a Skyline GTR. My best cars and favorite cars on the game are Saleen S7 zero to sixty in 1.69 seconds with upgrades, the Skyline GTR looks exactly like the skyline in 2 fast 2 furious, and the Concept car that looks some like a Enzo. The fastest car I have not the quickest, but the fastest is the Astin Martan Vanquish. The top speed with nitros is 275 yeah thats right 275!
Here are the pros and cons
Pros
Great graphics
Awesome cars
great steering "unlike need for speed underground two for this system"
Nice boosts
Nice sound
Cons
Computer cars don't have boosts
Computer cars aren't that good, but still is really fun!
Not enough levels.
Tracks are Ok, but that's not really a con.
Overall I give this a five! Get this game if you love cars (like I do) and you just got your DS. Or get Mario Cart.

Now before you start screaming at me, I like racing games. But this one was terrible. 10 levels and 25 cars, not very good if you ask me. Now I wasn't expecting a excellent game that would knock my socks off, but come on. the controls were clunky and the limited variation in the soundtrack didn't help much. You need about 7 cars to beat the game, and the fact that there's turbo completely messes up the point of racing games that aren't destruction derbies. This was would have been better if once you got a lamborghini you weren't home free with the game. The fact that there are real cars doesn't do a darn thing if you have turbo which can make you go over 200 MPH without hardly trying, even in a hummer. Now I'm not saying "GO BUY RIDGE RACERS!!!" but seriously this game isn't really all it's supposedly worth. Here is a rating on a scale of one to ten

Sound---2/10
The fact that you could use some second hand music program on the computer to make the music is pretty lame, the SFX are basicly what a three year old would do to make a car noise and some cars honking at you that sound like dying water-buffalos.

Graphics---2/10
Seriously, the graphics are what you would expect from a game for the SNES {super nintendo entertainment system} and oncoming traffic looks like a drawing that a toddler could do.

Gameplay---2/10
The camera angles aren't bad but the controls are terrible. you use the B button to accelerate and the A button to brake. not to mention the fact that when you fly off the road into some restaurant or something like that, nothing really happens. you just slow down for something like a tenth of a second. Then you just go on going 200 MPH in a Hummer.

Difficulty---1/10
This game takes five minutes to learn, and 2 hours to beat. Pretty easy.

Multiplayer--1/10
Not very fun for multiplayer. Some games have worse, but this is still "wanting to bash your head in with a marsupial" boring.

Overall---1/10
I think this is the worst arcade racing game I've ever played and I've been playing games for 7 years.

Afterthoughts
For people who like this game think what you want, I can't force you to hate this game, but seriously I think if you want a portable racing game you would be better off forgetting that urge and getting a stationary console racing game- I would suggest Forza Motor Sport for Xbox or Gran Turismo 4 for the PS2.
