My first taste of Dracula adventure games

This game is top notch. Very good graphics, sound effects, creepy atmosphere. I absolutely loved it. I plan on playing it again. Have shared it with my sis and she loved playing it. Easy to install. I have XP. Storyline was very good and had an ending that made sense where so many games I've played don't.

Quest for beginners.

I played this game 5 years ago on playstation (it was Russian version). I got a lot of fun. Now I will try English version. Let see. In my opinion this is scary but not very difficult game. Interface of this game is very easy. Nice sound, which gives mystic atmosphere. Graphics a perfect for game, which more then 7 years old. If you like quests (Necronomicon, Dark Fall, Black Mirror. This game for you!"

A Good Game, But...

After playing "Dracula Resurrection" I was torn about how to rate it - not sure if I should give it 3 or 4 stars. The reason for this is that, although I really enjoyed playing this game, there were a few downfalls that I felt were pretty significant.

In "Dracula Resurrection" you play Jonathan Harker - a man who believed he had already killed Dracula 7 years before. However, after receiving a disturbing letter from his wife Mina stating that her urges to return to Dracula's castle had overwhelmed her & that she was going back, he now realizes that Dracula is still alive & well - and so he must go back to the castle to defeat Dracula once & for all & save his wifes life. Will he succeed, or will he die trying?

Overall, I thought the graphics & story line were quite good. I also liked that most of the things you had to do made sense - so I didn't have to refer to a hints site too often (I used UHS hints). However, as I said before, this game does have some downfalls - these include: the beginning is really slow (but if you can hang in there, it does get much better); during the first part of the game, with nearly everyone you talk to, the sound track stutters (which is really annoying); once you get to the 2nd CD, each time you decide to play you have to put the 1st CD in again until it gets to the main page & then you have to put the 2nd CD back in - so if you leave to get hints, you have to do this CD shuffle before you can start playing again.

Even with these downfalls, I would still highly recommend "Dracula Resurrection" to anyone who enjoys mystery &/or "horror" games. It really was a lot of fun, once you get past the beginning...

This wasn't a very challenging game. I did have to use a walkthrough a few times, but only because the graphics were a little too dark for me to see some items. The characters were very creepy, almost disgusting. But overall, for the price, it was Ok to play. I plan on purchasing the sequel, Last Sanctuary.

A traditional PC game and a great starter. No, not scary!

The cover and title are misleading. This series, there is more than one, is a great series with which to start one's pc gaming experience. Much is traditional in movement and puzzles.
Violence? Not really! Just fun and mystery.
As a former educator, I'd recommend this for 13 and above. Killing about 3+ creatures is about as violent as it gets.
Gore? Not really.
Some fascinating, creepy but beautiful women are presented, if I remember correctly.
Wish I would have started with this instead of the Beyond Atlantis series which is more difficult. Crystal Key is gorgeous as is BA but the Dracula series is great for a beginner.
Enjoy!

needs to be packaged with dracula 2

i did this recently in windows, after having completed the "last sanctuary" for mac. my like for the last sanctuary caused me to purchase the resurrection. what i found is that the resurrection is very short and easy. i would normally give a poor rating for this except that the graphics were wonderful, the story engaging, and the atmosphere outstanding. for example, the game opens in eastern europe on a freezing night. the fields and farm buildings convey the chilling surroundings perfectly (incongruously, the pond is not frozen). despite its easiness, there were a couple of difficult places; i spent 2 days pixel hunting for one item in draculas castle, but it turned out to be large and in plain sight. dracula 2 takes the good aspects and adds a lot of length and difficulty.

i think that dracula 1 would be better as part of the second game rather than a separate game in itself.

AWESOME

My nightmare...my dream.
This is a fantastic game, it's filled with hours of everything a real horror game should contend. The producers has really used the best way to evolve the gaphics over the years, and the final result of years of production, this is the final result.

Story: 10/10
The story starts seven years after Jonathan defeated Dracula, but as time went by Mina, Jonathans fionce develops and feel the need to return to the castle, but what they didn't know was that Dracula was back, and ready to claim his revenge.
So Jonathan travels to Transylvania to save Mina from this evil, Only their love for each other can save Mina from the Prince of Darkness, Dracula, the ultimate evil.

Graphics 10/10
State-of-the-art graphics, exceptional beauty this game is absolutely on of the finest graphics ever seen in a computer game, each and every character is so exceptional detailed, you can see every vein and pore in the faces, it's so real that you almost can smell and feel their precense.
The enviroments are so lifelike, from the moment you enter the Barina Inn you can feel the warmth coming from the fireplace, to feel the coldness and loneliness of the ancient castle.
This game will suck right in, from the moment you put it on,it doesn't matter if you play this Pc version or the PSone version the atmosphere is just as immerse.

Sound/ Music 9/10
The cold winds of the late dawn is rushing over you like a shadow from the past, the creepy noices in the forest are watching you, and the loneliness of an empty heart is just as cold as the winds of dawn. The sounds and music is absolutely a part of it's gothic attraction. Don't bleed your soul to waste.

I'm positively passionate about this game, but hey the story doesn't end here pick Dracula 2: The Last Sanctuary so you can get a highly satisfying ending...will Jonathan save Mina from the ultimate evil?...it's up to you to make sure he does...

A "movie" type of PC game

This game wasn't one of the best I've played. It was inexpensive, so I didn't feel I'd lost a lot by buying it. But I've played it once through, and now it gathers dust. It's one of those "move the mouse around until it's obvious of the only thing you can do" games. Disappointing.

Very Much Enjoyed This Game

First of all, I am 40 *cough* years old, so my patience for some of the more complicated puzzle games tends to wear thin. I go for games that grab me visually and story-wise.

I've always loved Dracula and when I saw this, I grabbed it. I was pleased from the moment the game began. Here was a game that I could walk through and get caught up in. And believe me, the sound effects do draw you in, as do the superb 3D graphics! I made sure to turn up my sound and that certainly enhanced the creepiness of the game.

As for the puzzles, they were fairly simple; gather objects, choose which one to use where. Some of the later puzzles took more thought.

Like the other reviewers, I wish the game were longer; so, I purchased Dracula: The Last Sanctuary. I have not played that yet, but will soon.

I highly recommend this game if you're like me and enjoy a game for its music, graphics and story.
