This game is not what I expected: here are my results:

Graphics-1
The backgrounds were horrible, the characters were small, and sometimes the screen gets fuzzy(not the tv's problem).

Sounds(Backgroud music)-1
The voices do not macth the charcters and the music was HORRIBLE!

Gameplay-1
The characters were slow and puny. the fireballs that came out of their hands were their specials. the code they give you to unlock the characters DOES NOT WORK!

Overall- I am very disappointed with this game. Worst DBZ game EVER. DO NOT BUY!!! Wait for DBZ Budokai 2 coming in December 2003.

THE MOST BORING GAME!

This game is terrible. The music should be in an elevator. The voices sound like dying cats. The graphics seem like a kindergarden kid drew them. The gameplay is terrible. It is just about as fun as a ball of lint.

Very tragic indeed...

I don't even know why I got this game in the first place. I mean, come on, Funamation knew this was a horrible attempt at a fighter video game. There's a good selection of characters, but the game is easy to win (simply stand far away and blast away with special energy attacks). Also, music and sounds are horrible. There was literally no voice translations, only title translations. For DBZ fans out there, go buy a PS2 and get Budokai 3. You'll be spending about $180 more than if you've bought UB22, but you'll surely be happy.

Wow, they finally got this one converted?

Got the original Japaneese version of this game a LONG time ago, it's not that bad of a game, as the name states it's 22 DBZ characters including everyone from Goku to Super Majin Buu (No Kid Buu). Basically 2-5 characters from each of the DBZ series.

Game is a simple 2D fighter with a basic 3D background. Unless they totally redid this game (and given the price of $, they probably just did a quick translation) it's nothing to write home about. Each character does basic kicks and punches with some special moves here and there and all characters have a variety of projectile attacks.

Characters can "levitate" or fly, or fight on the ground and you can toss projectiles if your opponent is either above or below you. Pretty simple.

For the price this game isn't too bad. Chances are if the kiddies are knee deep in Dragonball stuff they will add this to their collection, so that's ok, but there are better games out there.

Fighting feels pretty basic and it doesn't take long to figure out how to block just about anything the bad guy throws at you. There's a "Build-up" mode where you take a fighter and as you win fights you "level up" and get stronger with a longer health bar. You can take your fighter to your friends and duke it out with their fighters. Kind of Tomagotchi'esk...

Just remember, you get what you pay for.

Also depending on how much this game has "changed" there should be a code to unlock 5 extra characters. (Young Goku from Dragonball, Mr. Satan (aka-Hercule), and 3 others I can't remember as I write this)

Dissapointing

This game I thought would be a lot better than It was. First of all the game wouldn't even let me put in the code for an additional 5 characters that I was hoping for. The Graphics are okay but could use a lot of work, and the attacks are really hard to master. I would suggest renting this game before you want to buy it. The intros and the cover are about the coolest thing there is.

Ultimate Battle 22... Ultimate let down!

I hate to break suit when it comes to this game, but it really is very terrible. I mean, there have been a few good Dragon Ball Z games released (Legacy of Goku II, Boudaki), but Ultimate Battle 22 just isn't one of them.

First of all, characters react far too slowly. They jump about two inches off the ground. Their energy attacks look nothing like they should and are impossible to do.

About the only good thing in this game, as far as I can reckon, is the cover art, the opening movie, the music and the fact that you can play Kid Goku and SSJ3 Goku... which doesn't really matter, because by the time the battle begins, I've already fallen asleep.

Lousy game. There were far better Japanese DBZ games which could have been ported to the states.

DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY!!!!!!

Im a huge dbz fan and all but this game really dissapointed me.

1) Ok, what in the world is up with those graphics?? This game makes the first mortal kombat game look like a dream come true.

2) I DONT THINK ANYONE HEAR UNDERSTANDS JAPANESE!!!!! My gosh, this game isnt fully translated. The people talk in Japanese.

3) The characters voices sound REALLY stupid.(goku sounds like a kid)
DONT BUY THIS GAME!!!!!!

My 3 minute entertainment.

Sorry fellas. I'm a EXTEMELY hardcore DBZ fan. I can't believe i dont appreciate the game. The only times i play this is if i got like 2 mins if im waitn on som1. Ill start this up. Play it for the mins and they shut it off until im so desperate to play it again. The only reason this has 2 stars is because of all the characters. It was fun to actually use kid trunks/ goten / the hidden Pan / Supreme Kai. And all the other characters that werent included with Budokai.

One of the worst things about this game are the ki beams. They are a little tiny energy ball. Even When i unlocked the secret Super Hyper Spirit Bomb (I think they could have left out the hyper). THe super Hyper Spirit bomb usually killed one hit. But the big bad Super Hyper Spirit bomb was still a small little orange energy ball.

Another bad thing, i know it isnt that big a deal but it was just hard to get used to the voices. They werent from the english shows. They used the japenese voices. It just felt weird to here goku talk and sound like kid gohan from the show.

Another bad thing is when i unlocked the ultimate SSJ15 thing for Gohan was that i had to press like XXOO R1 R2 > < > < ^ square square. I had to do that in like 3 seconds. Just doing it one time gives u a blister. And i think they could have been more creative with that SSJ15 thing. I mean. Gohan just looked like a normal Super Saiyan..Also when i unlocked SSJ3 Vegito. He was called SSJ3 Super Vegito but he looked normal. When he transformed into SSJ3(There was no ssj1 or 2 for him) his hair turned red. What is up with that?!

Graphics 2/5
Control 1/5 Err what was the kameamea? x x o r1 l2 l1 r2 in 2 secs?
Sound 1/5 Errr i cant member. if there was music i tuned it out. Voices stunk.
Characters 5/5 Oh yeah. I love gotenks ahwahwhhaha

Total for this game on a scale of 10 3/10 took me a long time to decide between 3 and 2.

Dont buy this unless you are a dbz psycho that steals cable TV just for dbz.

Not a good buy

I tried this game because I really like DBZ but nearly everything about it is dodgy. The graphics are 2D like some gameboy game. The sound is terrible. You're in the middle of a fight and its playing all this soft touchy harmonal music. The voices are like a 3 year old girl screaming. The commentator for the world tournaments speaks in Japanese and when you select your character half of the names are wrong.
Supreme Kai: Kaioshin
Tien: Tenshin etc.
Even in 2 player mode it is a bit dodgy because the combos take too long to do so your opponent can just bash you to death.
