To be completely honest, I was going to purchase Crackdown mainly for the invitation to the Halo 3 multiplayer beta. Things really changed when I played the Crackdown demo. I was amazed at how much fun I was actually having. The demo lets you play for 30 minutes and when those 30 minutes were up I needed to get the full game.
I got my copy of Crackdown on Sunday and I haven't been able to get enough of the game. The storyline has come along pretty well. It's not a major storyline, but it keeps you occupied. You can easily beat all three gangs in one sitting, but there are tons of achievements outside of story mode to keep you playing and challenged. The game is pretty much a dream come true. All of the super powers you get, it's great. Best thing is that they only get better in time. I don't really know what else to say about the game, it's just awesome! The game aside from the Halo 3 beta is worth the $60 and the beta is just another great reason to buy Crackdown.

This game is actually really really fun. It's cool because for once you're the most powerful person in the game. No one is nearly as strong or skilled as you are. But that doesn't mean the game is easy as the enemies swarm you. So you do have to use some smarts. Rushing in works sometimes but it'll get you killed a lot times.
Sometimes I'll do stupid stuff just for fun. For example, I'll park a couple buses on the freeway to block traffic. Then I'll get some steel drums with explosives and place them around the buses. When I've gotten 10 or so drums I'll throw a limpet mine on them, run away, and blow up the whole thing. I know... it's stupid but it's fun.
I really like the rooftop jumping for orbs. At first it seems stupid... kind of old school platforming. But it adds a whole different dimension to the game as you have to really think about how to get onto certain rooftops. Jumping Matrix-style from one roof to another is cool but kind of scary too.
Overall I gave this game 4 stars because there are some things that could've been done better. The hand-to-hand combat could use more variety as your character can only kick and stomp. The weapons could've been a little more creative. I would've liked some flame-throwers, dart guns, or whatever. The weapons selection is a little sub-standard. This game is definitely great for a rental but to get the most out of it I suggest buying it and discovering all the things you can do.
One of my favorite games

Crackdown is undoubtedly one hell of a game. You can literally spend hours upgrading your character to max ability. There's so much to do in this game that it will take a really long time before you get bored of it. On TOP of that you get the Halo 3 beta when you buy a copy before the offer ends.
insanely fun, I love this game

totally worth the money. It's so entertaining, it's even fun just watching someone else play it. I maxed my guy out and killed all the bosses,..but it's still a riot jumping around the city. Can't wait for either the sequel or some downloadable extras. Great JOB to whoever wrote this game, it couldn't have been better!
This should be called "CrackedOut"

Yeah, this game is addictive. Highly addictive. Once you get your agent to a certain level, jumping around and sniffing out every single agility orb and hidden orb is what life becomes. I actually look forward to the weekends more then I ever did in the past six months. This is due to CrackDown. As far as the game goes, it is pretty much what I hope games like this will be from now on. I have played all the GTA/Saints Row/Godfather type games, and for what those games are, they are fun. This game borrows some of the engine but still manages to be unique both in appearence and gameplay. You are a juiced-up cop on the prowl for gang members and their leaders. You can pick up cars and toss them around. You can pick up cars with families in them and chuck them off a cliff. I know, its sick. But it is so fun. Your guy just gets stronger and stronger. Soon you will jumping Matrix style from building to building wasting any enemies that come out for a peek. I also love the graphics. This isn't Gears or Fight Night level stuff, but the city is beautiful, the colors are bright and Pacific City has tons of areas to explore. Personally I think these kind of graphics are more appealing then the real life stuff. Great game....9/10.

This is a really cool game. The only thing I don't like is that it is supposed to be in a ghetto futuristic city. I wish it wasn't a ghetto and was like a super cleaned up shiny city. Single player campaign is ok, it's kind of ridiculous when you have to take on hordes of gangsters and they're all shootin at u and that gets obnoxious, but the co - op is excellent. Gameplay I'd say 4 stars, Graphics I'd say 4.5 stars, story I'd probably give like a 4, but overall I'd give this game a 4.8. LOL

This game is a blast to play. It's the superpowers you get when your skills are built up that make the game very entertaining.

I initially was annoyed that this game got sent to me sooner then I expected from Gamefly. I didn't have very high expectations of it and it was rather low on my list. However, I found out that there's a bug of sorts over at Gamefly where even if a game shows high availability, it may only be high in either the west or east coast warehouses. Such was the case for me where the games I wanted were in low quantities coming from my warehouse so Crackdown got sent to me. Oddly enough, Forza 2 was shipped out a day later which was number three in my que. Oh well.
So, I got the game and decided to play it last night (gamertag on Xbox Live: ky0t3). It is actually really fun. What's interesting is that when your playing, people can ask to join you and play with you (and vice versa).
The game mechanics are fairly simple. You go around and beat up/kill thugs. Depending on how you do it, either strong arming them, shooting, them, running them over various characteristics about your character will change. Shoot someone, your speed and accuracy at shooting will increase. Run them over with a car, your driving abilities will increase. There are other ways to increase certain activities as well. Racing your car through the streets will help, jumping ramps and landing your car on all four wheels also helps driving. Doing roof top racing will increase your agility.
Since your some super bioman, your strength will increase to the point that you can lift cement trucks and toss them at foes. More and more of the world becomes a weapon you can use to help clean the streets.
Jumping and scaling buildings is pretty fun, too. And you'll do a lot of it as you hunt down agility balls (there name for them, not mine). The harder it is to get to them, the more their worth. As your strength and agility increases you'll be able to jump far and high. You'll begin to ask yourself if you even need a car.
So, give the game a shot, it's actually pretty fun.

Very sad to here that there won't be a sequal. This game is a blast. Nothing beats being able to jump 30 feet and fire multiple rounds of heat seeking rockets and groups of bad guys in vehicles. The explosions are a treat to the eyes.
