I wish I didn't waste $5 renting this game.

I spent some time looking for fun 2 player games, and based on all the great reviews for Street Fighter Alpha 3, I decided to rent it. Man, was I disappointed. I thought this game wasn't just bad, it was terrible. I guess you have to be a fan of the Street Fighter genre to enjoy this... I never played any of the other Street Fighter games so I did not know what to expect. If you like Street Fighter games, then I guess all these other positive reviews are the ones to go by. If not, then I say skip this game. I would suggest renting it before owning it, but even that would be a waste of too much money. The graphics looked like something you would have seen on the old Nintendo system. Not only was there very little detail, but the movement is incredibly choppy. Stick to Twisted Metal 2 and Tekken 3 if you want a fun 2 player fighting game with good graphics and great gameplay.

Good, but not great

This game is the follow up to a great and impressive series (with the exception of Street fight III, that sucked). I have generally loved the new extensions, but this? This is sad. Ken and Ryu feel so weak and all the moves look like ballet. A punch should be a punch. What this gamed lacked was some teeth! This was not a sequel in my mind. It added nothing new. It just took the past, stuck it all together and wrecked it in the process. It may be fun for new timers because Street Figher is still a great game. But it was a major flop in the arcades, with not even a tenth of the money made which Alpha 2 did. Sorry, very disapointing

Street fighter alpha 3 is an ok game. Its not as good as the older versions. If you want a great fighting game get tekken3 ehgeriz, or marvel vs street fighter. I still reccomed this game though renting or buying. A problem is each fighter in the game does not have a lot of moves.

The best version of Street Fighter next to SF3: 3rd Strike

Street Fighter Alpha 3 is the best Street Fighter experience one can have on the original Playstation. With well over 20 characters selectable from the outset, classic Street Fighter gameplay, and multiple gameplay modes, this is one fighting game worthy of adding to any gamer's library. There are a few faults though. Some animation problems are present here and there (some characters have newly animated moves that don't quite fit with their old set of animation frames), the endings could have had more attention paid to them, and some of the music is rather bland. Also, for those of you who may not know, the Alpha series is supposed to take place between the events of the original Street Fighter and Street Fighter 2. So why are we seeing characters appear that are from the later versions of Street Fighter 2, such as Deejay, Fei Long, T. Hawk and Cammy? Even though Capcom may need to work on the story a bit, it's still nice to see all of the Street Fighters together in one game, so I'm not complaining. Even though there have been countless versions of Street Fighter before it, Street Fighter Alpha 3 proves that you can't beat a classic formula, and that the series is still very enjoyable. Unless you're completely burnt out on 2D fighting games, I recommend picking up Street Fighter Alpha 3 for either Playstation or Dreamcast.

Good Game! Lots of characters, 31 in all! These include: Ryu, Ken, Bison, Gouki, Chun-Li, Cammy, Sakura, Rose, Juli+Juni, Dan, Vega, Blanka, Zangeif, and many others. There is some difficulty with the moves that tell you to hold one directional key then push forward with another with either kick, punch, or something else. Secret characters, Evil Ryu and Guile can be acheived in world tour mode. Get you character to levels 30 and 31, and defeat them when they chalange you. Some characters (computer) can be incredibly cheap. These include, Vega, Bison, Gouki, Ryu, Ken, Karin, Blanka and Adon. Dificult moves and super combos. NOT a game for begginers.

Capcom's Grand Opus... you decide

Street Fighter Alpha 3 - Circa 1999

GOOD:
- Good Balanced 2D fighter, considered a classic to many hardcore 2D fighting fans
- Lots of modes to unlock and lots of fighters to choose from

BAD:
- Loading times, very short but still there
- Graphics might be dated for some people

WILL IT FIT YOUR TASTE:
- Not over the top like Guilty Gear X/X2, Marvel Vs Capcom, or Capcom Vs SNK
- Old School type game play and not combo heavy

GAME ITS MOST ASSOCATED TOO:
- King of fighters 2000 and up
- Fatal Fury: Mark of Wolves

ADDITIONAL NOTES:
- Last game in the Street Fighter "Alpha" franchise (as of 1999)
- Has all fighters from Street Fighters Alpha 1 and 2 as well as a few from the old time Street Fighter's like Street Fighter II: The world Tour
- Street Fighter Alpha is called Street Fighter Zero in Japan
- Practicality same game on Sega Dreamcast

I really like this game...it's easy and fun. I just got a playstation one and I have never really played many games before, but i have been sucked into a few arcades and I have always loved Street Fighter. I'm a girl who know nothing about video games, but I think it's great. I would suggest finding the players special moves before getting kicked, though.

SFA3 is good. It has great graphics, it doesn't take forever to load, and theres lots of extra things and choices you can do and lots of characters. It is very hard but it's still a fun game! Get it, It's worth endless hours of fun.
