Game play from the beginning is fun, but the time spent on the city layout seems a bit of a waste, considering you can just "jump" to any point on the map automatically. The drift races are ok but pretty easy to fake after a little practice, the crew option is pretty useless and most of all the game difficulty and length is tragic. beat the entire game over the course of a week of casual gameplay. the only redeeming aspect is quality of the cinematics (not including the acting). I wish I bought ridge racer.

this is the worse game eve! I mean the voice acting is good and all but if i wanted a movie i'd buy it on top of that it is nowhere as good as prostree. People say prostreet is crap but it all depend on your tast. If you look at it as gran turismo than naturally it cra. I say don't buy this game buy prostreet if you ca.

A fun arcade racer

Need for Speed Carbon is a decent racing game for the PS3. The graphics is good but nothing to get overly excited about. The framerate is consistently high, which is great when you are driving at over 120 mph. (I play it in 1080i mode on my LCD TV.) The career mode has some sort of storyline, but it's complicated and I just skipped over the poorly delivered dialogs.

The game is an arcade racer, which means its car handling physics is not very realistic. A number of real-world nameplates are represented, and each does have its own "feel," but the designers and developers made no attempt at making them feel real. (The opposite of this approach is, of course, the venerable Gran Turismo series.) The best thing about an arcade racer like this is the driving is very forgiving. You can corner easily at over 90 mph, something you'll never do in Gran Turismo. You can also turn off car damage and smash into everything and anything -- cop cars, oncoming traffic, etc. -- destroy them yet sustain no damage. Because the framerate is really good, when you use the bumper or dash view and drive above 120 mph on an HDTV, you can really feel the rush.

The career mode has you race to win over territories. You must place no. 1 in each race to win. After a while, the races do get repetitive, as do the cat-and-mouse chases with the cops. The city in the game, which seems to be modeled after L.A., is not very big, so after half an hour or so you'll have travelled on all its streets and highways. I wish EA had included a more expansive setting.

In short, this is a fun game and makes a great rental. It's too expensive as a purchase, and its limited variety of play makes the purchase a poor value.

ps2 game

this game is good if you dont care about how realistic it is because its like a basic ps2 car game to me. an example is how i can drive 200 mph and bounce off a parked car or wall and drive away like nothing happend then this game has giant lights that appear in the middle of the street just to show you were somethings at like a check point, thats something you see in a cheap arcade game. and the cops can never catch me so its pointless to get chased by them all you have to do is keep crashing into them going 200 mph when they road block you becasue remember your car is undestructable... wow what a rushed game they should have just made it for ps2 or for the wii.

Bland racing game with a few nice touches

Yet another EA pumped out remake of a xbox360 title, which shows as this game actually looks better on the 360. Having said that the game itself is fun and the learning curve for the game is very good, making it easy for you to start with and then turning up the heat as you get more invested in the game. After this, the game just turns into a tedious battle against 'bosses' where the only way to win the race is to know the course completely and hope that luck ensures that 'dumb cars' aren't generated on the apex of key corners.

It was ok iwas never able to go online tho. I was expecting much nore after paying so much for the ps3 and the game. I dont beleive this was a game that could not have been done for the ps2 exept for the graphics. There was nothing that stood out too much. The autosculpt was good but with only 4 bodykits and they looked the same on almost all the cars. The custom paints were good tho. But there were many little things that were missing like drag, replays and the cars werent as customizable as the were in preveous parts(rotors, lights, hydrolycs) This was my experience with the game and im sure other people had better ones but if i had a choice to buy the game again i wouldnt. Hopefully NFS Pro Street isnt another dissapointment.

Ok racing game

The game starts out a lot of fun, however, after a while the races get repetitive. Also, I'm not much of a "drifter", so I had no interest in the drifting parts of the game. One other pet peeve, no matter how far ahead you get, the other racers seem to catch up to you quickly, not very realistic. All in all its fun to cutomize and trade up your cars.

Fun, but a little disappointing

The first time through was pretty fun, but it was over too quickly - and forget playing through a second time (at least I had no interest). Part of the reason I got this was my understanding that you can unlock the Audi R8. You can, but you don't actually have free use of it - really idiotic in my opinion. Graphics were decent, but not really next-gen. Car selection and customization was pretty good.
