not what it should be

Lost Planet seemed to be at first another great next-gen game for the 360. Maybe you could've even put it in the lineup with games out like gears of war and rainbow six vegas. But sadly, with games like those released, Lost Planet doesnt compare.

Lost Planet is a third person shooter (your camera angle is behind the main character, unlike FPS) and with not to many 3rdPS's out right now, you can only really compare it to gears of war and splinter cell:double agent, which, like said, cannot be compared. The graphics although are outstanding. The explosion effects are just awesome. I could blow those barrels up all day just to see the fire. Really good effects with graphics and sound. Gameplay is ok. You feel like you run really slow, kinda like you have weights tide to your ankles. Also those little red things you need to get to keep warm and not die(sorry, forgot what they're called), it a cool new add-in thats gives more challenge, but at the same time, can be very annoying when fighting a boss and you die just because you couldnt find the little red things. Then agian, the boss fights are done very well. Its a good challenge, but pretty fun at the same time. The story is interesting, yet kind of confusing for some people. I dont like giving stuff like that away though, so find out yourself :). But honestly it just isnt that fun when you have such better shooter games out there to play. I have not played this online, so maybe there is a difference online, but still, i wouldn't waste my money. It is worth a rent i would say, but just like I've said about other "so-so" games, not worth $60. you can save that money for gasoline.

pretty good

This game is ok, it has awesome graphics. I agree with some people saying the thermal energy is a waste because you constantly have to get those little red things and if you run out you die, it makes no sence, the guy that you play with runs slow which another dude said, but its a challenge the bosses are pretty hard but not all of them, but i hate fighting the bosses because half the time i lose all of my thermal energy but i dont really recommend it but, you can buy it if you want...

An absolute blast to play!!!

This game is great, from the start you are tossed in to a fast paced action packed thrill ride. Yes this game does have some fairly difficult parts in it but that just makes it all the sweeter once you beat that nasty boss at the end of a mission. The graphics are superb and the gameplay is top notch. This game was worth every penny I payed for it.

Great Snow Day Game

Lost Planet is beautiful. It was great to play through the single-player game just to explore the amazing levels. The bosses at the end of the levels really make this game stand out. The bosses are big and explosive. At normal difficulty I thought it was just right for providing a challenge without getting frustrated. All XBox-360 owners should get a chance to play though the single-player game during the winter.

PROS:

Very decent graphics, no gripes here

The physics make this game very fun, you get satisfaction from blowing the tar out of giant bug things

Sound is excellent, it sounds incredible with surround

Simple controls and gameplay allow for a very smooth running game

CONS:

Online leaves alot to be desired

Cutscenes are dumb and long

Not worth the 60 bucks yet, more like 50

Repetitive missions are sometimes annoying, don't try to play this in one sitting

Great!

This game was really quite enjoyable. But it is really simple, the enemies are simple to defeat, and it can get old really fast if you don't fall in love with it. But even if you just buy it and play it every once in a while i think its worth it. The single player missions can get a little tedious and the story line is nothing special but if you make it a little bit more difficult for yourself it can be pretty fun. What i mean is dont just kill whats right in front of you. Go out of your way, wander around, kill everything, even the giant boss style creatures that most people wont go after. Do that and you will get a real sense of accomplishment. You can brag to frinds about beating the giant snow worm that everyone else runs from. You dont have to mention the thing ate you twenty or so times. If you do everything in the game and play it to the fullest, it is a great game to have. Not to mention it doesnt have any real blood and gore so a younger child could play this and a parent wouldn't need to worry about there child being filled with greusome images. Where else can your kid fight fight off giant scorpions the size of a semi truck? Now that can be fun for the whole family!

Great game but a little repetative

While playing this game I found the experience genuinely enjoyable for the first few hours of play. After about 3/4 through the game the game play gets a little repetitive, but still enjoyable. The plot was written well and the story is entertaining, but the voice acting is a little generic and dull. Overall the game is a nice new look on the action shooter, adding some great flavor to the genre, but the game lacks that classic replay ability that all top games have.

Kind of wish it had stayed Lost...

I rented this game (a good thing too) since I didn't have the cash to buy it, but trust me, I wanted to buy it bad. I have to say the fun factor wears thin rather fast. The only reason I wanted to play it all the way through was for the story, but as I got more and more into it, the story just doesn't make any sense at all...The Akrid (monsters) can't live on the planet if it's heated, making it better for all man kind due to the monsters being gone and it will not be a frozen waste land anymore...But when I venture into the Planet I find the creatures are in greater numbers, bigger, and meaner around the heat of lava? Or am I to believe that this strange, alien planet has ice cold lava? And then there's just all the other crazy stuff that you get in these crazy games that will drive you nuts...
And that stuff wouldn't matter much if it were fun...but it isn't. There were a few levels where I was being attacked by both that big monsters and the people, and I couldn't fight back due to the design of having your character fumble around for 3 minutes when he gets hit. So basically I had to drudge my way out of that area each time he would stand up for a few seconds before being knocked down.
And with a story that falls apart, characters that you hate, the games repetiveness just gets to you. The robot suits don't even make it worthwhile at a certain point. And multiplayer, I'd rather not... I'll stick to Gears of War when I want to gun my Xbox Live buddies down.

So Rent it? Sure, but don't believe the hype. But you won't need it in your collection for a rainy day when you have nothing better to do.

I did have high expectations of the game and most of it was was to my liking...The story line was confusing, but does come together at the end... Thermal energy collecting did present a to be a difficult feat at times specially with some of the bosses, but I think all in all I rather enjoyed the game

Great Graphics, fun FPS

This is really the first FPS game I have played, having concentrated on RPGs in the past. I thought the game play was outstanding, simple to follow and very entertaining. Some of the bosses can be a little challenging (at least for an inexperienced gamer like myself). The storyline was fascinating and fun and not at all difficult to follow as far as I am concerned. It took me a long time to finally kill GreenEye. Ironically the easiest boss was the final one...
Highly recommended. It took a very inexperienced player like myself about 20 hrs to complete the entire game. Online play was not as much fun as regular mode, as you are a snow pirate online.
