one of the best games ever made...period

This games does Star Wars justice! If you thought Star Wars for NES, Gameboy, and Gamegear was great, you ain't seen nuthin' yet! Awesome graphics, awesome music (complete with excellent renditions of the music from the film's original score), awesome sound effects, and unbelievably great gameplay. It's tough to decide which SNES Star Wars game (Super Star Wars, Super ESB, Super ROTJ) is best...I'd say Super Star Wars and Super ESB tied for #1, and Super ROTJ my least fave (even though it's great as well). Super Star Wars is super fun!

Jumping is terrible!

The gameplay is okay, but the jumping is terrible. On the first two levels, you just keep falling. It gets stupid after a while

Great Game

Game rocks!!! Nice to be able to still get the oldies from Amazon. Thanks, Christopher

With the exception of the Sandcrawler level, this game rocks.

This is definetly the start of something good. The two later Super Star Wars games were a lot more forgiving than this title, simply because the "Inside the Sandcrawler" stage is extremely difficult, due to difficult enemies and more difficult jumps ( it wouldn't surprise me if Luke's 'double jump' in the later games came after negative feedback here). If you manage to get past the sandcrawler stage, you're in for a very fun game, particularly when you're allowed to choose characters- Luke, Han or Chewie. Perversely, that Sandcrawler stage is the hardest in the game- and it's the 4th level! I recommend this game for the patient, skilled gamer.

Room for improvement, but an overall good game.

For the time, the graphics were top notch. It included some 3D gameplay when over 98% of games were side-scrollers. The gameplay is a lot like Castlevania and Contra with a little bit of Starfox. The controls remind me of Castlevania too. They could've made them a little smoother. I don't like having to start all over again just because I miscalculate a jump and fall into the lava. Which brings me to the "Inside Sandcrawler" stage. Why is that one so much harder than the levels that come after? The stage is like a canker on the roof of my mouth. The "Outside Sandcrawler" doesn't bother me too much, but it does suck if you fall... if you fall, you have to climb that forsaken thing all over again. It gets better after that. You get to play as Han or Chewy, you get a lightsaber, you fight stormtroopers, and there's a tie fighter/death star battle at the end. The music's great. It sounds exactly like the movie, which I think was pretty new at the time. Before that, it was just simplified 8 or 16 bit music. Overall it's pretty fun. It's only about 4 bucks for a used game, so what can you lose? You can barely get coffee at 4 bucks anymore.

The super star wars trioligy is a winner

(...)i'm not really much of a star wars
fan but i still like star wars pretty much so anyway i really think that lucas arts did very cool job on the three super star wars games on the snes,so here is my review on the three games

Graphics 5/5 the game has very good graphics
the characters look like themselves and also
have a bit of mode 7

sound 5/5 the music and sound effects which
i think is the best part of the game you will
hear all you favrate songs from the classic
trioligy like the imperial march (which is my favrate) the star wars main theme and the huntedly ereie emperior's theme, the sound effects you hear will be chewie's grolw, darth vader's breathing, and a bit of voice samples like at the end of super star wars (the origenal game) when you fly the x-wing at the treanch in the death star and before you fire the proton toepedo in the exhault port you hear obi wan's voice saying, USE THE FORCE LUKE

replay value 4/5 the replay value is very good because each of some of the stages has charecter you can chose from, you can play luke, han, chewie, liea, and of coruse wicket the ewalk
gameplay 5/5 the gameplay is fun and maybe audictive each of the charecter has each of he's/her's own abillity like luke can use his lightsaber but the others don't and also you can pilot the vicales from the movie like the snowspeeder, the milleneum falcon, and the x wing

overall 5/5 so in the end if you are a star wars fan or looking for a action packed game than you have it so my suggetion is to buy the whole trioligy but there is one very small flaw even though it is based on the star wars films is that the story of the trioligy could be a bit alter but a still a good buy to any fan out there until then

MAY THE FORCE BE WITH YOU

Wow! These opinions are amazing about the game!

I wouldn't dare insult people's opinions, but this game is my least favorite of the Super Star Wars Trilogy! Go and rent it at a store to see if you agree with me or not because this is the kind of game I think you need to know about in advance! Like all the Super Star Wars, it is hard to beat but is boring to me! I feel it in the force, it is not a good game! I love the classics, but they made it almost impossible to beat, even for a Brave, like me! ...

If you are a fan of Star Wars, this game is worth playing...

If you are looking for an entertaining and challenging game, try playing Super Empire Strikes Back. If you're not a fan of Star Wars, you should pass on this game. The game has a lot of levels, and there are passwords for each level so that you don't have to start at the beginning every time. The hard part is getting past the levels. This game is a lot more challenging than Super Star Wars. If you don't have a game genie, I would recommend buying one for this game. The game is frustrating because it's almost impossible to pass a level without dying. Except for that, the game is pretty entertaining. You can get the passwords for each level by going to ... . There are other sites where you can get the passwords too.
So if you haven't played any of the Super Star Wars games, try playing this one after you've played Super Star Wars first. Super Star Wars is less challenging and you won't get as frustrated with it.

The best And Still going...

The Start of a Good Video Game Adaptation Trilogy

4 Rating: 4, Useful: 2 / 3

Many movies that get turned into Video Games do not fair well. More often than not they don't follow the movies very well at all or they simply fail at having decent gameplay. Sometimes even both. The Super Star Wars trilogy on the Super Nintendo has decent gameplay. They don't follow the movies to a tee (especially the first game) but they're good games nonetheless that many gamers are destined to like.

The game begins on the Dune Sea where you'll play as Luke Skywalker. You begin the game with a simple blaster and can power it up through the level. The first power up gives you flame. Afterwards you can power the blaster up to Heat Seekers, Rapid Ion and Plasma. You can't carry all five blasters at the same time however. They stack on one another. There are fifteen levels in Super Star Wars and as the game progresses so will the gameplay. Eventually Luke will be able to use a lightsaber and eventually you'll get to use Han and Chewbacca.

Super Star Wars is not an easy game, however. While no where near as difficult as "The Empire Strikes Back" the game provides a good challenge nonetheless. Many times you'll find yourself suffering from cheap deaths. Some levels are also populated with dangers that will kill you in one hit. To compensate the game has difficulty levels. Easy, Brave and Jedi. All of which are fairly challenging.

In terms of graphics, Super Star Wars looks very good for a video game released in 1992. There are a few moments of slowdown while playing and a few moments where certain aspects of the environment will be clipped, but nonetheless the levels are very detailed. Even better is the music in the game which sounds very close to the movie, only sixteen bit. If anything, the only big problem with the music is that there isn't much of a soundtrack to it. Many levels, especially in the later half of the game, make the same music over and over again.

Super Star Wars is still a brilliant game for its time. Gamers looking for a challenge and nostalgia will be happy to play this.
