Commandos Behind Enemy Lines

Your looking for a new game right? But, your sick and tired of being bored with your new game by the end of the weekend. Not with this game my friend. You control 2-6 commandos during each mission using each commandos unique abilities to wreak havoc and mayhem on the German Army. The missions start off fairly easy, but watch out! The missions become more and more difficult as the game progresses. This game is not for someone looking for a relaxed WWII sim game. Missions can take a few hours to complete, and there's more than one way to complete each mission. I highly recommend this game for the person who enjoys a challenging(very challenging) game combined with a great storyline.

Commandos is Great War Game

I play many different war games, and I have to say this is one of the best that I have played. The graphics and story line are very good. The control of the players is a little difficult at first however if you do the training that they have it is very easy to pick up how to move the players. Well take many hours to complete the whole game successfully. Which I think makes it well worth the money.

Very Cool Game

When I first played commandos, I got murdered in about five minutes. After a little while, though, I was getting better. By the time I finished the first two levels (out of 30), not only was I very familiar with the interface, but I was also gripped by the game itself. Commandos is an incredible game. It is a real-time action/adventure game where you control 2-6 characters in geurilla type missions. The missions follow the story line of World War II and the missions take place in Norway, North Africa, France, and Germany. The real plus here is that the game is very historically accurate. This makes the game even more interesting. The only drawback to this game (and for a lot of people, it isn't a drawback) is that it is very tough. The later missions get very hard, so some people may lose interest in the game. The plus to this is that the game lasts that much longer. This is not a game that one could finish in a weekend. Finally, Commandos comes with a multi-player feature so you can run missions with others via the internet or LAN. Overall, I think that this is a great game!

Really fun game and a real challenge. Once you learn how to decently move around you will be at your computer for hours going through the missions. Some missions arn't as easy as others however, so you will need some patience. It is very satisfying once you learn how to use all your men. Having the spy distract a guard while the Green Beret slits his throat, or popping out of the water with the marine and harpooning an unsuspecting German makes for some good entertainment. If you like this game, I'd also recommend Hidden and Dangerous. It's similar but with a first person view.

How it works

To the guy who posted this only works on 95 and 98 only, don't install it, it will not install but copy the commandos folder (the fold that has all the game, not the install stuff) to your hard drive and run the "commandos.exe" then u should have no problems, cuz it works fine on my computer

EDIT:When you insert the CD, the install menu should show up. Close that.

Then open "my computer" in there you should see your CD in your D drive called "COMMANDOS_EARLY" or "COMM_BEL" or what ever depends on the verisons

Right click that and select "Explore"

Once in the folder you should see an AOL, COMANDOS, CPATROL, DEMOS, DIRECTX, DXMEDIA, EREG, INSTALL, MANUAL - Folders

Select the commandos folder and drag it to your desktop.

Once your computer has copied the commandos folder to your desktop, open it and right click "commandos.exe" and select "properties" then in there, there should be two tabs "general" and "compatibility" select "compatibility" and click on the box that says
"Run this program in compatibly mode for:" and then set it to windows 98.

And after you're done with everything close everything and double click the "commandos.exe"

Commandos is a good game. It is unlike any other. It has goodAI and level design. It is fun and challenging. However, it says it ishistorically accurate, but is actually pretty wrong. For example, the Green Berets (like the one on the cover) weren't even existing during WWII. The game is still cool.

Five starz! * * * * *

Just take a look at the front cover of this game and you can think to yourself that this will be good and it was and still lives up to such a great game. Having been out for sometime I have still not lost interest. When you feel like a relaxing game infront of the computer then look no further but you may not need to relax too much as oyu been a bit of consentration. The battle scenes are so life like and are like you are actually controlling the commandos to complete the mission. When playing it you really think that you are there comtrolling the whole mission and how to get through it. The variety of weapons and types of characters are really superb but one thing that could be better is that they should be able to pick up any type of weapon that they can instead of having a certain set for each character. But you forget all this when playing as you get used to it and the different weapons that they all carry are so great anyway. Even being able to see where the enemy are looking adds a great touch to it. All the different locations make the game even more so realistic and great to play. All it needs is a bit more expanding and it will change from being a superb game to a amazing game. You will not be disappointed.

This game kicks ...!!!! I am a computer freak and a World War 2 nut. This game is one of the best ever made. It is unlike any other strategy game ever made. It requires patience, strategic thinking, and lots of free time. This game is the first in a series of extraordenary games. You will never find a series better than the Commandos. I spent hours in front of the computer trying to beat just one mission. This game (or series for that matter) is not for you if you like to charge in with guns blazing and spray down the bad guys with lead. It is the best game, in the best series ever, period.

Awesome strategy game!

Commados by Eidos is an extrodinary game with spectacular graphics and awesome attention to detail. The missions are very complex and require the user to think through what he/she has to do before they do it. i havent stopped playing this game ever since i got it. There are around 20 missions to play, and some of them take hours. I love this game a reccomend it for any gamer!

This is what we call strategy game

Commandos,is not a simple game ...its a game for people who ask for lots of action and thinking and enoyability without getting too much prework before real action begins...this game gives it all...simple tasks simple players but complicated missions. The amazing in this game is that its not one of the strategy games that there is only one way to solve a mission!Even in the difficult ones there r key moves that can make things easier for you.Its one of the very few games that works only if u imagine yourself in the place of the heroes you r handling....excellent!
