Fun for Muppet fans!!

This game is so enjoyable!! There are races, challenge courses, and 'stunts'!! It's extremely challenging if you can't figure out their little "secrets" ;-) I would highly recommend this game if you feel like laughing while exercising your playstation skills. Also, not only do you get to hear Kermit say, "Ha ha!", but you get to hear the Swedish Chef proclaim, "Shmork!!"

Tons of fun even without the Muppet factor

The fact that this is based around the Muppets only adds to the fun. There are so many different tracks (including about 10 bonus/hidden tracks) plus multiple options for every track (boss, battle, racing, and adventure modes). It will take months just to go through everything once. Then you add in all the different Muppet options, the movie clips, the wide variety of vehicles and it just gets better and better. They even included the cheat codes for us impatient folks. The graphics are the only so-so part, but I've been spoiled by PS2 games so that may just be bias. I can hardly wait for MRM2 (hint, hint)

Typical game with partially entertaining options.

Graphics: 5/10 - The colour shading is nice when you're playing outside, but for the rest of the time, this looks pretty effortless and droopy. It's also hard to see where a passage leads.

Sound: 5/10 - The usual cartoon racing score hangs in the background, while the cars don't do anything too dramatic with their engines.

Value: 5/10 - Most racing games are worth the money because they're entertaining, but to make a long story short, this one isn't really worth paying for unless you're a really big fan of the muppets.

Overall: 5/10 - This is the sort of game you play in the game or record store while your waiting for Mum to finish her grocery shopping. In a game where you can hardly see where you're going, is it worth even playing? Yes, but only if Mum takes a couple of hours to find a broccoli stick.

Not what expected

Having grandkids who love the muppets, I thought this would be a great game. I found they had lost interest in it quickly (unusual for a playstation game.) The reason was you had to keep your eyes on the screen constantly. The Christmas part was cute and fun, but the others ( 25 characters to choose from) became boring. They still love the Muppets, but gave the game to a friend. I was glad since it was only frustrating them.

The Best Game I bought for Playstation 1

Most of the reviews are really positive.

Some have said they lost interest in this game. Did you try the adventure game? For those of you not familiar with this game. THere is the standard race, a twisted metal combat game and as I mentioned the adventure game.

Let me tell you about this game. You start out with a limited cast of players and cars. Some said that the cars are too hard to control, but if you play the adventure game you can win additional cars. You can win additional characters too. And you can win additional tracks. If you make it thru the adventure game you will have all characters and all the cars available for each character.

What is the adventure game you ask? Well, you have a time limit to drive your muppet characters car around and explore. You pick up objects in that time limit. You get all the stars you get sometime. You find one of the racers not currently available...you then race them and if you win that character is available. I mean honestly I can not get into detail enough to tell you everything on this game. Really I rarely have enough interest in a game to finish, but this game I kept with it and I did.

I just received a Playstation 2 and hope this game plays on my playstation 2. I doubt my memory card will work but I will have to play this game through so I have a fully stocked game.

Honestly, in my opinion this was the best game I purchased for my Playstation 1 system in all the year. If you can find it get it!

Hard

This game is hard. The people are hard to control and there's so many corners to go through that I just keep bumping into walls. If you're a muppet fan this game is really cool. All the tracks are from the movies Muppet Movie all the way up to Muppets From Space. The graphics, scenery and clips were soo good that I just played the game, came in last every time, just to look at them. Rent before you buy so that you know what you're dealing with.

Hard to use for younger kids; some features didn't work

I bought this thinking it would be a good choice for our young son. In particular, the package lists a special mode that will "steer the car" for a younger driver. After buying the product, it took me about 5 minutes to find this feature in the (confusing) documentation, only to find that it apparently doesn't work.

Not Fun!!

Karts very hard to control, very hard, not many choices. If you're looking for a fun, easy to understang, easy to control, but challenging game, you should check out Crash Team Racing. It's much better than Muppet Racing.

It definitely wasn't like Crash Team Racing

I was hoping to find a game that would be similiar to Crash Team Racing. This was not it. After 5 minutes I turned it off. The karts wobbled so badly that it was nearly impossible to steer. Although I bought this for two grown adults, I am sure that children might find this difficult after playing CTR.

Not a kart racing game, but fun no less

After racing around the course, and completely losing control, I got kind of bored with this game. But then I found the Adventure mode, which is kind of hidden, and I started to really enjoy this game. The movie extras are awesome. But if your looking for a game that is just pure racing, this isn't for you. You have missions on each course, and it takes time to figure them out. Then you get to race. I really enjoyed it.
