Not as good as the P.C. version

Y.D.K.J. is amazing, but the PS version is not as good as the P.C. old school game.

Loved it!

This is a great game and I highly recommend it. Different enough from the computer versions of YDKJ that I owned but with the convenience of being able to play it on the Playstation Console. Yippee!

don't bother

luckily, i bought 2 playstation games at the video game store and got this one free, meaning i didn't have to spend money on this p.o.s. what is up with the blocky graphics? i mean did this come out of 1985 or something? i really don't like the shmitty guy. his jokes take forever and the punchlines are stupid. i've played 3 rounds so far and the main themes have been poop, placenta, and farting. give me a break. i hate that you can't pick the category and i that computerized girl voice is so hard to understand. seriously, do not get this game. if curiosity is getting the best of you then try to rent it or loan it from a friend who was unfortunate enough to buy it. i missed cookie in this game but he had the right idea not getting involved with this crap. bottom line: this game sucks!!

You Don't Know Jack Mock 2- A new game...or is it?

4 Rating: 4, Useful: 6 / 6

The game You Don't Know Jack Mock 2 appears to be a new game for the playstation game console. This is not true. This game is combined from the PC games You Don't Know Jack Louder! Faster! Funnier! and You Don't Know Jack 5th Dementia. I own both games and I still like this game.

There are five kinds of questions on this game. The types of questions are multiple choice, Dis or Dat, Wendithap'n, Coikydink, and Jack Attack. Despite what other reviewers say that there isn't the Dis or Dat they are wrong. I know this because I have the game and I just copied the question types out of the instruction booklet.

The multiple choice question is the question that occurs most often. A question pops up and four choices are given to pick from. If buzzed in to early, the player will not be able to see the question and/or see the screen and will most likely get it wrong.

A Dis or Dat is a one player matching question. Two categories are shown and the point is to separate the seven answers that appear into these categories. Some of the time there is a third category that means that the answer would fit into both of the categories.

A Wendithap'n is a question that asks if an event happened before, after, or never happened to another event. This question type was first in You Don't Know Jack Louder! Faster! Funnier! first and is not original despite what other reviewers say.

A Coinkydink is a question type where the player has to connect two clues by one word. Each right answer wins the player $1,000 and each wrong answer loses the player $1,000. At the end of the Coinkydink a bonus round occurs and players buzz in when the proper answer comes up that connects all of the answers. Hard core YDKJ fans will notice that this isn't a new question type either, and is just a renamed version of Roadkill from You Don't Know Jack The Ride.

Jack Attack is the last question of the game and can decide the game. A hint is shown in the middle of the screen and potential matches pop up for the players to buzz in on. Buzzing in isn't limited and can cost a player a ton of their money if they constantly buzz in wrong.

You Don't Know Jack Mock 2 is a good game despite being two games compiled into one. Even if you own You Don't Know Jack 5th Dementia and You Don't Know Jack Louder! Faster! Funnier! for the computer, this game is still fun. If you own the games you can know the answers ahead of time and show off to your friends. (MWAHAHA!)

No more cramming around the keyboard!

If you like YDKJ but don't like to cramp three people around a keyboard, then this game is for you. The game is pretty good, definitely not the best YDKJ game, but I'd just like to clear up some facts that the other reviewers got wrong:

The host of this game is Schmitty, not Cookie. The difference is that Cookie was a much better host. Schmitty gets the job done, though.

This game is not slow-paced AT ALL. If anything, it's too fast-paced. In the PC versions, the host introduces the theme of the show before jumping right in. In the Playstation version no screen was made for the host to introduce the theme, so he just does it after saying the category of the first question. What...?

Also, the "When'dit'hapin" question type is completely new to the YDKJ series. You won't be able to find it in any of the other games, PC or Playstation.

Finally, some more comments: during the final "Jack Attack" round, the center word is colored exactly the same as the area around it in the beginning, making it very hard to answer the question. Also, the game is supposed to automatically save the high scores onto your memory card, but it will only save onto memory card slot 1, and won't give you any message if there's no card in the slot.

This game is great! While it does seem odd that you can't choose a category or dollar value, it doesn't matter, because it's still one of the funniest trivia games out there!

I must mention, however that if you own The Ride, Louder! Faster! Funnier!, and/or 5th dementia, I would reccomend that you do NOT buy this game. Sierra seems to have a bad habit of pulling questions from existing Jack games for the playstation versions. This kind of makes sense, since it brings some of the funniest YDKJ questions to PSX owners who don't have PCs.

Pros
+fast-paced
+funny
+you don't have to crowd around the keyboard to play

Cons
-No new questions

Yawn...to say the least

I must say out of all the YDKJ games I've played, (1, 2, 3, the ride, sports, and this) this one is the worst. I found it both very slow paced and boring. The reason it got 2 stars was because I got a few laughs out of it. Boy am I happy I only rented, because I would definitely not pay 20 bucks for this game.

Mock 2 is great!

Mock 2 elimanates the need to choose a category. It just takes you right in. It is a great game. It is for Playstation, though, you PC lovers. A new question type, CoinkyDink, is a roadkill with a different name. It is hosted by schmitty. One of my favorite hosts. Mock 2 is a great way to experience the need of great trivia.

I must admit I was thrilled to get Mock 2, but after the first game, I put it on the shelf... way back... The graphics are cool, but they distract from answering the questions, and during the "Jack Attack" the colored backgrounds make reading the words on the screen very difficult. True its not Cookie hosting its Smitty, ie. "YDKJ: TV" for PC, that really doesn't bother me. I think new host and new intro to the question are a fresh idea. I just like being able to choose a catagory before the question. Mock 2 throws you right into a question. For my next YDKJ purchases I think I will stick to the PC versions.... Thanks!
