First off, this is the best tactical shooter I have ever played. GRAW was great but it was a little too unforgiving with the difficulty for my particular taste. So difficult that in fits of rage over what i thought to be cheap deaths I actuall broke, not one, but two controllers. While the difficulty added to the realism i just didn't have the patience or temper for it. I still loved it and played the hell out of it anyway. What I think is great about Vegas is it manages to be less infuriating with the difficulty settings while still maintaining an unparalleled sense of realism. that does not mean it is not challenging and I bet it will give most shooter pros a little hassle here and there. Not only does it have a great sense of realism, from the guns and the way they handle to the wicked AI of enemies and even wickeder AI of your squad, it also looks amazing. I don't own a HDTV but it still shows an amzing amount of detail both in the characters and backgrounds and the colors of virtual vegas pop off the screen. The audio is equally as good and detailed as the visuals. The controls are smooth as butter and fairly intuitive considering all the different gameplay options mapped to the buttons. All this combines to make for one of the most, if not thee most, intense and exciting tactical shooters around but I feel it does have a couple glaring flaws. The first and most frustrating is the checkpoints. sometimes you hit one right after another, which is good, and sometimes i've had to play for nearly a full hour before the game would save, not so good. the janky savepoint system has caused me to play through about a third of the game multiple times to advance. This is just my opinion but i feel that there is nothing wrong with a challenging game yet if the developers know that players will die frequently they should implement a better save system. Janky save systems have ruined other gaming experiences for me as well (dead Rising anyone). on the flip side though there is a great feeling of satifation to be had in vegas by just reaching a checkpoint. the other flaw i speak of is saving one of your teammates when he goes down. saving your squad mate works fine if you can get your other squadmate to him but much of the time he won't be able or willing to help. thus, you have to run out into the open in the middle of a fire fight and rescue him or it's game over. It's not the risking my characters life that bothers me as it is just part of the realism. To save the guy you must get close and examine him until you get a prompt saying push a to revive, or something along those lines. What makes it so frustrating though is you have look all over the guy to find the prompt and many times i could never even get the prompt to show letting the enemy pick me apart while I thoroughly examine my dying pal. If this is realistic I would think that field medics and their patients would be the highest casualties in any conflict. Maybe it's just me, but even finding the prompt doesn't always help as i have, time and again, hit the a button which prompted my character to... stare at his dying squadmate so I hold the button down which prompts my character to...stare at his dying squadmate so I tap the button wildly which prompts my character to... get shot to death. these two flaws don't come close to ruing this amazing game but they did prompt me to... not give it five stars.

I have played this game a lot in single player and online. I love both a lot. Online is very addicting, it is a lot of fun to work your way up through the ranks and unlock new equipment. If you get this game you will not be disappointed at all. I have found myself playing till the early hours of the morning.

The single story mode is an absolute blast also, the control that you have over your partners is very quick compared to some games that I have played. You cannot blasting through the windows into a room full of terrorist. If you are even thinking about buying this game, just get it, do not wait any longer.

PRIOR TO COD4, this was THE best X-Box 360 shooter game

See COD4 review in relation to this review:

This game is THE best shooter game, perhaps THE best game of any kind, right now for the X-Box 360. While I love the first-person shooter perspective, it's the varied and detailed on-line levels that have me hooked. The single player story itself pales in comparison to the fun factor of online play. In fact, I've given up on playing it off-line.

I've actually been converted from playing Counter Strike Source for the PC - this 360 game is that good.

Hopefully they'll keep releasing new levels to play.

This is THE game. Get it now!

Excellent. Ubisoft improves the R6 franchise and bests the Ghost Recon franchise. I compare this game directly with GRAW, since both are Ubisoft squad-based FPS. My criticisms are extremely minor.

PROS
- Excellent visuals and varied levels and maps.
- AI: excellent enemy AI and friendly AI (they don't run out and commit suicide immediately like GRAW). The AI of both sides creates some furious firefights.
- No forced GRAB COVER!
- No thousand distracting blips all over the screen as in GRAW. Only as many as you need.
- Command options are simple and straight-forward.
- good variety of weapons, attachments and items. each weapon has it's own unique visual reload and makes it's own flavorful sound.
- lead voice actor is a hick adding good flavor.
- was never stuck to the point where I had to consult the internet.
- check the product placement posters, one is of former heavy metal show Uranium hostess Julyia.

CONS
- uses Unreal engine which is excellent except for the unrealistic deal where you can get shot an infinite # of times (like in Gears of War).
- no exact button/stick mapping.
- still can't do something as simple as jumping. Jumping is fun. More fun than just walking.
- sniper riffles seem to all have the exact same stats.
- voice acting in general still sounds weird. Ubisoft France needs to hire some actual American voice actors.
- no SAVE ANYWHERE and checkpoints are spread out wide so you will be repeating the same crap over and over and over again.

The Best Game so Far!

I love this game. The online multiplayer is awesome and VERY addictive. The fact that you can personalize your online character with your own face is hillarious. I have both my eyes closed, so when people see me on-line it looks like I am shooting with my eyes closed. Very funny.
The single player games are just as fun. The movement is very quick and smooth. The few glitches are so funny sometimes we (online Friends and I) have to take pictures with our cellphones to email to our other buddies. I can't wait for the new maps.

The story mode has an ending that leaves room for a sequel, A LOT OF FRICKEN ROOM. But other than that, it was a great game, it's not as beautiful as other games out their, such as Gears of War, but it does feel nice to have people die without having to put a whole clip into them. The single player mode is why i got the game, but the multiplayer is why I keep playing. My advice is this: If you want a good tactical shooter, with great multiplayer, buy this game.

Viva las Vegas!

The newest in the Rainbow six franchises is the best one yet. A good FPS with awesome graphics and game play. The real world tactics are very accurately depicted. This game is true to its military route, fire team hand signals, MOUT room clearing, fast roping and repelling and tactical formations. You get an array of real world weapons. The setting this time is Las Vegas. This adds to the coolness factor. Sometimes it's hard to get an accurate bead on your enemy but it's a minor problem that is easy to shrug off as you're playing. One of the best shooters and if you're an online games this one is defiantly up your alley. This is one to buy for sure.

This is one of the most realistic games i have played for the xbox. The online line play is great and there will be 6 new maps coming soon. i would recommend this game to anyone that likes to play first person shooters. BETTER THEN G.R.A.W. 2

Really this and Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 2 are equals. However online game play is different as is campaign. But I own them both and don't regret spending the money.
