More than Fantastic

Fantastic Four is probably the best superhero game on the market. I haven't played the original FF game but it sound like a lot of hooey. The NEW Fantastic Four, on the other hand, outshines even X-Men Legends. The graphics are amazing, the story follows the movie well with a couple of classic villian detours, and the sound is superb. You can play as Mr. Fantastic who can strech his body to amazing lengths. Don't be fooled, it's fun to use and the creators got...well...creative and gave him spider mines to toss around. Next is the Human Torch. He's a fast mover and generally gets the edge in combat. He shoots fireballls, creates and fire vortex and can even send a swirl of fire on a certain enemy. Sue Storm, The Invisilble Woman. Now, don't let the woman thing fool you. She is the most powerful of the four. She can turn invisible, sneak behind enemys and kill them or freeze them. Her force powers lets her scatters the enemies all around and create a 'force wall' which, if aimed properly, can kill a foe in one or two hits! And let's not forget Ben Grimm, the Thing. Because of his bulk, the think has around 75-100 more health than the others. He can preform a bull charge, jump into the air a come down with and awesome shockwave, And slam his fist together to make a mini explosion.

All in all, the powers are handled wonderfully, the graphics are stunning, the story is compelling, so don't rent. BUY! As the Thing would say:

"IT'S CLOBBERIN' TIME!"

For anyone who's played the last Fantastic Four (for the original Playstation) you know FF fans have been waiting a LONG time for a decent Fantatstic Four game. Thankfully, we get one that goes well beyond decent.

It's hard to imagine the same company published both of them. Whereas the old FF game was repetitive and the use of the FF's powers rather unimaginitive, the new game uses the FF's powers to full effect.

The graphics (both in game and in the cinematics) are better then average. It's great that the main cast did the voices for the game as they sound great. Each character has their own interesting moves. Mr. Fantastic is the most surpisingly fun, with the ability to stretch, send out exploding spider-machines that act as mines, and create a whirl-wind attack with his fists. Sue can turn invisible as well as command a near indestructible force-field around herself. She can also use this to pick up and throw objects. Johnny hovers in the air, and can be a bit unweildy in his movements at first because they are so rapid. But once you get the hang of him, he's fun. You can fly around, throwing fireballs or creating a tornado of fire. Ben is a huge bruiser of a character. He's a lot of fun to use as he's not horribly slow like some large characters in videogames can be. He has some great grapple/attack actions as well as the ability to swing cars around to attack enemies!

In addition to each individual character attacks, each character has unique abilities they can perform during the course of the game, relying on their powers. This is a way to showcase the powers that can't really translate into mere button-mashing. Reed can "hack" into computer systems with a mini-game, Thing can do some MAJOR damage, etc.

I've not played through all of the game just yet, but the attacks you can use and the enemies are varied enough that it hasn't gotten boring. The game goes well beyond the movie's scope and has the FF jetting off to all sorts of locations. There is definitely replay value, as you are scored and you can unlock a lot of extras by searching for F4 Secrets. Also, you can choose how to spend upgrades so that you can juice up the power on the characters or watch some neat bonus materials.

Peope are saying the game takes about 5 - 10 hours to complete depending on whether you seek out the extras or not. While not that huge, it's a respectable length for today's action games.

The unique 4-character mode of play is fun. Pioneered by X-men Legends (also published by Activision), you can switch between the members of the Fantastic 4 at the mere hit of the direction pad button. This is extremely useful in battle situations. This can make the camera whiz around until it finds the character you selected, which can be slightly disorienting. However, this is the only instance I can think of where the camera of the movie can be a problem.

All in all, an excellent action-adventure game, that continues to break the old theory that games based on movies couldn't be well done and fun.

Fantastic Fun!!!

Fantastic 4......

As it states in the Fantastic 4 game manual, the game is an action brawling game and it is just that. An action brawling game that puts you in the shoes of Marvel's Fantastic 4. Where you can play as one or switch between them all in battle against Dr. Doom and all his evil cohorts, or share a two-player cooperative experience. Out of all the games that's come out based on Marvel Properties, I have to admit that I've played better games than the Fantastic 4(like X-Men Legends, & X2: Wolverine's Revenge) but, for what it is...a traditional action brawler, it is a really good one. It's about time videogame developers gave us games based on our favorite superheroes that truly do them justice and not suck horribly like games of old. Us comic book fans want to live out our favorite comic book moments in videogame form and 7 Studios does an admirable job at recreating that for us. The control is solid. Graphically, the game sports decent textures and fluid animation(but not quite top PS2 graphical standards). To me, the icing on the cake is the unlockable extras(which includes cast interviews, bios, other Activsion game trailers and more). The only pitfall to the game is the camera, which can go absolutely bonkers sometimes in the heat of battle and whatnot. Although not enough to kill the game completely, it does get annoying when you're doing your best to get through battle. Overall, Fantastic 4 is a decent game..lying somewhere between Fighting Force and X-Men Legends as far as action games go. Decent enough to please any comic-book fan, that's for sure.

So the Game for the Fans of Fantastic 4 it's just plain fantastic!

I watched the movie the other day and was amazed with everything it was a good movie and i havent seen one of these movies for a long time. Then i heard there was the PS2 game i knew i had to get it. I bought it and started playing and it was sooo brilliant that now finally they have made a good game that goes totally well with the fantastic movie. Most good movies have seriously rubbishy games but this is a first where the movie and the game is totally fantastic. It is amazing that the fantastic 4 movie has gotton some really low reviews but i just dont understand what they think is wrong with the game OR the movie? Totally a must buy for all fanatastic 4 fans and people who want the game of the year!!!

It's a lot of fun, just by moving the characters with the super powers you saw on the movie. For my self and my 8 yr old kid, It's a very entertaining game. The graphics are just OK, but I still like the game.

I got this game a while ago. When I played it, it didn't seem so good. The first level was slooooooow and boooooooring. I put it down and I didn't play it for a while. Then I picked it up, where it was collecting dust (LOTS of dust) and played it. The opening level was not as slooooooow and boooooooring like it was. It was just a slow start. Now the second level fixed it. It began with Reed Richards waking up in a hospital and decides he must get out and find the others. That level puts you straight into the action... almost. This is not a tutorial level. This is a level. You must hack into a computer (Ratchet & Clank ahoy) and get out of the room. Then beat up guys. Then hack more computers and the level is done. Short... but sweet. Now the most fun character to play is unquestionably The Invisible Woman. She can go invisible and pull of many impressive move plus having the ability to look hot (Jessica Alba IS hot. Face it). My fav attack is "Force Wall". The second most fun is Mr. Fantastic. Im am totally overusing his "Spinning Fists" attack. 3rd comes The Human Torch. He got heat... literally. My fav attack is either "Fire Vortex" or "Fire Wall". The fourth is Ben Grimm or THE THING!!! Don't get me wrong, he is not boring, just not as fun as the others :P.

Graphics
Characters: 7/10- Generally nice but flawed.
Animation: 9/10- Moves smoothly and looks good.
Enemies: 9/10- Good design but the spiders are creeepyyyy...
Backround: 10/10- The Tikal arena (The F4 vs Diablo) looks best.

Sound
Voices: 10/10- The movie cast sounds just as good as in the movie.
SFX: 8/10- Nice bams, hacks and slashes.
Effects: 9/10- The cosmic storm is brilliant!!!
Music: 7/10- A bit repeative but good.
Overall: 9/10- Swell. Quality sound.

Gameplay
Difficulty: 7/10- Not hard but the final boss is really tough!
Powers: 10/10- Invisible Woman's force powers. Wow!
Lenght: 7/10- Short but really sweet.
Replay Value: 9/10- Some secrets to uncover and missions to replay.
Overall: 9/10- AI glitches (both too dumb and too smart) but really addictive.

Overall: 9/10- Do not miss out on this one! The movie is heaven and so is the game. Get it!

-FINAL VERDICT-
Buy it. No rent. BUY!!!
Buy it along with Spider-Man 2.
And maybe Jak II and Jak 3.
I heard Destroy All Humans! is looking lovely this time of year.
Start being a fan of Jessica Alba like me!
Hope you make the right decicion and buy it.
Adios!

I loved this game. it was fun and the characters we're awesome. I liked all the cool missions of the game too. True half of the game wasn't from the movie but it was still fun. You got to fight FF Classic Villians, we'll almost. I mean you realy didn't go into battle with Mole-Man Or Puppetmaster. I think the best Villian was Dr. Doom. They should've had more story to him(Oh, Well). Overall it was a cool game. All of the FF Heros had cool combo attacks and super Moves. I enjoyed Playing The Thing & Mr. Fantastic. The Human Torch was kind of hard to fight with, because he was always flying. & The Invisible Woman was not so bad. They did a good job making the characters look like the Actors)Espcially The Invisibale Woman). All of the levels were fun too. The last level with Doctor Doom was pretty hard. But this was such an exceelent game.
