This game is breath taking! I just ordered my SNES w/7 games off ebay (The greatest site ever!). I knew I should have saved this game from 95. This is the coolest game by far (especially the warterfall level) you have to get this!

OK for a SNES platformer...

This is one of the better SNES platform games (since the SNES does have a number of platformers that are not Nintendo's best). The story is creative and strange since it involves monkeys (why do they call a monkey Donkey we'll never know). The gameplay is excellent and graphics are decent. The game can be beaten without much help but with a lot of work and timing. The fault is that it is not really addictive. You play it for a week and then store it away and take it out later. This is otherwise good and you should definitely pick up a copy.

SIMPLE AND FUN!

Donkey Kong is a great game for everyone because it is fun for children and adults. The Donkey Kong world is so easy to understand yet so animated. Unlike the 360 degree SD worlds that are too complex, Donkey Kong is easy to understand yet challenging in that you must "fight off your enemies" which is the main point anyway. Also, the worst that happens in this game is you throw a barrel at a crocodile or rat. No guns, no violence, or anything inappropriate for kids.

This was the best Donkey Kong game ever! Why? Well for one thing, it has undeniably the best graphics on the Super Nintendo. Of course, a game can hardly be judged by the quality of its graphics, as any true gamer knows. The characters are interesting, the gameplay is fun(even if it is easy), and it has a pretty good story. This is definitely a classic game for the SNES. It's fun no matter how many times you beat it!

Greatest Video Game Ever

I have been playing video games all my life. When I first played Donkey Kong Country, I thought I was in video game heaven. It's fun, challenging, and entertaining. Something many video games of today lack. I mean sure there have been real break throughs with games like Grand Theft Auto and Final Fantasy 7, but this game is still one of the most enjoyable I've ever played. Anyone who is a fan of video games should know the importance of this game and anyone who just loves to play fun games should pick this game up. Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest is also another very good game, so if you can find pick that one up too!

Donkey Kong Country is a new adventure with DK and new Diddy with
fighting an army of Kremlings and billions of bananas, go in lots of bonus barrels, get cameras, go through invisible warps and get lives! Beat all 6 bosses and defeat K. Rool. Go to Funky's or Candy's(Funky:fish, fly,Candy:dance).
I give Donkey Kong Country a "11"(lucky number)!!
It's just another monkey mayhem!

Donkey kong country is one of the coolest games I have ever played...I played this awhile ago...Back when SNES just came out and I happend to buy this game...Well acctually my dad got it for me as a gift...This game was off the hook.

The gameplay was original. Same with characters and eveything.
The lengh of the game was great...Not too long but great...
The controls were easy to use...learn in about, what...4 minutes.

DKC was probably the best DK game ever..

If you like DKC then get the second one..It's got all the same of 1 but with some some new stuff mixed with it...This is a GREAT game!

Get it if you're an SNES fan such as myself...Get it if you can find it...

Later...

proof that you don't need next gen. garbage for a great game

Donkey Kong Country really pushed the limits of what the SNES could do. The graphics were very ahead of their time. I don't normally rate graphics, but this game gets points just because it had 3-d textures and characters in a 2-side scroller, which was a first for games back then. Also, the sound design in this game is great. Each sound is clear, and you can easily distinct the step of one of those fat brown dudes with the green army helmets from the sound of a crocodile's mouth opening and closing. This game is loads of fun, with two characters who you can switch between depending on what the situation calls for. There are tons of secrets to find, and riding around on the animals is an experience a true gamer could never forget. This game serves up great challenge without getting too hard. The levels in this game are brilliantly designed, and make for deeply addictive gameplay. If you like this one, check the second and third one also, as the series builds on its weak points as well as its strong points, making for great, well rounded gameplay in all of the games.
