BUGGY

1 Rating: 1, Useful: 6 / 22

This game is full of bugs, and definitely not worth purchasing at this time. My roommate and I both purchased copies on release day, and we both ran into several problems, not always the same.
- Finding and copying the proper .dll's to a directory
- 10-15 minute load times (or freeze up) on multiplayer maps.
- Sound and lag issues in Single player
- This game uses Steam, and sometimes it wants to update the entire game (10 Gig)

Wait a few weeks, see what Ubisoft fixes, then check the forums to see if it is really worth it. I just wasted 100 bucks for 2 copies of an incomplete game... please save your money and don't do the same.

Can't even get it loaded....

I have no idea how good a game this might be because I can't even get it loaded! A long-time gamer, I scooted over to Ubisoft's website [game maker] and found loads of other people unable to load it as well. Here is the kicker - Ubisoft, a British company, has designed thier Tech help area of the site to bounce back all requests for help, saying mail/messages are undeliverable. They do provide an overseas phone number that they charge per/min. to use to contact them. Basically you get the shaft from this game producer - they have decided to make it impossible to get Tech help without paying more than you did for the game...sigh.

And ofcourse retailers in the USA all have a lovely return policy on opened goods because they think we are pirating stuff. Can't run and can't return it.

Why does the game always freeze up?

i have a very high end computer and this game just refused to play smooth. Dont you love it when youre on your horse and it freezes up every 5 seconds? Never had this problem with Oblivion. Save your money people unless you have a super fast million dollar computer!

Play Oblivion Instead

I have not been able to play the game. Every time I have attempted to, it restarts my system. I have downloaded all the "patches", installed, uninstalled, and over again trying to get this game to work on my pc which does fall within all of the specified game requirements to be able to play the game. Obviously there is a huge problem with the game and I can not understand how a game publisher/game developer would release this without working out these major issues. Also, I am out the money it cost me for the program, since they have all of the laws against piracy which leaves me with a game that doesn't work, and without the money that it cost me for this glorified coaster.

Full of bugs

Do not purchase this game. It has many many bugs. THe game will not load past the first chapter causing frequent freezes and lockups.

Beware serious performance problems

This game could have been tremendous! I really loved the demo and it played OK for the first few levels. However, it quickly turned into a problem and performance made the game play very slow and then crash out completely. I am a computer professional and have a pretty good machine. I worked for weeks trying to get it to run right and found that for some people, the game runs fine but others have a nightmare experience for which there is no resolution. If you're one of the lucky ones this could be a great game. For me - it was disaster. The company is no help. The forums provided no answers that worked.

I have a new PC that meets the specs (including DirectX 9) listed on the box. The game would not install. Tech support told me the game would never install with my processor. This is a game for the high-end gamers' market only. Save your money and go to a console. "Indiana Jones" anyone?

I've not ever played a M&M game, so my mediocre rating is not because it is unlike others of a similar name.

That being said, this is the 2nd game is as many weeks that I bought on a whim & would've been better off flushing my $$. Apparently, doing a lot of research & weighing whether potential problems vs. actually playing is a prerequisite.

My system is fine, there's no doubt it can handle the game, & once I actually got into the short tutorial, I was amazed at the physics & the way the game went. I enjoyed the realism of the engine, the way the controls handled, etc. The view angle is a little narrow, but that is debatable. In the short tutorial, the game garnered its stars.

However, getting into said tutorial was where I ran into problems. Getting the dreaded errors upon just starting the game (which, if you peek about other sites & forums - you'll see what I mean). Crashes, looped music/sounds, etc.

After troubleshooting for 2 hours & (finally) getting into the tutorial, I really thought the game could hold potential, as noted. The next evening, I wanted to show my husband...I began a new game, all was well - & then mid-fight of the 2nd or 3rd baddie, the sword-clang sound started looping...& (surprise face!) crashed.

I feel I'm pretty patient. I have been able to work thru the buggiest of games at times, & I realise that every game has them. But more & more this 'buggy on shelf, patch later' trend gets to me. I'm grateful for patches that fix minor or major bugs, but I also recall being younger, when internet was a rarity, & actually purchasing a game that did what it said - provided an -action-roleplaying-flying simulator-etc. experience. Perhaps developers should pretend that the internet doesn't exist when creating their game?

Fun but crashes like mad even WITH the first patch.

I got this game "free" when I purchased an NVIDIA 8800 GTX graphics card. The game was awesome for about 2 minutes, and then the crashes begain, so I applied the patch, upgraded the drivers from NVIDIA and it's still crashing. Graphically, it "looks great", but playability is not there when I hit any of the "menu options", the screen goes black, and sooner or later, this game actually crashes the computer, not just the game itself. Hopefully it's not going to remain a pile of junk, because the online demo and the small parts of the game I've been able to play seemed really fun. I wouldn't buy this game anywhere though until the forums respond positively that the bugs are worked out of it. I have a ripping fast computer and the top of the line graphics card and it still crashes, so perhaps it's better on a baseline system, who knows.

This is not Might and Magic

This is what happens when a company (Ubisoft) buys the rights to call whatever they produce by the same name as a successful franchise (3DO's Might and Magic series) in order to fool people into buying their software.

If you were expecting a continuation of the great Might and Magic series, don't waste your money, this isn't it. I haven't gotten far enough to tell you what you will get, but so far it seems like little more than a narrated movie with you being pulled along by your nose. Hopefully it will improve...

So far I am very disappointed.
