One of the BEST RPG's ever

A nice mix of Zelda and Final Fantasy type games, Crystalis is a must for any RPG fan. You start as a simple character, armed with nothing but a sword. As the game progresses you gain more fighting and magic abilities and more areas of the world to explore. Because you can choose several different paths to take, this game is always interesting and has pretty good replay value. For those people who played the original version of Crystalis on the 8-bit Nintendo system, the Gameboy Color version has improved graphics, sound, AND some added areas and story line.

A Great Role Playing Game - Crystalis

Crystalis is a game that came out originally for Super Nintendo that was a lot like Zelda. Crystalis is mostly about a boy who wakes up to save the Earth from an Evil Sorceror named Dragonia. To do this, the boy must find four swords: The Sword of Wind, The Sword of Fire, The Sword of Water, and the Sword of Thunder. Once he has done this, he can combine the swords to create Crystalis, thus the title. This is a very intriguing game that is a lot like the original, however the final boss in the original, DYNA, is now just a regular boss. There is another entire level to the Game Boy Color Version. The controls and graphics are great, and these are some of the best Game Boy voices I've heard, but the game is fun to play overall. This is a great addition to the RPG lover's collection.

Action packed and fun!

I am new to Crystalis and was very happy to play it for the first time. It has light elements of RPG and is similar to Link's Awakening DX (also a new game to me!) The world is beautiful in full color and the music will have you humming its tune long after you stop playing - if you can stop! The battery-backed save lets you save 3 different games, but it doesn't save EXACTLY where you were last, and there is currently no guide book for it. There is no bestiary list for all the monsters either. These complaints are minor, and don't detract from the sterling quality of this game at all. The swords doubling as projectile weapons are really cool and the game has an interesting magic system. You will love this game.

This game is so cool it makes me chicken slappin happy. You start out with only a sword and the beginning is fairly easy. I think that all role-players should at least try the game because your sure to love it

Starting off, i must set some things straight. #1. Crystalis came out originally for the regular 8-bit NES, not SNES #2. It is by far the best of the RPG genre, greatly surpassing the Legend Of Zelda.

While i must confess that i do not have a Gameboy, i do have the original NES and i still play Crystalis. i do encourage the purchase of this game. i hope that by rereleasing it on Gameboy, nintendo can usher in a new generation of gamers that will like the old skool nintendo games. i know i do...

The game. Crystalis is by far my favorite game of all time. And that spans every console game i have, (NES, Genesis, Game Gear, 3DO, Playstation, and N64) I rememeber spending hours and hours, killing foes to collect money to get bigger and better armour. the storyline is very deep and it gets u immersed in the game. The thing i like most about this game is the fact that its not turn based RPG. I dunno but i cant stand turn based RPGs...Shining Force? Great game, don't get me wrong, but i hated just watching a damn screen and watching characters take turns to fight. With Crystalis (on the NES) you control your character, and if its like the NES version, you can name your character too. The game is set in the future too, buts its pretty wicked because the only way people can dominate other people is to use Magic. So theres a lot of technology and medieval kind of stuff too. You meet up with 4 wise men who, along your journey as you get better and better Magic Points, will teach u magic such as Recover (allows you to recover from paralysis) Refresh (restores your Hit Points) and Teleport(allows you to go back to any town youve beento before.) There are also 4 swords u need to find. you start out with the sword of wind. find the ball of wind and u increase you potential to hurt enemies. find the tornado bracelet and u can crush every enemy in your path, there is also the Fire, Water, and Thunder swords which all have balls and bracelets that increase the power of the swords. All the swords combine to give you Crystalis, the mightiest weapon ever made. With it you can defeat Draygonia in the Floating Tower (by the way, what is it with the word draygonia in RPGs? in Landstalker, there was a character named Drakon from Drakonnia. Spelled diffently but he was a lizard of some sort. If u played Crystalis and Landstalker for Genesis, you'd catch my parallesism) There is so much more to see and do. As any old skool NES fan can tell you, there's nothing quite like the original. dont miss out on a legend

get it for regular nintendo too

Defeat the darkest evil and save the world!

In a land destroyed by technology and only the power of magic can save civilization, there is an evil beyond all belief. This evil combines the power of magic with the banished ways of technology to eradicate human life. The only way this evil can be destroyed is by recovering the mightiest sword of all time... The sword of Crystalis!

Crystalis is a great RPG style game that will keep you on the edge of your seat the whole time you are playing it. There are many challenging bosses and enemies to defeat along with many grueling mazes. The gameplay and the graphics are excellent and you are bound to be hypnotized by the thrilling plot. But Why take my word for it. Buy Crystalis and find out for yourself!

Classic RPG action is revived

For those of you who played Crystalis for the NES know what to expect from this. Crystalis can be considered one of the first RPG's ever introduced, and its a great one at that. This game could be compared mainly to the Legend of Zelda, except this features leveling up and magic spells. There's more to this game than to the Legend of Zelda really. You can purchase armor upgrades, items, gather spells, achieve better swords, and of course, you must defend your world against the ultimate evil. Crystalis has great graphics, sound, control, and is overall a fantastic game. Its not the greatness that Zelda is, but its the next best thing.

This is one of the best adventure games I have ever played. I had it for my NES, and as soon as my firends saw it they got it. This is a classic adventure game that Zelda like game fans should not miss.

this game was pretty good, considering its a gameboy game(i wanted to give it 4and a half stars but didnt know how)the plot isnt anything too original or extremely complicated(why are magic, swords, and barging into people's houses so popular anyway? )but, still a good game.I bought it for vacation and its really keeped me entertaned. You walk at a fast pace wich is really good and its easy to understand how the game works. If you want a pretty good game and like magicy and swordy stuff EAT MY LUNCH just kidding, give this game a try

The Best overhead Adventure game ever.

Crystalis has been my favorite adventure game since the beginning. Zelda has nothing on this.

When SNK made the original they were pressed by a deadline, and therefore couldn't get everything into the game they wanted. This time around they have fixed that.

The awesome story has more detail, and makes more sense. Places that were removed from the original game have been put back in. It's an awesome remake.

There are a few downsides to the GBC version however. For example, the absolutely awesome music from the original has been removed and replaced by new music that, decidedly, is not as good.

Also, the original maps had to be slightly shrunk. For example, the Valley of the Wind (and most of the overworld) is much smaller and, in effect, it now takes less time to get from place to place. Some people may think that is a good thing, but I feel as if something of the original flare has been taken away.

I still plan on buying this game. Especially since it's so hard to get the original. As a matter of fact, I'm buying a Game Boy Color for this and a couple other games.

Overall, this is the greatest Adventure game of all time.
