Bought it at a lesser price. Ended up being a Chinese version and a lot of hassle getting it set up to English.
I'll try a "real" good 'ol US version.

This expansion pack is great it gives a new campaign, a new island, new weapons and vehicles, new people such as cops, women, and new men. The new weapons you can use a breatta, glock, uzi, fn-fal , hk g3-4a, scorpion, and t-33. for example of the new vehicles theirs a new helicopter, v-80 hokum, mortercycle, police jeep, and bus. the new island is a 100 square miles. it has new buildings. It also has two air ports and a bridge.the graphics have improved a lot. one of the best war games ever made and is very realistic. MUST HAVE IF OWN FIRST GAME.

Good, but the same faults are still there.

This expansion has a lot of great cut sceens and story elements that make up a very compelling game. The infantry combat is as vicerial as it was in the first two installments. The draw back is the same as in the first instalments as well. The vehicle missions are as cumbersom and boring as the first. Codemasters is on the forefront of making a gamer feel like a character in a film. If you want to see great interactive entertainment, heart pounding missions and a great story check this one out.

Great Expansion

This is a great expansion. The Russians take over an island and it becomes your goal to kick them off your island. Go from civilian to guerilla fighter in a manner of days.
On the second day I had a choice to join the Russian side or to join with the resistance... The missions a re long and difficult, most of the missions might as well be covert operations since you always have to retreat to the forest after accomplishing a certain goal.

Just as with Red Hammer you also get a bunch of cool single player missions. Many of which are challenging and fun. I hope you enjoy this as much as I have.

I have found the Operation Flashpoint games to be the most realistic games I have played. They not only present the player with challenge, but also offer varying scenarios each time you log into a particular segment of the game. I have played the original and the two expansions many times and continue to be challenged by them. I own many similar type games but always seem to come back to these. I would highly recommend these games to anyone who likes the war action type games.

New good look, same old game.

I have enjoyed Operation Flashpoint since the first demo, and played the first expansion/upgrade. However Resistance does what Red Hammer should have, improve the graphics and add features players' want rather than just tacking on some extra missions and items you can download for free.

What anyone will notice first is the graphics. The brand new island looks and feels more natural than the others. Mountains have snowy peaks, a river runs through the mainland, trees look realistic and much of the sweeping outdoors scenery is improved. On top of that the cities and towns finally look like they belong. Some of the larger cities have various apartments, bus stops, signs, office buildings, and streetlights help make it seem that this place might exist. The textures for all these things look clean and sharp. Even the horrible water surface has gotten some attention. In the end what OpFlash has done better than any other military shooter is surround you with enough real world details you would expect to see. This helps immerse the player, and it succeeds.

While all this is good, the core gameplay is the same. It still suffers from the same issues like limited saves, AI quirks, physics/collision issues, and a few other things that could still be improved. The textures and environment have been polished, but little is done with the still blocky character models. Sounds are better than in the original game, but still not as crisp and impressive as they could be. Other new features in the gameplay seem tossed in at the last minute. Handguns for example, were left out in the original game. Resistance adds a number of them, but they are poorly done. Firing a Beretta 96F I emptied the clip as fast as I could. I suffered little or no recoil, and all the rounds were dead on at medium-long range. To reflect this, the gun never moved in my character's hands. You could snipe someone in the head with it. At the same ROF the M16 isn't as accurate, and it would visibly recoil.

I thought the single player campaign was better than the previous ones. It doesn't bother holding your hand, within the first few missions you are commanding a squad in battle. The missions them selves are usually a little different and challenging than before. There is also resource gathering/management. Being a rebel cell with no army to support you, you will have to scavenge for items and vehicles. Thus the machine gun you picked up the last mission will carry over to the next, just hope you got some ammo for it to last. Things like this make it less typical by giving the player options that add more fun.

If you liked Operation Flashpoint you will like Resistance, it's the same game with a new better look. It is worth the price and is just an enjoyable. However do not expect a vastly improved game. In a game that makes you be all you can be, it still isn't.
