Anyone who is even mildly interested in warfare, or internal wars featured in China will be extremely addicted to this game. The fact that you can customize generals will add replay value to this game, far more than any other. I highly recommend this game if you are in to turn based, month by month, strategy, with turn based warfare, and diplomatic missions.
Koei is to strategy, as Squaresoft is to roleplaying.

Once again, Koei manages to enthrall long awating fans with the sixth verison of the Romance series. Still mantaing all the game characteristics that made the first five games in the series memorable, Romance of the Three Knigdoms Six brings new and more indepth gameplay to gamers. Numerous land units, water units, extensive senarios, and intense cinima graphics are just a few of the perks that await you in the war torn China. The exciting military/strategy gameplay make for hours of replayable, war-torn fun!

Koei's Romance of the Three Kingdom series has never disappointed me in their games. Much improvement is showm on this latest of the series. More new commands has been added as well as being able to actually create custom generals into the family of an actuall character of the game. The only downside of this game that made me think VI is not as well made as V is that the command for rewarding the general with money has been taken off. In other words, if your general is not loyal to you... he is basically gone or will be gone sooner or later. Though with this minor flaw, the game is still very good and worth while to buy.

I just say that i love the whole RTK series but in number 6. I believe that Koei made a mistake. does anyone notice that their is not hardly anything to do in between months while your waiting for tax income? theres no rewarding your generals. and no training your troops either, both of these things not only made the game more realistic but also used up downtime in between wars and tax time. One thing that i do like is that thier is a good amount of fighting in the long missions, which was lacking in previous versions. I also really think that the fighting is much improved. and the new ranking system with all of the gazillions of ranks to bestow on your officers. but you will find your self skipping many a month (turn) in the game. the graphics are the best ever for a romance game but i for one dont play this game for the graphics, i play for the strategy ive logged more than 5,000 hours playing this series!

I wonder what koei was thinking, I currently owned all romance games and was very anxious to see thsi one come out. As i was playing it all m y hopes of how good the game should be were flushed down the toilet. The instruction mannual what is what caused a late release sucks, it doesnt help you out or say what to do much. There is no training soilders, nor rewarding officers. I dont like how you cant have extended wars, and you are so limited in the game in what you can do month to month. You cant learn new skills and the game is limited in war tatics such as weather, wind, bolt and alot other things that made the game fun. As for ranking system, sience the instruction mannual suchks still havent figured out how to get rank. And one finail note, If you make a charater you better make him 35 yeras old because the stats you give him we wont obtain tell he gets that old. That is REALLY cheezy and major letdown. When i obtained special weapons it doesnt tell you, you have to figure that out on your own if you got them from beating a general. And i hate the fact you lose men in winter if you are at war. I beat the whole game first night owned not needing anything but regular foot soilders, making all those special types non desirable to get, I never even had a duel. Compared to part four what is the best koei game ever made, i think worste then even part two. And the way the war scene is out, where you give your commands, in three ay intervals can become very confusing and is dumb because you may want a unit to do something different on day two and three. For only having thirty day wars if you win the battlefeild war on day 25 you only have 5 days to conquer castle what wont happen. Then you have to retreat and the enemy gets a whole month to send reinforements. Again this game is a big let down. I will never buy a koei game again. What funis a game where you just sit on your turn and do nothing, just waiting for gold. You cant build weapons, and the stupidest thing of all is if you want to get a vacent city, you need to attack the city and you will lose soilders in attacking a emepty city. Later you dont even need to keep a officer on your state to claim it as yours. As for stupid you can attack a land city with a navel unit, where thers no water andyou will win after losing a few soilders.

Well, I think the latest version of Romance of the three kingdom part 6 is okay but really could have been a lot better. Some of the major differences between part 4 and part 6 are described below. Some of the things missing in part 6 that I like so much in part 4 are: Train your soldiers, rewarding your generals with gold, building weapons like catapult, rams, strong bows, and etc, learning and controlling bolt, weather, wind, boulders, and etc, extended war only 30 days war, searching a large area instead of one city, having 3 generals to one unit instead of one general to a unit, invade plot, goving food to your people, sending supplies and troops option, vassal cities operate just like the main city, and keeping prisoners in jail for more than a year. Some of the new feature in part 6 that I like are obtaining title for the Emperor, give rank to you generals according to the title obtain for the Emperor after you help him perform or agreed to some task required for you, able to talk to your general and sometime they will ask for a council meeting, some animated story line, general have distinctively different attitudes that goes according to their dream and amibition, and distinctively different plot and battle. Finally the graphics are better. These are only some of the differences mention. Hope this will helop you decide. Despite all the differences, I still like playing it. Diehard RTK fan.

It seems that in this one Koei was more interested in trying new feaures for there games then making sure staples of the formers games made there way to this game. Some parts of the game I found to be fun. The fact the fact that you have to give your troops commands for 3 days at a time makes you actually need to anticpate you enemies moves, its too bad that the AI is very easy to predict. The only real problem I have with the 3 day commands is that the computer is doesn't seem to follow this, seemingly changing its mind on the second day into the commands and taking a more advantagous route. I enjoy the fact that you character age, get better as they approach their prime, and grow weaker as the have passed it, the inablity to train troops, which was the reason you or your enemies couldn't just "raise an army" on a whim, atleast not a very good one, in the older games. All in all it's a good game, but in my opinion Koei has already made a better version

ok I finally bought this game. I was waiting and waiting for this game to come out for a long time. hmm.. but let me tell you ,this game.. is a total disappointment. what can I say.. I knew it! as soon as I saw they put the demo of some other game in the same disk. who care about how their future game will look like? first of all, I didn't spend my ... dollar just to see some stupid demo! anyway lets review something here before I go nuts. Romance 6 is mainly focus on humanity and wars. the political part of this game is limited. most of the command that you used to be able to operate in older version has been taken off. everything in this game are now playable for any 8 year old kid. what are they getting lazy? or they want to attract younger people or what! the map.. it is very annoying cause you can't really see the whole map unless you make the main command screen disappear. there is no graphic to talk about since this game was never about graphics from the 1st one. music is relaxing but thats about it. I think KOEI people rushed this game too early to the market. this game supposed to be a good strategic game. It is not the game that you wanna spend 40 something dollars. In fact, KOEI should be giving away this game for fee! as a sample. If you never bought any of "Romeance of the three kingdom" series, I suggest you to buy romance 4. do not buy romance 6. you won't like it I guarantee.

RTK VI is a further enhancement to the successful franchise. Now your officer's abilities change as they age and as they acquire experience. The maximum number of troops and officer can command is based on his rank (and a ruler's rank determines what rank he can bestow on his officers). There are now many more officers to interact with and the story behind the game is given greater depth. The addition of short scenarios allows players to meet objectives without having to complete a campaign game. The main weakness is Koei's lack of documentation. Your officer's loyalty increases as your prestige increases (by completing tasks asked by the emperor)-- but the manual doesn't tell you this. You find out at a council that it takes 6 months and 20000 gold to build a palace-- but not in the manual. Talk with your officers to set up a council. The graphics are only incrementally improved. Overall, this is a solid addition for those who loved Koei's previous offerings, but it requires some learning and patience.

The game is good, as they all are. If your a koei fan, or a true war sim fan you will like the game very much. Unfortunately though for the R3K fans, the feel doesn't seem to be there. When you used to get truly into the game, and live it. You know play the game for 2 days straight, finally beat it and come back to play as a different ruler or in a different scenerio the next day. It just doesn't seem to happen anymore.
I like where Koei is going, unfortunately this is like the first versions of any Windows system, it just doesn't work right. They most likely should have waited a while refined the way the game operates and tried then. Unforntunately everything is trial and error.
I would recommend trying Romance of the Three Kingdoms IV or wait till they release the next. Mabye they will be back on track, or have fully developed the great ideas that where sorely lacking in presentation in R3K VI.
Don't get me wrong, it's still a great game and series, the newest installment is just lacking the feel of the rest.
